I think he's going to wear this guy out and win it in 5. Good match so far. I like this new challenge system. This one probably doesn't go off til past 1 am

Agassi won't wear "this guy" out. He's 6 years older, has back problems, and "this guy" is ranked #20 in the world. I'm not even surei f Andre is ranked anymore...

I think I jinxed him by starting this thread ... currently down two breaks and 0-3 in the third set.

Looks like he's going to give the third set away, but there's still plenty of time to find his rhythm.

This guy looks tired. Changing my prediction to Agassi in 4.

He's really grown up.

A few years ago, a Los Angeles charitable organization auctioned off an afternoon of tennis lessons with Agassi and Stephi Graf. The winning bid was in the six figures. Agassi's response: "We're only tennis players. It's not like we're doing anything important."

I heard on the radio today that Agassi gives more money to charity than any sports figure but Lance Armstrong.

Agassi. An athlete and all around great person. Sometimes you wonder why the majority of athletes in this country don't have that kind of class. Congrats to him. He deserves it.

I could have beat that boy that Agassi lost to today. Sad to see him go out like that with the bad back, but he really gave it his all.

Agassi has been a prick plenty of times in career. Sure, he's mellowed, but he acted like a spoiled brat against Pat Rafter at Wimbeldon in 2001. Don't let a last gassed run at an open fool people. I'm just glad the tennis coverage can finally go back to the real players like Federer, Nadal, Hewitt, Robredo, Gasqet, and even Roddick. CBS actually showing some tennis acumen and playing the far superior match to Agassi/Becker in Nalbandian/Safin.

A lot of athletes are a prick a lot of times in thier career. but few athletes have done for thier sport what Agassi has done. Durring his prime he brought a whole differnt viewership to tennis as well as an attitude that this isnt just a sport for snobs and stuck up rich people... Macenro and Connors while they are A=holes most of the time still had that pretentious attitude. Agassi did for the sport what Tiger did for Golf.

It is sad to see him go but what a great career and what an all around great athlete

This makes me think you don't remember McEnroe or Connors very well, particularly in regards to their impact on the sport of tennis.

Connors came into the stodgy world of tennis around '73 or so, and it was like a breath of fresh air. He was animated and irreverent. It was fun to see, except that he could also be a real jerk, as could McEnroe.

But pretentious? Hardly.

Hmm, did he call Rafter names? Or is that not being a "spoiled-brat-prick?"

Oh I remember them well, as I follow tennis.. I didnt mean to imply that the players were pretentious more that the sport was. Connors and Mcenroe were hardcore guys in a sport that didnt agree... My point was Agassi with his different style of play... and his personality did for tennis what others hadnt...
