Neither side can cover the other's WRs. Without Springs, TO and/or Glenn (most likely Glenn) will light us up. On the other hand, they can't cover Moss or Lloyd deep.
Soooo.....
Look for Parcells to stick to max-protect schemes the entire game. You remember max-protect, that supposedly outdated Gibbs scheme that every team tried to use against our D last year to stop the blitz. This was Parcells' game plan for the first game last year, but with our secondary healthy, his offense sputtered. Consequently, the Boys abandoned it in the second game, and we sacked Bledsoe to death. Everyone remembers how that game turned out. The Vikings burned us consistently last week with max-protect schemes, and their WRs are mediocre at best. Losing Springs is to the passing game what losing Griffin is to stopping the run, a catastrophic blow.

For the Skins' O, we'd better hope the O line plays MUCH better than last week. Brunell will need plenty of time to go deep and embarass Roy Williams. But here's the thing - our O will have to give Brunell plenty of time in a mostly spread offense. Saunders MUST take more strikes downfield. The Vikes are now a WCO team, but up until the last drive, we looked like the dink and dunkers. We'll need to score 4 TDs to pull this one off.

I know it's stating the obvious, but ultimately this game will be won in the trenches. Whoever gets to the opposing QB most often will pull out a win. I really hope it's us....but I have grave doubts. :(

I can't argue with this assessment however your leaving out one thing.. I think Betts(If he truely starts and plays a big role) is better then Jones. I think we have the edge running the ball. If Portis plays a big role, forget about it, we'll have the definate edge running wise.

They go Max protect with Two receivers I really don't see that helping. We'll double up on TO with Taylor/AA and make Glenn beat us.. Which could possibly happen.. I don't think it would be wise for them to abandon Witten for max protection. This game has a lot of "what ifs" it will be interesting.

I am sorry but betts is mediocre at best,we are going to need our passing game to step up big time.

I wasn't happy with Betts 8 carries for 22 yards last week but in all fairness, he never was given the opportunity to get in the groove. Just like Stephen Davis back in the day, he MAY get stronger as the game wears on.

Betts gets shoestring tackled every time he touches the ball. The holes were there, but a lineman on the ground reaching brings him down.
