I walked into the room as he was walking off the field, I laughed.
Hysterically.
Nothing's changed.

LaVar has been a non-factor...before and after the stinger.

ive always like lavar, but ive said it before, i think the knee injuries have aged the guy, hes not the same and the giants arent helping by making him play coverage instead of blitzing which was always his strength which ironically might be because of his knee that they have him dropping back instead of exploding to the line

He really does seem prematurely aged, both mentally and physically. You guys really have to think back to what Lavar looked like in his first few years. The guy was noticeable on EVERY play. Even when he was in the wrong place, he got there FAST. He destroyed running backs every single game. He's a completely different player at this stage of his career.

I'm still a LaVar fan (I like the guy.....sue me) but I agree with your analysis Todd. LaVar at his peak was an explosive player who delivered punishment when he got to a ball carrier. LaVar hasn't been that player since the first couple of weeks of the 2004 season. Just watching this game, Westbrook was running to the outside, LaVar had zeroed in on him but Westbrook was able to get to the sideline and out of bounds. The old LaVar would have been able to meet Westbrook before he got out and plant him in the turf.
His injury and the long rehab back clearly has taken it's toll on him right now.
It's too bad such a great player was wasted thanks to our merry go round head coach/defensive coach phase of 2000-2003.
If LaVar had the stability that Sean Taylor has enjoyed his first 3 seasons, who knows how much more of a great player he could have been.
One last thing. Far be it for me to allow an opportunity to take a shot at Brunell to pass by so here it is.
The last thing the New York Giants or any of our opponents would want is to have Brunell knocked out of the game. :D

I know it goes against your nature, but hold out some hope he'll have one of his typically good games (to date) against Dallas tonight. :)

As much public laundry he did last season with John "The Apologist" Thompson, I'll never begrudge anyone starting a LaWanda bash thread.

I've noted an interesting phenomenon for a couple years. Most Brunell basher/haters are Lavar booster/apologists. I've never mentioned it, but I've always found it interesting on several levels, particularly how hypocritical the use of the argumentative structures often were with several of them when taking one matter on compared to discussing the other. It always seemed to be a case of what was sauce for the goose was strictly verboten for the gander  . Of course most were also big Ramsey boosters. Whatever the connection may really mean, I leave lying out there in the ether :silly:
