As I was watching the Texans game, I almost thought I saw Brunell, Portis, Moss, etc. in black and gold uniforms :)

Quick draws by the speed back (Portis vs. Parker), off tackle runs by the bigger back (Betts vs. Bettis), quick short passes to the backs, ends and receivers in rhythm allowing them to gain RAC yardage and make big plays off missed tackles.

and most importantly, the patience to stay within that framework even with several 3 and out drives early on in the game.

It really did remind me of what we saw from the 2004 and 2005 Steelers. We haven't seen the deep balls from this offense yet, but the emergence of a two-pronged rushing attack and a high percentage short game will force defenses to come up and defend with their linebackers and safeties. That will spring Moss and Lloyd.

People never talked about the Steelers offense even though they won 26 games the past 2 seasons, quietly outscoring some good offenses along the way.

now, if we can see the Redskin offensive line maintain its edge and show the ability to hold up and support the run against Jacksonville and the better defenses on the schedule, this offense has the chance to use its multiple weapons in a modified system that reduces mistakes and takes advantage of the generally poor level of tackling we see around the NFL today.

good point bulldog.. but i thought we might see more of a steelers gameplan with campbell not with brunell. if campbell starts next year, the gameplan will need to mirror the steelers til he gets the gist of the playbook

Brunell is a very accurate short and intermediate passer when he gets time. The stronger armed qbs often start out better throwing the deep ball and have to learn how to pass and not throw the short and intermediate balls.

that was definitely the case with Mark Rypien here. Ramsey never did learn how to throw a simple screen pass.

I think Brunell makes this modified system work because he does have mobility. He is not Drew Bledsoe or Brad Johnson out there.

That mobility leads to points over a 16 game schedule.
