View Full Version : Howard vs. Carter
Number5

Both were signed this off-season, though neither has produced much thus far. The only question I am asking is who is going to have the better season as far as tackles and sacks.....
State your reasons why?
I will save my views on this until page 3 of this (I know there will be plenty of debate) in order to save myself from being called a homer.
But hopefully these stats will help...
Howard has 6 tackles and 1 sack while Carter has 5 tackles with an assist...
Let the debate begin......

Their play will pick up, I think Howard/Carter may have been better suited playing for opposite teams.

I'd wait until after the season is over to compare. However, my general feeling is that Howard has been a better all around player but is older and has a history of injuries.

Howard is a better player and will continue to be. I said it before the Igs got him and I say it now.

Agreed! If we had Howard, we'd be better.

Personally I would have to say Sean Taylor.

Howard is better at least he showed somthing in the preseason. Carter plays next to a much much much better Defensive tackle and can't even pressure the QB.

Tough to call so far. Going to give Carter the benefit of the doubt. However, if he does not pick his game up soon I will have to go with Howard.

I am surprised somewhat that Howard (according to you, No. 5) hasn't looked good so far. It's hard for me to make a determination on this subject having not really watched many (read: any) Eagles' games. I will say Carter's absence seems to be due to some double teaming which is understandable, along with a lack of technique, which is disturbing.
No. 5, you seem kind of down on Howard. What are your observations telling you? I would tend to bow to your experience with this, given that you have watched him more than I. Carter has disappointed so far, though I suspect our D-line play will improve when Springs returns.

Wait until about Week 10....neither player is worth admitting they are on their respective roster yet....lol.

I am going to say Carter. My statement is based on the thought that the Skins coaching staff is stronger and after extensive study, believed in Carter.
Howard however does has a better prior track record

Howard is doing just fine. Nobody in Philly has any problem what so ever. Thus far, there really is no question in my eyes.

Carter is doing a great job stopping the run. Then again, Renaldo Wynn did that at a fraction of a cost.
I really thought Carter could break out(or re-break out?)and return to his 12 sack form here in our D.

He still has 13 games to play bro, a few multi-sack games here and there and he is back on pace for 10+. FAITH.

Howard has been very good. I'd be happier if he had 2 or 3 sacks at this point, but he is back at his LDE position (with Kearse being out) and he got his first sack from that position.
If anyone on here thinks it is Carter, I'll bet you a steak dinner that Howard winds up with more sacks this year.
I've watched parts of two Skins games and he has not impressed me at all. He is very slow off the ball. Very slow.

I agree with you 100%, Carter hasn't generated pressure on the QB one time this year where as howard might not have the sacks, but he is getting pressure quite often. take this from someone who has watched all the skins and eagles games this year.

Howard has been very good and his pressure is a big reason the Eagle's DLM have 14 sacks after 3 games because it gets the QB moving and stops the other team from concentrating on any other DLM. Of the 2 Skin's games I've seen[it's great to have them getting national games again} I haven't seen much from Carter and with only 1.5 sacks from the DL he can't be helping his team mates get there either.

1.5 sacks from the line? That's putrid. Is that correct?

Wouldnt surprise me. The only sack I can remember came in the Houston game. Our DL didnt get a ton of pressure last year, but it was better then we have done this year. Our D has fallen off this year but I am not sure why... Hopefully it can get back in form. Its a little confusing and exasperating.(sp?)

Looks like both of us got screwed. The only thing I can say is Carter is younger with no recent injury problems. I would give him the edge as the season drags on but it's really anybody's guess.

Eagles are glad to have Carter, thats pretty much the universal opinion FYI. Not sure why people are assuming the opposite.

Anyone that thinks Howard sucks hasn't seen the Eagles d line.
Dallas O line gave up what, 3 sacks going into the Eagles game? Howard had at least 2 and a FF. The guy dominated against the run also.

I had a feeling this thread would get bumped tonight. Howard was an absolute beast today. Pocono, shot deserved!
