Do you agree with the length of the suspension. I agree with it. That was dispicable. He's a creep. I will say though, that he was sorry and called it disgusting and he acknowledged that he deserves a suspension and fine.

He should have been suspended for the rest of the season and criminal charges should be filed against him.

If I did stole 5 bucks at work I'd be fired and would never work for the company again.

Haynesworth can damn near blind a guy for life and he gets 5 games but gets to come back and earn millions.

Should have been longer, like the whole season!

yea i agree. that should have been the last play of the season for him. I'll be surprised if we dont see a civil law suit over this as well

should have been out the rest of the year. I fully expect the Titans to add additional punishment to the 5 games.

5 doesn't seem long enough, I think 6 should have been the least they could have done.

That piece of "shoot" needs to be PERMANENTLY suspended from the NFL and a lawsuit needs to be filed!!!

Should have been for rest of season or a year total (rest of season and first 4 games of next season).

He's lucky I'm not commissioner. He'd be gone for the whole year.

Problem is that under the new CBA there's a clause about teams suspending players. I'm either thinking they can't do it or they can only do it for 4 games....can't remember which.

I think it deserved a suspension for the rest of the year. He wasn't known as a dirty player or one that the league had trouble with in the past. He made one, horrific and stupid decision that calls for a severe penalty that sends a message that this is not a part of football. However, I wouldn't want to see him get the death penalty for making one horrific and stupid decision in his life, unless he ruined Gurode's career. Since Gurode is supposed to play against the Eagles next week, he should pay for the damage that was done, a permanent scar on Gurode's face.

The Nashville PD needs to look into filing criminal charges for assault and battery, at a minimum. I won't be surprised if the Titans suspend him for the rest of the season. What he did was unconscionable and disgusting!

Yep, the League needs to send a real message. I'm actually surprised that it was only 5 games, it was deliberate, and repeated, no excuse. And for him to come out afterwards apologizing well, I remember those apologies; they were the one's that my drunk step-father used to issue the morning after.

NO EXCUSE!

I agree it should've been alot longer but as least they gave the longest suspension in history.

That would include their date with us...EXCELLENT.

One less healthy starter to throw at our team.

Actually I saw him interviewed after the game and he was very contrite. Said he had disgraced the team, his name and his kids. Honestly almost felt sorry for him but what he did was inexcusable. Five game suspension is ok, maybe even on the lenient side.

Goddell and the NFL fall flat on their face with this one.

8 minimum, AND a fine. If not the whole season.

What a disgrace this league is.

If the victim was Payton, Eli or Mike Vick, rest assured it wouldve been the whole season.

What an absolute joke the disciplinary board of the NFL is.

For some strange reason, I dont know, I dont really think Haynesworth's presence would make any difference whatsoever.

Yet they penalize teams for over-celebrating by picking up another player off his feet, and penalize Defensive Lineman for hitting a QB a milliisecond after he lets the ball go, when you've got over 1000 pounds of momentum (body weight times speed) going at the QB

In a rare occurance, I find myself in complete agreement with you. There is no hiding the glaring double standard in this league. For yrs lineman have been allowed to cut-block, ending the careers of numerous defensive players. Why? Because it helps put more points on the board - that's why. This league is all about reeling in the casual fan and getting their money. Us die-hards will watch a well played 10-6 game and really enjoy it. Those on the periphery do not share our love of the game -- they need constant excitement. And, since they don't understand the finer points......that excitement must come in the form of high scoring games.

I lose a little more respect for the NFL and its agenda with each passing year.

You are SO right on here! I guess O-Lineman are expendable, the guy has like 30 stitches, if it had been an NFL posterchild Haynesworth would be lucky to see the inside of an NFL locker-room again. 5 games is a slap on the wrist. I hope the Titans follow up with more of their own.

From NFL Total Access: Apparently Haynesworth is trying to get the Gurode's phone number to apologize, I don't quite know what's taking so long. Also the D.A. in waiting to hear from Gurode on whether or not he's pressing charges. The real problem is that Haynesworth is showing a pattern for this type of behavior.

http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/TEN/9700907
"The 6-foot-6, 320-pound Haynesworth stomped on Dallas Cowboys center Andre Gurode (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/302198)'s head Oct. 1, knocking off his helmet, then kicked and stomped his face. Gurode needed 30 stitches to repair the cuts left by the tackle's cleats, and plans to talk with his family about whether or not to press charges, his agent told Nashville police Oct. 2."

"During 2003 Titans training camp, Haynesworth kicked center Justin Hartwig (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/302043), now with Carolina. Charges for a road rage incident earlier this year were dismissed."

I agree completely. Yeah it's the longest suspension, but look what he did! He should be out for the season, if not booted from the league. Completely disgusted by the NFL on this one.

Agreed... the Denver Broncos have been cut-blocking for years and the league has done nothing about it...

I totally agree with you there on all points. Celebrating, at the most, will hurt a team's pride and either demoralize them or make them want to play harder. Besides it's overall fun for the fans, but if player smiles they are quick to reach for the flag or hand down the fine.

Here you have someone that tried to assault someone on the field. Football is a violent game, but what Haynesworth did was downright assault. Cleats hurt like hell when you're accidently stepped on, and this fool stomped down with force. The league should've handed down a harsher penalty.

Just read that he may press charges. I hope he does. 5 games is a complete joke.

If this was a Manning or McNabb they would have had a public execution.

Seriously, if you can't beat the Titans, you don't deserve to go to the playoffs.

This was an obvious criminal act and should be prosecuted. If you or I intentionally stomped someone in the face that required 30 stitches, we'd be facing felony malicious wounding. 5 game suspension, what a crock. He should have been suspended and not allowed to play until he received treatment for anger management or cleared by a shrink. 5 games, is that going to ensure he doesnt go off and stomp another player next year? I dont think I'd want to be at the bottom of a pile against him...
