View Full Version : Steeler fans getting in the hate...

My P.E. teacher said that the skins are going nowhere because they are unconsistent. Now, I brought up the 5 games in a row winning streak and she just brushed it off.

All I know is that the steelers season will be over if they lose to the chargers.

They will be 1-3....last in their divsion if the browns can pull off a win.

I have to say that the AFC north might be the hardest division in football.
Ravens
Bengals
STeelers
Browns

Did your teacher really say "unconsistent?"

If so, you need not take anything else she says seriously.

My GF is a steelers fan, but all i have to do is play the name game with her and she stops talking. What is the name game, you might ask? You simply say "Hey, if you're such a big fan, name 5 steelers from the 70s super bowl teams." She can always get about 3, but that's it. And the debate ends. :point2sky

Steelers fans are just bitter at this point because its week 5 and its looking pretty good that they will not make the playoffs.

I don't think people realize how hated the Redskins really are. As much as the Eagles and their fans are disliked the Redskins are very close behind. Many people I know hate the Redskins more than most teams. They say their fans are the most homeristic of them all. Now mind you these aren't all Eagle fans. This is a wide majority of fans from different teams. For some reason you guys just aren't liked. I have my reasons but I don't think about the homer factor (we all are at heart.)

Very true.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on the AFC North being the toughest division in football. Still the NFC East by a long shot. All four teams can win the division in the NFC East, unlike the AFC North, because there is no way in hell that the Browns will win the division, and Pittsburgh is fading fast.

Therefore, all 4 teams in contention > 3 (most likely 2) teams in contention

The sheer size of the Redskin fan base coupled with the sitgma that Daniel Snyder is the George Steinbrener of the NFL, its a given.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes love him; so much so they are house shopping in Loudoun County.

It's more than just Dan Snyder. A lot of people just don't like the franchise. My reasoning is growing up in the area as an Eagle fan and you can easily get sick of the media around here talking about the team. Thankfully most Sundays I'm in Philly for the games and I don't have to worry about it.

The one thing that really balances it out for me is that my father is a Redskin fan and if he's upset about something over the week and the Redskins win (especially in the fashion they did recently) then that makes him feel better which in turn makes me feel better. I still don't like the team though.

Fanbase size is a factor, yes. One of the more passionate fanbases, too. So it can get annoying and frustrating if you're not a fan of that particular team.

Its still early and will have to wait and see, but I also believe the AFC North is far more potent at this point. Between Cincinnati and Baltimore you have two definitive Superbowl contenders, and who knows with the Steelers and the Browns. In the NFC East can you really say that anyone is looking like a Superbowl caliber contender right now? The Redskins, Cowboys, Giants, and Eagles are all pretty mediocre at this point.

I think a division with better all around teams which Cincinnati and Baltimore are at this point though I hate to say it, is more impressive than 4 teams still searching for an identity.

Think about it. You were growing up when the Skins were kicking the ass off the Eagles, Cowboys and (usually) the Giants on a regular basis. Baltimore had lost the Colts. Of course the Skins are all you're going to hear about.

When I lived in KC in the 90s, and Dallas was all the rage, you didn't hear about the Chiefs or Broncos nearly as much as the Cowboys. When you're winning, you're in the news nonstop, deservedly or not.

You developed a special dislike for the Skins because they were the top team of the 80s, and they pushed your Eagles out of the spotlight in Philly. Now, you're competetive, and you're still holding on to that dislike of the Skins from years ago.

My advice is to let it go and be the Skins fan we all know you want to be. :silly:

Stafford, VA...................sounds like an upperclass kinda place. Sounds like there are a lot of rich kids driving daddy's car and spending daddy's money, living in the fresh prince of bel-air type houses, with butlers and what not. Rich girls driving convertibles with their hair blowing in the wind, showing off to all the other middle-class kids how rich and lucky they are, talking like "OH MY GOSH, Like we are so freakin rich! LIKE totally girlfriend, I'm gonna ask daddy for a new car, and a new $400 louie vutton purse because you know he'll buy it for me." I hate that.

Thank God your a redskins fan!

so you've never actually heard of Stafford, VA... you're just making a giant assumption based on what you think it "sounds" like?

incorrect. stafford is a ways away from northern va and in general a nice, middle class suburban area to live. ironic that you are citing spoiled kids in "rich cars" with designer purses, etc, but you slip in that nice little "i've been all over the WORLD" comment. there's a huge difference between saying "is it nice or am i wrong" and saying "is it +$100k income all over the place or am i wrong"? yeah, it's nice, but it's not full of the people you described.

in relation to this steelers chat, i just so happened to move to pittsburgh this semester and i can say that it's nice to finally see this team lose for once. i like the steelers as a team, but the fans can be really, really, REALLY obnoxious. a lot of the fans i talk to here about football simply say "redskins suck" and they just kind of assume that their precious team is going to win like it's their birthright. the town as a whole has incredible spirit for the team, but it's just really old when you get people (like the girl i talked to at a sandwich shop) who are like "ohhh skins huh? you happy with hines ward?".

that is exactly what I thought after they lost in the playoffs after 2004, then won last year. They feel it's their birthright to win. Hines Ward crying cause "Jerome won't get his ring this year" after the 2004 season, I mean, there are 1500 more athletes in the NFL who want/"deserve" that ring too. They are passionate fans, an old franchise with a large base like the Redskins, but I would say we aren't as obnoxious. Then again, lots of our fans are slowly discovering the team again.

Oh yeah, in regards to the comment about testing their knowledge, I asked a "Steelers fan" friend I know to name 5 players on the team, this was a week before super bowl. She got Big Ben, The Bus, Hines Ward, and the defense guy with really long hair. She also had her new Roethlisberger jersey that she just got in that week.
