View Full Version : Etan slimmer, Haywood bigger?

Is it just me - for those of you who saw the Zards TC special on NBA TV - does Etan look that much different? He looks like he may have lost 15-20 pounds - maybe that is a little much (I've always been bad at putting numbers on weight loss from sight)
Haywood definitely got bigger too, but when they matched up against each other Haywood looks like he is as big as Etan now, or more likely Etan slimmed down a lot.
Hopefully no more pulled abdomens now for Etan... it would be so nice if he could be who he should be on the court. Lord knows he plays hard enough.
If you didn't see it, or want to check it again, check this clip from wizards website
about 3/4s of the way through they are really matching up with each other and it is real noticeable.

Does anyone else see a shocking difference? Or is it just me....
PS: Nice to see PJ Ramos getting some run in that clip too, he was playing behind booth on NBA TV, might have just been Eddie responding to PJ's complaint about the bigmen drills not being on TV.

Brenden looks about the same size; Etan might have lost a couple of pounds. IMO.

I just hope Poet and Brenda surprise me and stop taking games off.

Brendan seems to get bigger every offseason. He has to continue to put on weight if he doesn't want to continually get pushed around.
Etan's problem isn't weight, it's height. And unfortunately, I think he's done growing.

Etan isn't that short - I've met him and he is at least a good 4 inches taller than me (I'm a tallish 6'5"), and he has decently long arms. His problem was definately getting hurt all the time - which was rumored to be linked to his weight over-workout (similar problem like David Boston has/had) and a lack of cardio (often because of his back problems)
Plus Etan can jump pretty damn high - you don't need to be 7 feet in the NBA anymore, you need to be strong and explosive off the floor - which Etan can be. I dunno if you've ever had back problems - but they are about as bad an injury as a bigman in basketball can get, worse than knees or ankles I think.
I dunno though, I still see Brendan winning the job, but I still have a hard time handing my fan-heart to Brendan, just to see him crush it under his stilleto-heeled shoes when he transforms to Brenda.

True. But at 6' 9" it's hard to start him against the 7 footers out there. I think it'll be the same story as last year. Brendan will start and have some good games and some bad. Etan will come off the bench when we're flat and bring that energy that he has.
If brendan could develop one go-to shot, like a good hook or something he could be a much bigger threat, and at least make the centers work on the defensive end. Grabbing missed shots and dunking it isn't enough for a starter.

Brendan's biggest problem is that he can't palm a ball. If you can't palm a BBall (which is unbelievable to me being that he is 7 ft) your ability to quickly dunk is hampered - it is why BH always gets the ball knocked away when he double clutches before going up to get a good 2 handed grip.
I dunno, there are lots of 6'9 and 6'10 centers who are plenty effective around the league. It looks like Brendan is playing well again though, if he could even just play his 2004 level ball it would be such a boon to this club it would be unbelievable.

Brenda's biggest problem is he cant play center in anything but streetball.
I just saw that the Warriors are close to getting Ely in a sign and trade deal.
If we had traded for Mags and gotten Ely too that would have been a huge improvement over Brenda, Poet, PJR, Booth and Blatche.
Our FO is ineffective and we extend EG for 4 yrs.
Is it possible to buy out Poet and Brenda and get some real talent?

Etan isn't that short.. he's about Ben Wallace's height.
Coming into the nba, he was playing PF.. think we can start them both? :)
Brendan plays pretty good defense... he's gotten bigger so that should help.. and thats all we really need from him. We have plenty of scorers.. if he's wide open.. just learn to catch and dunk.. pretty much what kwame does in LA.

I am not as big on Magloire as you seem to be, he's alright... on a team like the Blazers, but Ely... I'm a real big fan of his, he's an athletic hard worker...
I'm sure they could buy them out, but it would probably cripple the team financially... I dunno

I bet we could buy them out for 6mil total and have an extra 6-8 mil to play with since we are a million or 2 under the cap....I think. Plus we have a second first rounder coming up next year or the year after if I remember correctly and we would be able to trade other players for talent aslo...giving us a good negotiating stance. Alot of people would take some of our up and coming talent like Hayes, et al. It would open up a world of possibilities for us.
Mags and Ely would fight it out for first string...That would be a change, 2 talented guys that are 1st string material. Mags would probably lose out. Brenda could take his rightful place at third string.
