I'd figure I'll keep this bumped up every week until the end of the season.
We can keep adding your top guys every week, and see what happens
I've got to say Rex Grossman 5 straight good - to great games.
runner up
Frank Gore. (ok a bad pick at #2)
Mcnubb is my #2

Frank Gore?
An average running back with a fumbling problem on a bad team is your MVP runner-up?
Doesn't make any sense.

Ok maybe not runner up, but the dude has 465 yards rushing and another 167 receiving. I would not call him an average back... average backs do not do that. Knock SF now but they are a up and coming team in the league.

I'd put Manning over either of them, maybe not as good of stats but he has been more important and valuable to the Colts success
Palmer second, Dunn third

Average back that happens to be tied for the league lead for rushing yards with another 167 yrds recieving to boot, damn I ll take an average back anytime.

It is hard to argue Manning because he is so valuable to the Colts. He could win the MVP every year. I'd have McNabb over Palmer, Carson has played well, but McNabb looks very good, especially for coming off the injury he had. :eaglesuck

WHAT???? You take McNabb off that team and they wouldn't have won a game yet this year, even the Texans.
McNabb-yes as much as it pains me to say-is going to be the runaway MVP this year.

not McNabb, because his performance is as expected, he's in an all pass offense
not Chicago's defense, because I expected them to be dominant

As much as I hate Philly, I agree with you that McNabb is the MVP so far, but the taking a player off the team arguement really doesnt work here. Take Manning off the Colts and they are terrible especially without Edge. :eaglesuck

With week 6 gone, Both Mcnubb & Grossman had bad games.
My new MVP for the season is Drew Bree's. He is the main reason the saints are where they are. If this dude is not listed as an elite qb of this league there is something wrong.
My runner up is: Urlacher

McNabb's numbers from Sunday: 19/32 for 247 yards (2TD, 1INT) That interception was at the end of the first half on a hail mary pass.
I don't think there is anyone who would say Drew Brees isn't playing top-5 QB level right now. However, McNabb has over 1800 yards, 13 tds and 2 int. What's going to hurt his chances for MVP is that his numbers will most surely slow down in the second half, but he still will end up with silly numbers barring injury.

Why is everyone ignoring Drew Brees?

Even as a Saints fan I would give McNabb the edge, although Brees is a close #2. The Saints have a better rushing game than the Eagles, and it is conceivable that Martin and McAllister/Bush could squeak out a few wins if the defense had a good day. Brees basically won us the game against Green Bay, and the 8:26 drive against Philly that sealed the deal is something I will remember for a long, long time. But the Saints would probably suck slightly less than the Eagles should both their starting QBs go down.
I don't see how anyone could pick Grossman. The title is Most Valuable Player. You saw how the Bears played with Kyle Orton last year they were 11-5 and made the playoffs. Sure Grossman has played well(not last night though). But the Bears defense will win games. The Eagles defense won't.

October-20th-2006, 06:01 PM
I would say Mcnabb for some odd reason every sports writer wrote off Philadelphia in the pre season. This is pretty much the same team that went to all the nfc championship games. The only reason they were so bad last year was because of the injuries. If they had been healthy I don't think the T.O. situation would have affected them.Mcnabb has come back strong and shown that this team is for real.

October-20th-2006, 06:08 PM
Steve Smith, hands down. The dude comes back and the Panthers are all of a sudden explosive and on a 4 game win streak. If that's not "most valuable", I don't know what is.
2) Brees, 3) Grossman, 4) McNabb

As much as I hate to say it as a Dallas fan, it's McNabb. He's the sole reason for their success. If he plays well, the Eagles have a great shot at winning. If he doesn't show up, they're probably one of the worst teams in the league.
A close second is Steve Smith. Carolina started out 0-2 without him, and they're 4-0 since he came back. Hard to beat a playmaker like that.

I think Westbrook deserves more mention than McNabb. The Eagles running game consists of short passes to Westbrook. McNabb gets credited passing yards and passing TD's, while Westbrook gets to read all week that the Eagles have no running game. Turn those passing yards into rushing yards and you've got one of the best backs in the game and just a good McNabb. I don't mean to take a shot at McNabb, he's a great QB, but Westbrook deserves alot more credit than he gets and McNabb takes alittle to much credit than he deserves.
With that said,
Peyton
