View Full Version : Matt Leinart is a baller

This guy talks a little smack about the bears, saying hes played good defenses before and is not intimidated by them.

Not saying that the cards are going to beat the bears tonight, but I think Leinart is going to play very well and his team has a better chance of winning than most people think.

Thing is, he's 'brand new' to that offense, as is Edge James.

Yet all we hear are excuses for Brunell being new or justification for Campbell "not being ready." Meanwhile Leinart is FRESH out of college and holdin' it down, seemingly.

scruffylookin
October-16th-2006, 07:59 PM

Matt Leinart is probably one of the most composed (save for big Ben) and polished rookie qbs to come into the league in a long time. During pre-game, they were saying that he has a quiet confidence about him like Tom Brady. Ok, when you can be mentioned in the same sentence as Tom Brady as a rookie for an attribute and not because you were also drafted very late, then something has gotta be going for you.

The Cardinals (both offensively and defensively) have definitely stepped it up. Big time. I wouldn't go as far to say that the Bears O has stunk it up or anything, but they certainly aren't playing to their potential.

Right now, I don't think so.

University of Phoenix Stadium features a unique rollout natural-grass playing field, contained in a single tray measuring 234 feet wide by 403 feet long and weighing a hefty 18.9 million pounds. The first completely retractable field in North America, it will be positioned inside the stadium on game days to offer the preferred natural-grass playing surface for football and outside the stadium the remaining 350+ days of the year to receive the needed sunlight and water to grow. A total of 462 steel wheels riding on 13 parallel steel rails are used to slide the field tray in and out of the facility.

I've never heard of that before.

No I remember that too.

The field is mobile so they can move it outside and grow the grass and then move the entire field into the stadium.

This way they're playing on the real stuff even if the roof is always closed.

It's a damn nice stadium but let's not blame Snyder for FedEx. Our place was a rush job by the late great JKC. Snyder inherited the place, he didn't design it or build it.

I know they have been told not to blow the whistle too soon but if someone effectively tackles you and then just holds you up so someone else can get the strip attempt that's lame. It is also a set-up for lots of injuries as guys are kept upright and bent backwards and hurt just so a guy can make a play after a play is essentially over.

:insane: He was hit before he even finished his pass drop because his lineman just decided he didn't need to block the guy on the outside looking to take his QB out.

A big part of winning games is for your RB to hold onto the ball (and for officials to protect players by not letting them just get held upright when a play is over for a bogus fumble) and for your 'star kicker' to make the game-winning kick that your QB put you in position to attempt.

Also, it's nice when a coach doesn't play it safe by running twice instead of doing what got you downfield. A 19-30 yard FG? sure. 40 is just enough to not trust fully when you had time on the clock and the ability to deliver a sure kill shot.

Well. Didnt think this thread was going to turn into the official game thread but thats cool.

I was reading stuff about this game today and saw the jabber between the bears D and Matt Leinart. I was impressed with Leinarts attitude saying hes not intimidated and thinks he does well under pressure.

I knew the cardinals had a chance to win this game. The cardinals knew all week that they are better than their record, they said they should be 3-2. They were given zero chance to win this game by the oddsmakers and everyone else in the country.

I dont think the bears are as good as they have shown the past games. Dont get me wrong, they have a championship team. They have a good possibilty of making it deep in the playoffs. But their offense showed tonight that it can be shutdown. Seriously, they were shutdown tonight.

As for Matt Leinart

He has showed that he is not intimidated by the pressure monday night football mistique, and the pressure of playing one of the best Defenses we have seen for a while. Hes done this before in big games, hes played in a lot of them. More than most NFL QBs. The guy simply put as the thread indicates..

Matt Leinart is a baller.

p.s i picked the bears to win, not covering the spread.... sweetness.

I dont think the bears are as good as they have shown the past games.

Maybe. Or maybe they did what very good teams do, which is that if one part of the team falters, the other parts of the team step up their games even more. The Bears' defense and special teams did just that tonight.

GibbsFactor
October-17th-2006, 09:18 AM
The bears just cemented themselves as a team of destiny.

Overcoming a charmed quarterback in a hostile territory with your offense absolutely sputtering, these are those miracle victories teams need to win it all.

I feel sorry for whomever the Bears play next.

Leinart is the future. Think the Raider are kicking themselves over this one?

I don't. While the QB situation in Oakland isn't very pretty....no situation in Oakland is very pretty. I think Shell did a decent job drafting this past April, getting some very talented players (Huff, Bing, Howard), who will only get better.

Plus, we've seen guys like Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer win Super Bowls.
