*I tried to search, but it kept giving me an error... I don't see this topic on the front page right now.

So now we're up to two 'Messages for the Fans' . The first time, I think it was well placed and I enjoyed Randy's attitude. I really believed that the team may come out swinging against tenn. and really be pissed off at it itself. It almost felt like Randy had come up with the idea and just squeezed his way onto redskins.com tv. It felt real.

This time, they have Marcus doing the fan message and it appears very forced. I agree with what he says in it, but it's kind of making me embarassed. Do the redskins really need a message to the fans every week now? Are they that desperate that they think everyone has given up on them?

I dunno, it just seems a little odd to me, for this team to be constantly saying the season is early but they resort to having staged messages of hope sent out to the fans. We are not the oakland raiders.

Last year at 5-6 they didnt need 'messages to the fans'... how do you all feel about this trend that seems to be developing with the messages?

Well, if they play like they did in the Tenn game, then they need to stop.

It is early, but time is running out. I just hope that these messages are not cop outs to the losses.

We need to step it up, pull an upset on Indy and gear up for Dallas in 2 weeks.

To me they sound like cop outs and poor excuses. I find them a bit pathetic. They need to worry about playing well and things will take care of themselves. If it's as you say and they are staged I can only think that the organization is doing it to keep from losing a portion of their 'fanbase' so that they continue to purchase merchandise and such. They need to understand that the fanbase is not going anywhere (those that deserted were never part of the Burgundy and Gold anyway) and they need to realize that soliciting support with what amounts to using players as cheerleaders is not a substitute for winning games. Talk is cheap. If there really are some players that read the material at ES here is a message to you, abandon the empty rhetoric and go out there and win some one and one battles and represent well, and by all means focus more on the game plan than on what people are writing and saying about you! The way you play is the only thing that determines the success or lack thereof you will have this season, not whether or not everyone is praising you or criticizing you. If criticism bothers you and affects your play then this team has more problems than X's and O's.

Message to the Players!

Stop smiling.

Stop doing dances in the 4th quarter because you got a sack when we're losing the ball game.

Stop worrying about the fans.

Knuckle down, get pissed, win games you are capable of winning.

I hope this raised your spirits.

You forgot about the shake and bake after a 1rst down(which we havent had enough of either).....

It looks very bad IMO....I wish they would stop them...bad bad idea whoever had it. It looks very desperate. Maybe they could put a link for us to donate so they can go get more FA in the offseason......wow, cant believe I said that, been reading this board too much lately....lol :D

I agree 100%. I don't like the smug look on Marcus Washingtons face in this clip.

Brian Urlacher had more tackles then the Redskins entire linebacking corps combined last week. If I was Marcus Washington, I'd be pissed because I haven't seen our LBs do much at all this year.

I think the message to the fans should simply be back your friggin team, and no more of this booing BS. If our guys are struggling out there they need our support. Do you thin they get any extra boost from us berating them AT HOME?

The celebrations are neccessary. They are meant to pump up their teammates and get some positive energy going. Something they haven't been getting from the stands.

I agree and disagree.

As for the smiling and dancing.. I can understand when you are losing badly. If you are down by a small margin you have to have fun. Celebrating and having fun helps build momentum and help the players stay loose.

Look at last year.. Our players were having fun. They stayed loose and helped us win games. I just think the injuries are killing any opportunity to swing momentum in our direction.

I scream like hell from home....they just dont hear me!:silly: :D

Sorry, I'm old school...the first down celebrations wear on me...I love Santana but it's just nuts. I big huge gain and I can accept it a little bit better. Who knows...winning would make it all just fine! They could celbrate in their undies just for being on the roster then and I wouldnt care! LMAO:cheers:

I've never booed my team. Ever.

The celebrations should be reserved for when there's something to celebrate. Theres way too much screwing around, and I'm mainly talking about our defense here, before the ball is snapped. And like I said, I watched Washington clowning and chest thumping after a decent play (when we'd just let the Titans take the lead). To me, thats utter bs.

They got plenty of noise from the stands ..... they just did zero to sustain it. It was deafening when we pinned the Titans deep late, for example. When you let them immediately reel off a 10-15 yard run (knowing they're going to run!), you're not going to sustain that kind of fan emotion.

What I'm saying is....focus on your own performance. You perform, you won't be able to keep the fans quiet. This idea that its 'the fans' that need motivating is total crap.

I have not had the priviledge of making a game this year, as I am in Australia. But what has truly saddened me is when I do get to watch the games, I have heard loud boos coming from the stands early in games. That Titans game, we were never out of it yet booing was distinguishable over an internet stream early in the second half. That is some pure rubbish. We are better fans than that!

That bugs me too. I thought JG picked guys with strong character over another player with more talent. The dancing while we lose bugs me. I think it shows disrespect for the team attitude. Me Me Me, look at me, I don't care if we lose, look at me!

I wish they would just shut up and show up on the freakin' field. There is no excuse for a team putting that crap on its website, trying to convince its fans NOT to flee running and screaming away to follow the slightly better off Ravens. Listen, that crap on the website, coupled with some really stellar performances by our beloved Redskins, is making us the laughing stock of the NFL.

They already have fan support. We still spend money to buy their jerseys, pay for tickets, spend an entire afternoon every Sunday dedicated entirely to the Washington Redskins. To get on the internet for all to see, begging your fans to stay with you shows that your priorities are skewed.

First, WIN THE !@#$ GAME! Then your fairweather fans will think about staying with you. The diehards, like me, will always be burgandy and gold. I don't need any stinking video to convince me that you're pathetic.

To be honest, I'm indifferent on the Message to the Fans thing.

But like Brandon Lloyd said last week, they shouldn't be focusing on what the fans think and just buckle down and do their jobs and the rest will take care of itself. However, I can see how they might feel like they need to do it after hearing a couple thousand people boo them (not that they weren't deserving of it). Either way, it doesn't really irk me that bad.

I just wonder if they are going to continuing doing it if we win.

Solid post. I think those messages are designed to keep the casual fan from jumping ship and continue 'supporting' the team financially.

Instead of those stupid ass messages, maybe they should channel some energy into the game and actually show it there then we wouldn't need a message.

Anyway, Yes, I think it is good because the players know how the true fans feel abou their perfomance and that can't do any harm.

I want to see them get the goat of the week on there if they keep losing, lol.

Last week would have been the defense and punter and Brunell for that int at the end when he was supposed to be leading a comeback, also Randel El for fumbling. :D
