With the eagles losing three straight....
The Bucs with a rookie QB
and unbelievably depleted jaguars team
The eagles were favored by +5 in each game.
So for Pocono who has been lurking in the stadium rubbing salt into wounds, and the rest of these bums here is your own vent thread.
Congrats
The eagles lead the league in drop passes +30. (total slop)
Better tell Joe Banner who justified the signing of Jabar Gaffney by calling out the redskins for signing Randel El.

Well you need to understand that Philly has that incredible player acquisition/evaluation system in place.
You see, a team like Philly really knows how to build a winner. The team uses the draft well and is extremely effective in its forays into free agency.
They are a young team with a boatload of potential and talent that will not be denied.
These three losses were a mirrage created by Andy Reid to lull the NFC East to sleep. However, if the team purposely contiues the mirage for the rest of the season it can always look to the fact that it leads the league in unused cap space and will continue to build a winner (through the draft) like the one we see today.

Any coincidence the Eagles havent won since beating Dallas?
I said it before, I'll say it again.
That Dallas game was thier Super Bowl. The Dallas game in Philly is traditionally thier Super Bowl every year.
But this year was like no other. They wanted and needed that win more than any other in a long long while.
They got it. Theyre content.
And they'll end up around .500, just as everyone predicted.
That Dallas game must feel like decades ago to Eagles fans.

They'll regroup after the bye. Teams doing bad, if 4-4 can be called bad, need a break from the losing. The Eagles could easily refocus their mindsets, and McNabb can get his head straight again. They could just come out rolling like they did earlier in the season.
Lot's of coulds, woulds, and shoulds.

The Eagles feasted on teams like the Texans, 49ers, and Packers during their early-season run. The only team of any considerable quality they beat was Dallas, and only after a horrible game by Bledsoe, and they almost let the Cowboys tie it at the end!
Philly will need to go 5-3 the rest of the way to get to 9-7 and that's going to be a chore. Even then, do you see the Eagles as good enough to go into Soldier Field and win in the playoffs. Sure, they did in 2001, but those Eagles and Bears teams were different from these editions.

No way. I hope I didn't insinuate that in my post.
It's 16 games in a season. They have eight more. McNabb is a good QB. That defense is a beast. It is possible the bye week will help. You have to admit, their bye came at the perfect time. You never know how they're going to respond to these losses they've had. If only they had a TJ Duckett to move the ball in the 4th quarter. :D
By the way, I don't think anyone can beat the Bears. They had their bad game against the Cardinals, and they still came out on top. They sure look like a team of destiny. I hate that! :mad:

We have a heartless team that no longer knows what it takes to win football games. The pieces are in place and the talent is there, but the focus and moxy that characterized the Eagles from 2000-2004 is gone.
We are an exceedingly average team right now.

I have little to no theory as to why, but I know what I see when I watch the games. I see a team with no emotion, no urgency, no ability to make plays when they need to be made. Those are three things that ultimately characterized all the Eagles teams in the years I mentioned previously.
The only thing I can come up with is that we've gradually changed from a veteran team to a young team. L.J. Smith for Chad Lewis. Lito and Sheldon for Bobby T. Trent Cole for Hugh Douglas. Carlos Emmonds for Dhani Jones. Duce Staley leaving with essentially no replacement. None of those changed are exceptionally negative on paper, but taken together they have turned a winning-veteran team into just another mildly talented team with a good QB.
I don't know. I'm grasping at straws.

About the eagles. They need to drop this pride and get their act together. If they actually took the right mentality they wouldn't be getting beat like this. Pathetic. There are teams that are destined to be bad, and this is not one of them. They better figure something out over this bye week.

I agree. I truly hate their "we'll show you" mentality Rather than admitting their faults and making the neccesary changes to turn things around Reid and McNabb continue to do things their own way, hoping in the end they'll be able to say "I told you so." Quite a haughty bunch we have.

Your theory has a lot of bite to it. Leadership and continuity are often overlooked by teams "building for the future".
This concept killed the Redskins when losing Pierce. The fact that he went to a division rival was just an added nail.

Is it really hard to believe that 23 year old college kids may not have the same competitive spirit as experienced veterans?
People constantly commend teams for having great veteran leadership. Is it really unbelievable that a team could be without a winning spirit because they went from old to young?
Regardless of the reason. The Eagles have no emotion, no urgency, and no sense of legitimate concern. Anyone who has watched these games knows that above all else this is the biggest plague to this team right now.

I don't know about that, but I do know Jones-Drew was running with effort. Maybe they should have had the mindset that the kid leaves the field on a stretcher the next time he wants to smack talk Dawkins. But they decided to continue to get dominated up front and miss tackles.

That's where I think you MAY be wrong. Everyone is apt to blame last year's Eagles meltdown on the TO saga and of course McNabb going down but truthfully the Eagles D was getting lit up. Even if TO had been a choir boy and McNabb had stayed healthy, Philly would NOT have ran away with the East last year, and probably would've been in the 10-6 range.
This year the team might be healthier, but the few games I've watched I've seen a defense that is highly suspect.

The TOP thing will continue to kill the team until AR decides he wants to actively address it.

Had the same conversation with my Eagles fan friend today. He said basically the same thing: "Where are we weak? I don't understand." He said RB...which isn't even really true because Westbrook is probably the second best player on the team. They don't control the ball by running it, but you can't blame that on Westbrook, moreso the playcalling. I went for linebacker, which was a position that was abused today but not so much normally. I don't understand it either. I don't think the Eagles have GREAT talent, but certainly better than they played today and last week.

I have been saying that since I can remember it doesnt matter what the Eagles do, how good their team is, what they do in the playoffs, god doesnt want the city of Philadelphia to ever win a Superbowl. When they got there in 2004 I wasnt the slightest bit nervous that they would win and we would have 1 less thing to use to make fun of the loud mouth Eagles fans that come to FedEx every year. I wasnt nervous because I knew there was no chance they would win it. None at all. God doesnt want the Eagles to win a superbowl.

FLATLINERS
ANGRY ANDY. Fed-up fans. Puzzled players. Yikes. For the first time this season, the Eagles did not lose a game because of a crucial penalty or a key turnover or a 62-yard field goal, or any combination thereof. They lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars the old-fashioned way, by getting their fannies kicked in the trenches on both sides of the ball.
* After third straight clunker, team says repairs are in order
* Dawk talks the talk after disaster
* Jags credit Jaws' mouth
* Rich Hofmann | Do you Reid me?Andy might have lost touch
* Phil Sheridan | Turnaround has to start with McNabb
* Ashley Fox | Birds are falling apart; Reid needs an answer
* Bill Conlin | It's a breeze, just not kind Birds thought
* Bob Ford | Birds have checked out for the season

Jags out rush Eagles 209 to 85
McNabb only threw for 161, with one third of these coming against a virtual prevent at the end of the game
Gerrard was only 10-17 for 87 yards. He never really had to pass!

That's absolutely not going to happen. When the schedule came out it was pretty much clear that the Eagles would have to start 7-1 or 6-2 in order to have a shot at a playoff berth or division title.
The Eagles remaining schedule is as follows:
Washington
Tennessee
@Indianapolis
Carolina
@Washington
@New York (Giants)
@Dallas
Atlanta
With the exception of Indianapolis and maybe Washington (unless Gibbs takes more control of the offense) these are all teams that take the same approach. They value time of possession, they're committed to running the ball and they play hardnosed physical defense. All of these are things you have to do to take it to a finesse team like Andy Reids Eagles.
At best I see the Eagles splitting their remaining games, and even that's a tall order.

Oh and by the way, Welcome to Extremeskins "Official Message Board of the WASHINGTON REDSKINS"
If you want compassion, go to The official "EAGLES" message board.
By the way, you are talking smack, after your team just dropped three in a row, last two, to backup QB's one being a rookie.

I still think we have time to make it right though. The bye week could be a blessing in disguise right now. Just look at the Giants, they looked terrible going into their bye week and they've reeled off 4 straight wins. And I couldn't care less about the fact that you're saying we suck on a Redskins board. The simple fact that you're team is 2-5 and you're still talking about how bad my team is doesn't make much sense.

I am so proud of the unity that rises up in this forum. We may beat each other with sticks and stones for most of the year but when some of us are truly down and hurting about our team. Many of the supposed "enemies" grow up and show up to console. I love extremeskins. :)
Westy, Number5, and Who Del should not despair too much. The Eagles are NOT 2-5. They are still in it and still talented enough to stay in it. Every team goes thru slumps. We had to win 5 in a row last season to sqeak into the playoffs. You mean to tell me that DNabb and that defense are incapable of coming back?
Look at it this way- You still get to play the Redskins twice! :doh: We'll be watching from the basement from here on out.

If your imaginative football theory makes you sleep better tonight, sweet dreams.
I guess I can play the "if" game.
"If" like the Giants after the bye, the redskins reel off 4 straight wins, we will be 6-5 and on our way.
"If" my great grandfather invested in IBM, I wouldn't have to work?

The problem with the Eagles are that they THINK they are elite when they are average. They could be *maybe* above average if they tried like their lives were on the line. But they don't. They continually let teams jump up 10-0, 17-0, as if this magical ****ing offense is just going to bail them out.
Ever since the SB, they have had this ****ing attitude. Reid teams before then were hungry to the point of desperation.

I expected a huge philly letdown after the "T.O. Bowl" but nothing like this. philly's schedule did get tougher but perhaps they're getting exposed now. It's still a long season. Right now, the giants are the class of the nfce.

[QUOTE=OWUeagleMD]There is an undeniable arrogance from a team that absolutely doesn't deserve it. The arrogance starts with Reid though, who would rather prove that his method is best than make simple adjustments Almost like Gibbs refusal to put Brunell on the bench?

So say your a 49ers fan, you can't say that Oakland sucks? Or anything like that? We are all football fans as well and if he wants to say you guys suck he can say that regardless of how our team does. A team sucking doesn't rely solely on what team you root for. Even if your team is in last place, you can still say another team sucks. Your logic is messed up. Last year a Texans fan could say that the Saints sucked. Cause they did.

As a skins fan you are not allowed to say that since we aren't doing good right now, sorry thats the rules that eagles78 has come up with. you cannot comment on any other football teams sucking if your team is sucking. :rolleyes:

Chicago sucks!
I don't think you get it. A fan of 2-5 team telling a fan of a 4-4 team that their team sucks is akin to a homeless person telling someone it sucks to live in a trailer.

... again just cause one thing sucks doesnt mean the other doesnt suck as well. I never said the eagles suck, but saying that cause hes a skins fan he can't mention another team in the NFL is rediculious. even fans of bad teams know another bad team. in fact, they know what a bad team looks like even moreso. According to your logic as I said last year the Texans couldn't say the Saints sucked. Plain and simple they both sucked. Just like the Eagles sucked last year. I could say that regardless of who I rooted for. The homeless person example is a dumb one cause again looking from the outside, they both suck. Different degrees of suck, but still.

I think there are teams that suck more than others. In my opinion Chicago might suck. But they don't suck as bad as Philadelphia. And we all know Washington sucks. More than Chicago and Philadelphia combined.

Yes.
But I get to watch yet another season go by where McNabb gets one year older, Dawkins gets one year older, Tra Thomas and Runyan probably finished. (although both playing great)
And Reid squanders his opportunities because of bad playcalling and poor/no gametime adjustments.
One more year without a ring. Gold standard my bung. :eaglesuck
Yes my team sucks, but I'll be drinking heavily on Sunday at Fedex, and the Eagles still suck and play with no heart.
BTW what's up with saying CHI sucks? I want to have a team that sucks at 7-0. That's not easy for any team.

I just used them as an example, dock. Chicago obviously is very good at 7-0. But saying some "sucks" is very subjective. Our definitions might be different.
