Alright, last optimistic thread for a while (I know ya'll just hate looking for anything good ;) ).

The fact for this season is that it is not lost, no matter how bad it may look right now. If we take care of our business, and come together, the playoffs are in sight, but that isn't the point of this thread.

The point is two things, but one largely overshadowing.

The smaller issue is that our D is FINALLY healthy (Rogers and Pierson will add to it when they come back - Pierson for next year). Williams can finally unleash his boys and they can help turn our whole team around.

The real issue I wanted to point out is that WHEN Campbell starts for us, if he does have the athletic ability (shows at Auburn) and some decent intelligence, he will have had plenty of time to absorb that big ass playbook.

Collins said it could take a year to fully learn it, and with JC sitting and taking notes, he should be able to know it backwards and forewards when he steps in, and he will just need to develop that chemistry with the rest of the team.

While this year CAN be saved, our future WILL be bright.

So here is to kicking Dallas' ass all over the field and JC's progression:

There doesn't seem to be that much talent in the pipeline on defense to make me think that they are going to turn it around next year. Springs ain't getting any younger and our LBs ain't getting any better.

Id like to see Rocky get the start, I mean why not. All the other linebackers from this year's draft are performing really well.

Wether it be Demeco Ryans, AJ Hawk, Ernie Sims, D'qwell Jackson. Give the kid a chance.

I hope we exploit Greg Ellis' coverage by lining up a TE to him, he's a former lineman, not as fast as a LB should be.

Don't forget Bobby Carpenter!

Seriously - McIntosh can't possibly play worse than Holdman...

Where did you hear that PP was coming back next week? I thought he blew his knee out, which takes atleast a year to come back from.

But seriously, when JC steps in he will have a mastery of an offense that can become the most explosive in the NFL.

I am all for Brunell RIGHT NOW, but when JC does finally step in, it may get very, VERY exciting.

Um, in just under two months next year WILL be next week. That's what he meant. Duh.

I think that we should concentrate on this year people. With Spring and Rogers back, we can start blizting again. That should take some of the pressure that Arch having to defend the long pass play. We still have a chance to salvage the season. We are a much better team than 2-5, how much better we'll have to wait and see.

I have a feeling that Rogers and Taylor are going to have big games.

I'd like to see Rumph moved over to safety though. But that is just a stupid fan talking.

Put Troy Vincent there now, and move Rumph there eventually, he could be a huge boon to the coverage by the safety.

ummmm...how is Rogers going to be aggressive with a heavily bandaged/immobile hand? Just cuz he's manning up doesn't mean all is hunky dory. he wasn't playing well to begin with.

He can understand the playbook but he needs to get use to the NFL speed. I think if we lose one of the next 2 games its time for Campbell to step in. Rather waste the end of this year getting him ready and knowing what we have then 2 seasons. If we dont win the next 2 playoffs are offically done.

I think the thought is, that if Springs is 100%, or close to it, that you leave him one on one, have Carlos crowd the line to get a jam (even a one handed jam would be better than nothing) play tight on the short stuff, with Taylor in support deep. Arch to concentrate on the run.

Not a bad game plan. Have there been any updates on Carlos recently regarding his hand? Luckily hes a DB and not a reciever so he doesn't NEED to be able to catch. However I am curious if his hand is going to be bandaged up or not. Remember TO broke his hand and played the next week and a recievers hands are much more important than a DB's.

YES!!!! Blitzing is what we are missing, we need more pressure on QB's. Sean Taylor needs to be let loose up the middle and we need to see a couple of CB blitzes. The coverage should be above average with those two back, hopefully.

Actually, what we are missing defensively is a LEGITIMATE pass rush. We have been blitzing some this year, but it's been picked up most of the time, and put our very suspect corners in a situation that they are pretty much doomed in. Rogers hasnt played well this year,b ut at least the thumb wont worsen his play; he couldn't catch anything with 2 good thumbs before he broke.

This season is done for, too many reasons to list as to why. Lets see what we have in our young players.

TO fractured his ring finger. Carlos broke his thumb. There is a little difference, but they say he's practicing, so....
