I mean come on. What a *****. As much as I hated him, Emmitt Smith played a whole game with one shoulder. How many times has Clinton played hurt? How about all of last year. Slaton strains his forearm, supposedly, and leaves the game. I think the fumbles hurt his feelings and he doesn't want to play now. Even if he is hurt it's a ****ing forearm strain. Hold the ball in the other arm *******. It's 3 vs 5. Grow a pair and play.

I have to agree. I really do. I feel for him, for but this is bigger than a forearm strain.

he wasn't hurt, he was just trying to come up with an excuse for constantly laying the ball on the ground.

Most critical juncture in the game and you are on the bench
Sad
On the other hand, Pat White is the man. He would not be denied and kept fighting till the last play

i know right? c'mon people, easy to say this while you are sitting on the couch-- you don't think SS wanted to be out there? RR even said he should'n't have been out there for that fumble. he had a muscle strain that didn't allow him to grip the football strong. he is a team player and didn't want to hurt the team. Dude is a gamer and had some bad fumbles. He isn't the first and won't be the last.

You can say whatever you want, but we are talking about a 20 year old dude who lays everything on the line. You can question his fumbles and inability to hold onto the ball, but you can't question my man's heart. Slaton and White are two of the biggest gamers I've ever seen.

Slaton and White are two of the biggest gamers I've ever seen.
They are the Juan Dixon and Lonny Baxter of mid-Atlantic college football.
...Minus the NC. ;)

I can question his heart. The man is a *****. A forearm strain? Come on. Ronnie Lott had the tip of a finger amputated so he could play. It's the biggest game for WVU in two decades and he's standing on the sideline because his forearm is weak? Please. If you watch other games it's apparent that Slaton is soft and shies away from contact.

You are out of you mind. Watch what other games? Tell me. It's pretty obvious you havent watched him.
The injury caused him to fumble on 2 consecutive carries. If you are a coach, are you playing someone that just fumbled twice?
You sir, are a dumbass.

Clearly you didn't watch the game. They said the coach kept turning around and asking Slaton if he was ready yet and he just kept standing there with a football in his hand while his team loses their biggest game in 20 years.

"The defensive players who tackled me obviously wanted the ball more than I wanted to hold onto it," Slaton deadpanned in the losers' locker room.
Perhaps it was not as simple as that.
UL's ability to pick up WVU's blitz made a difference in the game.
Rod said he jilted the funny bone in the wrist, which affected his hold on the ball, and probably had something to do with the two lost fumbles to start off Half 2. One stopped a drive and the other Malik Jackson carried back for a 13-yard score. Art Carmody's kick made it 23-14 in favor of the Cardinals.
"It was his funny bone. He tried to tough it out I guess. We didn't know much about it. So he tried to get a grip on the ball. The second fumble shouldn't have been (carried) out there. He thought he would be OK with it. He just couldn't grip it hard enough, said WVU coach Rich Rodriguez.
Rodriguez said the wrist and left hand of the ball carrier went dead for about the entire third quarter as the Cardinals went ahead 30-21.
"Maybe it was our fault too. Maybe we should have held him back until he got all the feeling back in his hand. We just weren't sure with where we were with that," said the coach whose team lost for the first time in 15 games."
