Never bet signitures on a 3-5 football team playing a division rival on the road who has lost 3 straight, needs a win to start the climb into 1st in the division, and is coming off a bye week :)

What the hell Bubba? Why the hell would you add text to a signature that you knew would take it over the size limit?
Something tells me if the roles were reversed, the staff would either fix it or allow me to fix it so I'd be able to sport the sig for the week, as per the bet guidelines.
Weak sauce.
I'm SURE Bubba will wear the signature for a week once his signature priveledges are given back.

I think he'll probably fall back on the fact that he mentioned specific days that he would wear the signature. He'll lean on the technicality and rebuke any accusation that he isn't a man of his word by saying that he was just playing by site rules and the peramaters of the bet.
Incredibly lame.
Edit: I spoke prematurely.

Bubba, we had a signature bet.....meaning, I own your entire signature. As per the terms of the bet, you will only display the image I have provided you.
By adding your own text, you not only are backing out of the terms of the bet, but you are attempting to lessen the sting of the signature; which is the exact point of the bet.
You will display the picture and only the picture or you will have backed out of the terms of the original bet.

wrong Westy, a sig bet doesn't limit me from adding anything outside the sig you provided, nor was any stipulation made or agreed upon the said otherwise. Many times losers have added text or pics, and stayed within board rules
I am wearing the sig you made as agreed for one week, I have maid no alterations to the image..... you don't have any additional say... next time be more specific and get an greement
Westbrook36
November-13th-2006, 06:06 AM
Interesting. When you add the line of text, you are knowingly breaking ES rules as your signature is outside the parameters. I made it 200 pixels on purpose.
I know Bubba wouldn't knowingly break board rules....
Especially since he knows that an infraction of the board rules can lead to him losing his signature priveledges; a staff member has already alerted him to the fact.
So, by knowingly breaking a board rule and by endangering his ability to pay up on the bet that has been made, one could ascertain that Bubba is knowingly backing out to the terms previously agreed upon.

15. Please maintain respectable size signatures within the limitations set herein.
Maintaining reasonable size signatures minimizes the amount of load time needed to access a given page. Furthermore, it reduces the amount of excessive scrolling required of users perusing threads. Signatures should not exceed 550 pixels in width and 200 pixels in height. These dimensions are not a guideline, they are a rule. It is the standard dimension for the entire signature size a member can use. Regardless of the quantity of photos posted, the sum area of all the photos must not exceed the stated size limitations. In addition, signatures should not contain any more than 10 lines of text. The sum total of the height (ie. 200 pixels) INCLUDES text or any combination of images and text.

BigDFan, who are you kidding? Bubba is welching. He knows it, I know it, you know it, and the entire forum knows it.
The point of the bet is to be humiliated. I know I was when I had to wear a signature of his choice last April. I did it, because I am a man.
Bubba only is going through with it because he wants to deflect the signature away from him to keep his all important internet image intact.
In order to do so, he is breaking ES rules. He knows this is a no no. Yet he is doing it anyway.

Some Observations
1. Sig bets are inconsiderate to the rest of the board members. As Redskins fans, we are all made to suffer by being forced to either disable the View Sigs, or look at Crackboy, Giants, and now gay Eagle fans pictures. It's like giving your tickets to one of them for a home game at Fedex. It should not be allowed.
2. Westy is clearly gay. And yes, there is something wrong with that.
3. At the end of this season, the Eagles Super Bowl trophy case, will still be empty.

Westy you never learn
1. Yes I am a staff member, I mod the News section, I don't have the access to ban anyone, in the Stadium forum... but all I have to do is pm TK, Jumbo.. etc...
2..Show me any agreement between us that says anything other than I wear your sig for one week which I am doing, and I may add without any alterations... nothing more
3. Am I lying or fabricating anything... you desired that sig, you made it, using pics you have used before... pics you have collected
4. Actually, Your sig's are against board rules, by displaying suggestive images... remember the daily babe thread (maybe not... not your "thing") but it was closed for that very reason, as have many posters sigs with half dressed women in them, also your Sig image is too wide, but UNDER the height limit allowing for text... and again, I did not alter the image, but gladly will :)

Your signature is not just the picture, your signature is everything below the sig divider line. This is easy to tell because when you go to user CP, it says "edit signature" and gives you the option to put anything you want in there.
So by betting your signature, you did not just agree to wear a picture, you gave Westy the right to your entire signature for 1 week.
Here (http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3197150&postcount=163) You say "sig bet"
Here (http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179703&page=6&pp=15) is where you say "I'll take your sig bet"
Now notice the keyword is "sig", NOT sig picture, not sig banner, not part of a sig, but the entire sig.
You lost and are refusing to pay up and give westy the rights to your "sig" for 1 week. I expected more from you bubba.

BWUAHAHAHAHA. First of all, you remind me of a hall monitor from grade school. No real power, but by god, don't make me run and tell a teacher on you if you get out of line.
Secondly. I don't think any of us care about "how big" the sig is. Most of us could care less about that rule, so the fact that YOU KNOW it doesn't impress anyone. When you get to the root of this whole thing is the fact that you made a bet on sigs, and your "adding" your :2cents: to the sig, which was not part of the bet.
I know you think your cute because your "technically" not doing anything wrong, but the fact remains you're not manning up. And the spirit in which the bet was made has been compromised. I find it surprising because I've seen you man up before, so to see you not do it now is dissapointing.

I gotta say bubba, I"m a little dissapointed in you. What good is a sig if you get to modify it? The whole point in the bet is to wear something you're going to hate.
I have to agree with big D and westy, the timeframe doesn't start until you use his sig and don't change it.
Right. Remind me to let someone tell you when your opinion matters a whit.

I've giving you some slack in fun, but don;t push it
bottom line I'm meeting the agreement 100%

and the fact your entire existence on this board you constantly have battled me over everything, even when you knew you were wrong, really weakens any credibility your "opinion" may bring in this matter..... as if you even have a say to begin with
Please. I'll question you all I want because:
1. You are 100 percent wrong.
2. You had the bet with ME.
I'd love to hear your explanation on how you're sig is within regulations when you added a line of text to a picture that is 200 pixels wide? The picture takes up the max. Same thing with the length. The smiley takes it over the limits.
BigD had it right. We had a SIGNATURE bet, meaning, you bet your entire signature. Seeing you weasel out of it is truely sad. From here on out, we all know you are simply not a man of your word. This is a petty argument, yet you know you are wrong and refuse to budge.
You know you are wrong when you start pulling out the "I'm a Staff member, I know the rules better than you, don't question me" routine.
If you know the rules so well, please explain how you can add a line of text to a 200 pixel wide photo and stay within sig regulations which say your sig can't be over 200 pixels wide.
Thanks in advance, oh holy staff member.

Technically not doing anything wrong is NOT doing anything wrong...

1. You're on one hell of a power trip for a news section mod. My bet is you're there because you're GREAT at finding breaking news but - because of the people skills you're displaying here - you'd make a suspect full mod at best.
2. One's signature does not HAVE to be a picture. So when you bet your signature, you bet everything that you have the power to edit under your User CP's Edit Signature option. Don't use loopholes, play fair, and honor your side of the bet like a true Skins fan. Man UP.
3. Can't deny he knows where to find the sigs but that's his own personal choice and the army does have a don't ask, don't tell policy
4. Said images are hardly suggestive unless you're trying WAY too hard to make them suggestive. Again, do we need to apply don't ask, don't tell? :silly:

I picked these pictures for the sig because Bubba has displayed homophobe behavior before....actually, many times. I knew it would bother him. It has, as we can all see.
It is his move. No amount of pressure from us will make Bubba man up and take his medicine. I should find the horrible signature he made for me last year that I wore for a week, without no statement or anything to deflect criticism during that week.

I was unaware that me and Bubba had a bet where we could place one picture into the other's signature.
It was my understanding we had a "signature bet" meaning I owned his signature for a week. Just like I own your signature for a week.
Not one picture. Not one line of text. Not one smiley. The whole thing. You are a welcher too. The only two people on this forum who feel you two should be able to welch and break the rules are you two.

After reading all of this, I'd have to say just do the sig the way it was intended or meant. Everybody hear knows about Westy's half naked man pics and adding text to it doesn't change anybody's views.
If it upsets Westy that much that you have added a little something to his sig, for the sake of argument, you should just eliminate it and go with the bet as Westy intended.
We all get pretty riled up here about each others teams. There's no sense in getting riled up at each other over something as trivial as a sig. bet.
To keep peace, I'd just change it and live with it for one week. Don't forget, they have to come back and play us again. Revenge is always sweet.

November-15th-2006, 07:13 AM
Hi guys.
Since none you actually know what the Sig Rule is, let's review. :)
In Bubba's case, the text puts him OVER 200 pixels in height. However, WB's image is also in violation as well. Let's take a look.

I'm just glad he ruled in on a signature bet between two long standing members of the ES community. I'm sure we'd have never came to any compromise. Now, with him letting Bubba off the hook, he has given him yet another alibi in this sad story.

Bubba, you will wear the correct signature of my choice for one week or you will forever be known as a welcher on ES for the rest of your time here. I already know of many fans on this site who will constantly remind you of this fact for the foreseeable future.

Where is Bubba?
Oh, I see, it is all so clear now. Bubba, like the petulant baby he is, will just ignore Around the NFL for the next few days. Well, he surfs invisible so he is reading every reply. He knows he can't win this one, unless he just flat out welches. That is what he is going to do.
He will claim plausable deniability later on. In the first post of this thread, Bubba set time guidelines for the bet. He will wait till that time and then start posting like nothing happened.
Bubba, you will wear the correct signature of my choice for one week or you will forever be known as a welcher on ES for the rest of your time here. I already know of many fans on this site who will constantly remind you of this fact for the foreseeable future.
Don't think Sunday ends this. Again, we bet signatures for one week. Considering that you haven't complied with the bet yet, you owe me one week whenever you finally come into compliance.
What a baby.
You're the one who gave him an illegal sig...own up to your mistake. You broke the rules...which is something you continually do.
If anything, the mods are easy on you.
I guess they let you hang around for entertainment value.

No doubt.
This thread has everything you could ever want.
Welching
Playing the "I'm going to tell a mod card"
A mod coming in and saying "just cancel the bet" (I still don't get that one)
Bubba and tr1 knowing they're wrong, but they keep digging anyway
Accusations that WB36 has a private collection of black man porn on his hard drive
Who Del predicting the demise of ES if he gets banned
Bubba dissapearing for almost 24 hours (when was the last time that happened, especially in the middle of an argument)
Me letting tr1 of the hook cause I couldnt' tell what the hell was going on with these bets. But now I regret the decision greatly, cause I have a collection of Asian man porn on my hard drive I could have finally put to good use.
This thread is better than the Season finale of LOST. Its like a massive car wreck on the freeway that I simply can't take my eyes off.
A member (I think it was Westy) said it best last week. We are truly more than just a message board. We are a dysfuctional family. And none of us would have it any other way.
I was actually trying to form a post along these precise lines but after reading yours I knew I couldn't top it. This thread is "F"ing compelling. :) HOT issue.

Well now I'm torn. He did finally change the sig, so I can't take your "Bubba is a welcher" sig, cause he's not officially "welching" now. He's just in hiding. Which in many ways is much worse, but technically its not welching. Its just being a chicken.

The agreement of the bet was as follows:
I would place his sig in the space provided for one week , Monday 12:01 am until the following Sunday midnight. The agreement period of the bet was not only met but exceeded by two days.
there was no posting requirements or limits placed or discussed
and the 3 days before I was put on IR, I posted several times, in fact I posted a lot more than Westy did when he lost a sig bet to me in the offseason... by probably twice the amount.... but I didn't whine and cry foul that he didn't post more
so lets see who is being manly
I wore the sig for the full agreed upon time frame plus two days
I posted several times despite no requirement to post even once
I made no changes to Westy's gay image
I didn't cry or whine that something was unfair or tried to impose new conditions or made up rules that were never discussed or agreed upon, after the fact
Westy refused to stand behind his boasts of a rout (which he still would have won), and only agreed to bet once he got all the advantages in his favor
Westy made an image that was not only questionable in taste, but borderline going against board rules, not to mention personally disturbing to many members
After winning the bet, and I met every agreed requirement, Westy has complained and cried foul, saying he was somehow cheated... making up "new conditions" that were NEVER mentioned or agreed upon before the bet period began, insulted me repeatedly , enlisting aid from other poor souls who have a personal grudge against me to try an intimidate, harass me by ganging up, and falsely accusing me of welching, or cowardness... even though there actions are a classic example of childish pettiness and cowardness
and now I am suppose to take seriously a person who likes to post out of context quotes of mine in his sig area, in feeble attempts to embarrass or discredit me..... listen to his "so called" unbiased opinion?
 umm yeah
How about the noble, respectable, and manly thing being, accept the terms he agreed upon.. and stop whining and crying like a little girl, or always falsely attacking someone to cover up his mistakes or weaknesses
just sayin'

11. Please do not use the “Quote” feature to quote huge blocks of text or pictures.
If you would like to respond to the contents of a particular post, simply quote the sentence or idea that you're commenting upon, not necessarily the entire post. It wastes space on the database and unnecessarily extends and clutters threads.
Additionally, let me add that your use of emoticons at innapropriate times is annoying, and nobody is laughing. Probably not even you.

Additionally, I'm glad that you didn't break a sweat typing on a message board, 'cause if you did, you might want to check back into the hospital for a couple days, as you're obviously in really bad shape old timer.
Thanks for your uninspired and totally useless opinion.
lets see the so called Cowboy fans and eagles fans who are agreeing with him are also posters with a long history of trying to defeat me in some debate... yet usually fail... and cry and whine about being mistreated by tr1 because he posts actual articles about Dallas and the eagles that are not always flattering on a REDSKIN Message board
oh if stating facts, and following the bet as agreed upon as being exposed... I am guilty.
way to man up and attack me on something you are not even involved with, making silly claims, and expecting people to think your so called opinion is important
trust me, you and your "redskin" fans have never had a great a laugh at my expense as I have had reading your feeble attack.
Don't agree with my opinions or theories fine, I am not perfect ... but have the balls to debate them with facts and logic, and try to prove me wrong,( If I am wrong I admit it... unlike most posters in this forum)
at least Westy and his minions have had the guts to at least debate me before they tried to insult me
And Yes I am a staff member on this board, and the position is voluntary, but I was asked to take it by the boards orginal founders and mods

Bubba, you keep saying you honored the terms of the bet exactly, which you yourself said were
saw what? :whoknows:
The bet was I wear his sig for one week Monday 12:01 am to Sunday 12:00 Midnight
nothing more more nothing less was agreed upon
But in the same post you say:
I placed his sig image in the space provided as agreed upon
:
This is funny, because in your previous post you say:
and those who make sig bets in the future, be sure to fully agree as too exact details before hand.... and not "do" like Westy wanting to add conditions, and make up "rules" after the fact......... and started crying foul
Which is ironic, because by adding the term "image" after sig, it is actually him who is "adding conditions" to the original wager. Unless of course he wants an entire contract written up with definitions and all that. The term "sig" constitutes your signature, plain and simple.
Bubba is a welcher.

That's the real issue here. You homos calling Bubba a welcher say he didn't follow the spirit of the bet, well that sig was way beyond the spirit of a sig bet.

The spirit of a sig bet is to embarass and humiliate a person for a given period of time. Westy's sig certainly did that. It probably wasn't the most tasteful sig, but it certainly was embarrassing. Mission accomplished.

I agree that humilation is part of a sig bet. But, this is a board about football. I think that a sig showing Westbrook running by a skin player would be more in line with this board and appropiate humiliation for the skin's fans making the bet. This sig is appropriate for the tailgate but not ATN. I personally do not want to see that sig. I know I could turn sigs off, but then I couldn't see my favorite sig (Sellers running over Dawkins -- Love that sig).

The simple fact that Westbrook36 would even have the concept of that sig come from his mind is much more embarrassing and humiliating to him than to anyone that would have to display it.

I disagree. We're all grown ups here. Yes, this is a board about football players, and thats what was in Westys sig. Football players. If seeing a few pics of shirtless guys is that upsetting, I would stay away from message boards, and the internet as a whole. Why just last week I googled "Uranus" for a school project for my nephew, and I was horrified at the results given back to me. Very vivid pictures. The moral of the story being, if you have a weak stomach, and can't take a few pictures or shirtless men, the internet is not a place for you.
The humiliation part comes from, some people thinking that bubba is a bit of a homophobe (forgive me if I'm wrong about that bubba, but thats the impression I get anyway). So in westys mind, and many others I might add, the sig becomes even funnier. At least it does to me.
I don't know westy from bubba in real life. If it had not been for westys drunken interview on the news, I wouldn't be able to pick either one of them out of a lineup. But anyone who thinks that because Westy created a sig about half naked football players and gave it to bubba, makes westy gay, is crazy. Hell, maybe westy is gay, I couldn't care less, but the sig doesn't prove a thing.
I will say one thing though in bubba's defense. If bubba was correct in that when westy lost a sig bet, and westy dissapeared like bubba says he did. I'm afraid I'm going to have to take back most of the things I've said about bubba in this thread. you completely miss the point, several people read the board at work, school, as well as children, and certain images are not apporiate to be viewed in certain places. Several images have been deleted from sigs, because of that reason... including several of scantally clad women, that many find enjoyable.
And while I had several people request I not display that image, I still used it as agreed upon

I am not sure where you get that idea that I am a homophobe, because nothing could be further from the truth, as I have shown in my opposition to many posts attacking gays, accusing players of being gay or going beyond the limit of a joke into tasteless
Not to mention my personal friendship with people of alternate lifestyles, one of my best friends I worked with, and helped get a good job at the phone company, after I started working there many years ago, was brutially murdered a couple years back here in Roanoke, in a well published hate crime, at a local bar by a sick human.

just sort of common knowledge. Everyone knows sig bets are intended to humiliate and embarass the loser.
Actually no it's not, I would say the common accepted sig bet has more to due with what the actual bet is about... though some razzing, and come-up-ance is expected in context of the dispute
example:
The bet Westy lost back in the off season was over understanding the CBA, and what was going to happen to the salary cap if the CBA was reached.
As his usual MO, not only did he contend he was right, but repeatedly attacked me, with a condescending tone.. that I didn't have a clue what I was talking about....
So the Sig Image I created was in context of the bet, and his attitude at the time
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v481/bubba9497/ebay/530c3c3d.jpg

WB's sig WAS a little over the top, but it certainly funny and accomplished its purpose..
I not sure how funny it was... but because the bet didn't define what the sig had to be, other than be within board rules, I used it as I agreed to do if I lost, as I would have expected him to do if he had lost.
For the record my concept of his sig image would have been using his boast over the image of the scoreboard

I wore his ridiculous signature which showed a redneck and a toilet bowl and said something like "Westy's opinion came from here" or something to that effect.

So many coincidences. I wish I had an admin account so I could do a quick query and see Bubba's IP all over ES during the time he was "in the hospital".

Aww, I guess I shouldn't have said out loud what many were inevitably thinking after this display. Normally, I wouldn't even think it; but you are a welcher and, well, where I come from, being a welcher is about the lowest thing a man can be.
Just lieing about being in the hospital is actually a step up from welching.
WB, that's way over the line. Take what the man says at face value. I agree with Tr1 on this one. And if you look in other threads, I think Bubba did not orginially honor your bet, and that saddened me. But to question his integrity is low. Really low.
As I have stated elsewhere, you just end up looking really low and childish, and take the focus more and more off Bubba. Congrats.

Just when you think it can't get any worse. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

It's an effective end all to any argument. Just like the Democrats do when they troop out people with diseases to fight their cause. You aren't allowed to argue back because then you look classless.
I call a spade a spade. Too many coincidences. I have my opinion and I stated it. Bubba knew he had an ace in the whole to get out of this whole mess.
Sorry, I'm not falling for it.

In the whole what?
Get a grip, dude. Seriously, do you have any idea how dumb you look right now? If you had just kept your mouth shut, most of us reasonably intelligent people are smart enough to see what was going on and draw our own conclusions. Instead, though, you insist on making an ass of yourself going out of your way to point out what was happening. Way to go. Way to prove your point.
No, seriously, I don't think less of you. Really.
It was hard to get any worse...

I don't get your emoticons. You're agreeing with him with the towel wave, but then disagreeing with him with the head shake? And now you're watching what will come of this with great interest while eating popcorn?
Strange...

I like WB busting Bubba's Balls! It's very well warranted. I'm also shaking my head that this discussion is still going on and at how bad Bubba exposed himself as a fraud on his own board. ..... and yes, I'm very entertained by it all goldeje!

I think on some level, most of us are. I agree Bubba looks bad, but at this point in the race, WB is overtaking him. Shaping up to be a photo-finish...

goaldje, I respect you. We spent lots of time talking as men about the nuances of the salary cap and labor negotiations last year. I'm sorry if you think less of me; but I felt some things just had to be said.

I dont see why sigs can't be around 1000 wide anyway. On my desktop the sig covers about 1/3 or even less of the bottom of the post so making it wider wouldn't even change anything other than getting rid of some of the blank spot.
Load time for one thing. Not everybody is on a high speed connection. Also, just because you settings have the sigs about 1/3 of the screen, the average person doesn't. It makes it better for the majority, not the minority.

Are you effing serious? Smack talk is one thing, but call a man a liar for being in a hospital is crossing a line. You truely are pathetic.

WB, I'm with you but you have to give the man the benefit of the doubt here. You shouldn't question a man's health, welcher or not. Bubba, glad you're o.k. man.

WD, putting words in my mouth again....
What's happened to you, man? So bitter...
Oh yeah, I remember now...the Eagles suck.

Yeah. I just made the whole thing up:
Perhaps it was lack of support from the mods? I dunno.
Considering the shabby treatment by the ATN crowd, I don't think he should have voluntarily disappeared for the week...others should have been dispatched involuntarily.
:2cents:
You get worse as the year goes on. What happened to you voluntarily disappearing?

Yup. Always has been. This whole arguement is rediculous. WB crossed the line too many times to count.

Sadly I have to agree with TK here, Westy what were you thinking posting that? This thread is getting out of control, I expected people to apologize after finding out his true reasons for not being here, but nope. He never agreed to post X amount of times, your sig was I'd say overboard and certainly could be considered offensive not to mention it was over the size restriction. He wore the thing for a extra two days, and changed it wednesday to just your sig without his extra text, and yet somehow hes still a welcher. Are you argueing over a mere day if that? Either way calling a man a liar after coming out of the hospital is pretty rediculious.
