View Full Version : FLA vs FLA ST....embarrassing

I have been watching Fla/Fla St games since I was about 10 (for roughly 20 yrs) and I can tell you - without a doubt - that was the worst game I have seen between the two. State's offense is (disregarding Duke) the worst in the ACC. Period. Now sit there and think about who makes up that conference and you will see just how pathetic that is. Weatherford would have no chance of starting for a number of Div III programs here in OH (Mount Union and Ohio Northern come to mind immediately). He very easily could have ended this game with six interceptions. You know just how bad it is when Booker is FSU's offensive player of the game.......with SIXTY TOTAL YARDS. And I don't want to hear that it was due to FLA's defense. This is the same FLA defense that let Vandy and S Carolina run up and down the field on them.
Anyone who has the nerve to continue clamoring for FLA to be in the discussion for the national title game is (without question) certifiable. They weren't able to muster a single, sustained TD drive against a team that surrendered 30 points AT HOME vs Wake Forest. Defensively, their secondary is very sub-par. FLA ST has an average (at best) WR corps and yet they gained separation and ran free for most of the day. Lucky for the Gators, it didn't matter as they were facing quite possibly the most inept QB in all of Division I. I remember sitting there thinking to myself "how comical would it be for Troy Smith (or even Chad Henne) to face this secondary"! I mean, this guy is as bad as I've seen. Then, State tries to bring in Xavier. What does he do? Immediately fumbles the snap. FLA wasn't causing these turnovers people. FLA ST is just that embarrassingly bad on offense.
This game proved two things to me.
1) It is finally time for Bobby to walk away. This program is a laughing stock.
2) FLA (as I have said all yr) would finish with a minimum of 3 losses if they played in the Big Ten. That's right folks - I said it. I have always been a firm believer that the SEC is the best conference in America. Not anymore. They have been overrated all yr. Give me Michigan, Oh St, and Wisconsin against Arkansas, FLA, and LSU any day of the week. FLA does not (and has not for some time) belong in the discussion.

I would put LSU up against Wisconsin, Ohio St, or Michigan. LSU is the only team in NCAA history to play all of their away games against Top 10 teams at the time. They got screwed against Auburn and they practically gave the game away to the Gators with 5 turnovers. If LSU had been properly prepared cough Les Miles cough, LSU would be in the national title hunt right now. If Jamarcus comes back next year, not only will he be in contention for the Heisman, but LSU will be in the national title hunt all year long, as they have all of their tough games at home. There might not be a team more talented than LSU in the country, apart from USC. Are there teams better coached than LSU? Absolutely. I don't dislike Les Miles, but he has really squandered some of the incredible talent on the team with his ****ty playcalling and decision making. Oh well, we will destroy whomever we play in the BCS. Book it. I'm sorta hoping it's Michigan, USC, or Notre Dame. Moreso, USC.

Ironically - I agree with almost everything you have said.
I feel (despite their record) LSU is the scariest team in the SEC. McFadden rolled up a lot of yards on them yesterday but that speaks more as to his greatness than it does a flawed Tiger defense. I love their front 7, they are a very physical team and - as always - they have speed to burn at WR and in the return game.
I guess the one thing we differ a little on is Russell. His physical stature is impressive and he has good arm strength. My biggest problem with him is his tendency to turn the ball over. Every time he tucked the ball yesterday I held my breath and hoped he wouldn't put it on the ground.

Wrong. The SEC is still better than Big Ten
There are 12 teams in the SEC and only 3 teams have a losing record.(1 team is .500)
There are 11 teams in the Big Ten and 4 teams have a losing record. (2 teams are .500) Less than half the Conference is above .500 :silly:
Big Ten has 2 Top teams, 1 good team, 2 average teams, and 6 teams that suck.
Sec has 1 Top team, 4 good teams, 3 average teams, and 4 teams that suck.

I'll admit that the Big Ten is a bit top-heavy, but isn't that what we are talking about here......which conference's "big boys" can beat the others ?
Do we really care if Ole Miss beats Northwestern? I don't. Comparing Indiana to Miss St doesn't really interest me either.
:D
Edit: If your 1 "top team" is FLA.....well.....that says it all.

Ok so when you compare "Big Boys" the Big Ten only has 3 Teams and the SEC has 5. When the 4th best team in your conference is Penn St. your Conference is weak.
I also find this funny..... Why is Wisconsin even considered to be a Top Team is it because they went 11-1 and didn't beat ONE Ranked team, is that why?
Both Conference has 3 teams ranked in the Top 10 and that's where it ends for the Big Ten. The SEC has 2 more Teams ranked in the Top 20.
SEC > Big Ten any way you look at it
