Jeez, it's awful quiet in here isn't it?

Time to man up and take your medicine byetches. All the jonkst you talked all year long ends here.

Your conference is a joke and you can't even win it. Therefore your team is a joke. All those magazine covers were a waste of ink. You were the most over-hyped, overrated team in recent memory and you just got smacked around by the South Florida BULLS, at home! (Though, you'll probably end up with a higher ranking and claim you're still better than the team that WHOOPED you on your home turf. Sound familiar?).

Ironically, this was after most of you wrongly predicted you'd still win an at-large bid.

As Al Pacino once said, "Vanity is my favorite sin." You were oh-so-wrong and you completely deserved what happened to you this year. Enjoy!

Damn, VT would absolutely wipe the floor with you. I WISH we were playing.

At risk of this being a call-out thread, I'll spare the names. But you know who you are.

Gosh, I love being right.

The best bowl WVU can go to is... the Gator? VT is going to the Gator or Peach (chick fila). So ummm no you aren't going to a better bowl, you are either going to the same bowl or a worse bowl. Hopefully VT and WVU can meet in the Gator so we can end this nonsense.

BTW WVU is not going to be that much higher ranked than VT, maybe about 5 or so spots.

Who have you beat??? Who the hell have you beat??
NOBODY that's who

I guess you have a big time program because you won against the likes of Marshall, Eastern Washington, Maryland, East Carolina, Miss St., Syracuse, UConn, Cincinnati, and Pitt. Let's count how many teams are ranked.... that was quick ZERO !

That would've been pretty stupid of you to start such a thread in early October. I bit my tongue when you lost to Louisville simply because they were a good team and you still had an at-large shot. I waited and USF was the straw that broke the camel's back. WVU has not beaten ONE top 25 team. Your November record is pathetic. Remember all those times you blasted VT for their late-season collapses? Like I said, karma's a *****.

And what forum have you been visiting the last two years? You KNEW this was coming and you (the general "you") completely deserve it. Your team is a joke and you got what was coming to you.

As the worm turns...

The real problem around here is that NONE of our teams are worldbeaters. Maryland, WVU, VT, University of Southern North Dakota at Hoople or whoever ese is around here... none are real top-flight football programs, despite what we all think after we put together two or three successful seasons in a row.

So you guys can just continue to duke it out forever. We're all stuck in that very wide gulf between Army and OSU. Perpetually, there's always next season.

Although, I would love to see VT vs. WVU in the Gator. The massive inferno in this forum would be visible from space.

I DON'T want a team with hype. WVU plays better when they are disrespected (just like VT). If we are written off next year--maybe start out the season ranked #8-12 depending on the bowl game--I'll be happy.

Like I said the ebb and flow of college football. Funny finishing 11-2 last year was an absolute disaster as far as I was concerned, having a chance this year to finish 11-2 is amazing

Likewise for you all finishing with 2 conference losses this year is a failure where as last year with such a young team that you had it would have been a fine season

Expectations, they are a *****. And both our teams will have sky high ones next year. Maybe this will end the battle of the NCAA forum, since we all know our teams won't meet on the field for a long time, and if we do hopefully it'll be for the chance to win the national title

I don't think any of us question each other's passion at all, and its probably gone overboard a bit. But you know what, its college football, and I would not have it any other way

We do play Auburn, FSU and some other good OOC teams in the future, but not next year. We are still in the "scrambling" phase of our scheduling after the ACC did their thing.

IMO at this point, you'd have to throw RU/GT/USF/BC in the same mix. They are all solid programs now (USF on the biggest rise). Who knows what Miami will be in the next few years, but I imagine they'll have to get back to where they were within a few years just based on talent level.

Not giving us all sports membeship until 2000, not giving full revenue sharing until 2000, and not even accepting us at first into the conference

Up until 2000 VT was competeing in the Atlantic 10 in all sports except football

Hey, I wonder who it was that kept bashing the BE over the head to include VPI...oh yeah...I remember now. :silly:

USF punked U Lou last year (when they had Brohm and Bush). You know, the same U Lou that was punking VPI last year (admittedly for a half), with a walkon freshman QB who was making his 2nd start.

I wouldn't sleep on USF...

Conference Of The Year

Big East (29). Dead? Ha. Not worthy of the BCS? Please. The league outperformed expectations and has proven to be a very tough place to win on the road.

BIG EAST is DOOOOOOMED! (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=2678412)

Underachieving Conference Of The Year

ACC (30), in a tight battle with the Big 12. Three head coaches and one high-profile offensive coordinator fired or forced out so far. That should tell you what kind of year it was in the ACC.

By Conference, teams in the top 25.

ACC: 4
BE: 3
Big 10: 3
Big 12: 4
PAC: 2
SEC: 5

Now, if they want to say Miami and FSU underachieved, fine. But to lay blame on the entire conference because two perennial powers had an off-year is ridiculous.

I think the fact the ACC has four teams ranked NOT named UM and FSU speaks volumes.

Based on rankings, I'd think the PAC 10 would be the underachieving conference this year. No wonder USC has been an MNC contender every year for 4 years.

wow, that's the longest post you've ever made that managed to not bash the big east and/or wvu.

btw, i agree that there is a strong case for the pac 10 to be considered the worst/ most underacheiving conference.

Why not as a percentage of teams in the conference?

ACC: 4 (33.3%)
BE: 3 (37.5%)
Big 10: 3 (27.3%)
Big 12: 4 (33.3%)
PAC: 2 (20%)
SEC: 5 (41.7%)

Um, ok, we could do percentages. Or are you just doing that to show BE's 4 percentage point advantage over the ACC?

I'm doing it because is shows that numbers can be deceiving. 4 top 25 teams (versus 3) doesn't mean as much when you have 4 additional teams in your conference.

Either way though, it shows the strength of the SEC.

Crossing my fingers doesn't help prove predictions. WVU losing at home to SFU did that after losing to Louisville. I really think all you WVU fans predictions are the ones that have blown up in your faces. It's not like I expected a lot of losses considering the weak ass schedule.

45? What are you looking at? According to latest AP Top 25 voting, USF is receiving votes at #30. If they win their bowl game, they'd be 9-4 and would be ranked. Win or lose their bowl games, and WVU/UL/RU would most likely stay ranked.
