View Full Version : Redskins to dominate Falcons

The Redskins are due for a complete domination this season. Virtually every season Joe Gibbs as been a head coach for this team, he has had at least one game where the Redskins dominate on both sides of the ball. Last year it was Dallas at home, the year before it was the Giants at home, years and years before that it was the Lions and Cardinals at home. I believe this is the game where that will happen. Now I may be wrong, but there is also a big chance I'm right.
Atlanta's pass D has been terrible as of late, even though their rush D is 9th in the league. They have a big 345 pound DT in Grady Jackson which allows them to clog the lanes up the middle, so maybe some runs off tackle will work better because their defensive ends are much lighter than our tackles. Duckett will have a great YPC average against his former team, as will Betts, as the running game compiles over 150 yards. Duckett will rush for 1 TD as will Betts. This will allow the passing game to unleash on their 30th ranked pass defense. Thats where Santana Moss comes in.
Over the past 5 games, Moss has had 9 catches for 45 yards. Sunday will be his big day, as he redeems himself by going over the century mark and catching at least 1 TD. Jason Campbell throws for 3. Cooley keeps his streak of TD catches alive with another one against the Falcons.
As for the Defense, this game is all about stopping the run. The Falcons are 1st in the NFL in rushing YPG with nearly 200 YPG. Much of that thanks to Vick, so if the Skins have spies assigned to Vick like they said they would, that should help minimize their running total. However, like many said, you CANNOT forget about Dunn. DT's Cornelius Griffin and Kedric Golston will anchor the D-line and hold Dunn to under 60 yards rushing, forcing Vick to make plays with his arm because running will not be an option. That's when the Falcons have a problem, their pass offense is 31st in the league. Much of that is contributed to by dropped passes by Atlanta recievers. I don't expect them to drop passes this week because I'm sure they focused on recieving technique in practice this week (some of the dropped passes against New Orleans were absolutely terrible) but the secondary will come together again for the second week in a row and smack their recievers in the mouth. Under 200 yards passing for the Falcons. I expect the Skins to force at least 3 turnovers, 2 INTs and a fumble recovery, shortening the field for the offense.
Skins win 37-6
Campbell goes 16/28, 213 yards and 3 TDs/1 int
Moss: 5 catches for 114 yards, 1 TD
Betts Duckett combine for 130 yards, plus some key scrambles by Campbell
5 sacks for the Defense
Hopefully I'm somewhat right, or I'll look like a real fool. But it's fun to think about this coming into play, its very possible. Gibbs has stressed consistency all week, they've had a good week of practice, and FedEx field will be rumbling. Good record in December for Gibbs too. Hope everyone enjoys the breakdown/prediction. Feel free to comment and assert your opinions.

Now I do think the Skins will win. But I doubt they win 37-6. Holding Vick and co. to 6 is tough. Let alone scoring 37 on anybody. Considering you haven't scored 37 all year.
We are the 2nd highest scoring offense in the NFL. We amassed 37 twice. Those teams Tennessee and Houston. Nothing to write home about either.

you have a point, but the panthers and saints held them to 6 or less and i feel that at home the Redskins can too. As for scoring 37, we haven't scored 37 all year, but we did score 36 on a Jags D that had been dominating the teams before them. Their rush D was crazy but Portis was able to gash them for over 100 yds, it is very likely that the Skins could gash a struggling Falcons D. Yes, the Skins O has struggled somewhat as well, but this game will shock some people. Not trying to be a homer or anything, just a gut feeling. Try not to rub it in if i turn out wrong :D

Anything is possible, thats the good thing. So 37 Is a possibility.
Don't worry man, Not hear to bash or say anything bad. Thats why I gave my opinion back :)

I don't see it happening.
I could see our defense getting some turnovers from Vick but our offense isn't likely to light anybody up right now. I predict that we can't run the ball effectively again and have to beat them by throwing the ball. The problem is that they still don't have faith in Campbell, Lloyd has been garbage, and Moss probably isn't 100% yet. Cooley will have to continue what he has been doing lately.

Wrong. We amassed 36 ONCE against JACKSONVILLE. 31 against Houston.
...And if you're talking about you cowboys then youve done it 3 times...against Tampa too

I dont know man, I have a feeling either we will play very well like you said or we could slam back to earth again and have another huge let down. The reason I feel we could have a huge let down is because thats just how our season has been going. I really hope that you are right and Campbell comes out and throws the ball well. I just feel atlanta is reeling and might come out firing.

What are you talking about? Betts is a second string RB and he ran for 104 yards alone last week. Not to mention against a very stingy defense. Atlanta is freaking out right now because they don't know what exactly to expect from our young but explosive QB. JC can run and he can throw the ball deep. They're not going to be able to blitz because they'll feel the need for help in the secondary. That will lead to maybe a four man rush which should give JC all day to throw and Betts all kinds of running room. Defenses now have to respect the downfield threat that Washington poses. And it's about @#%&*$@ time:cheers:

We can put up 30 on the falcons easily....Their corners have talent but they are very very young.....with D.Hall and Jimmy Williams
We will see alot of wide open recievers and if the line gives Campbell time its curtains..
Im praying we can get a lead in the second half and lett TJ and Betts kill the clock...

You beat me to it.
I was just reading about Moss not being 100% healthy, and was coming to say Lloyd could have a great game.
Their Safeties are pretty much Crap back their also. Lawyer Milloy downside of his career, and Im glad Dallas didn't trade for Cris Crocker when we had a chance to.
Excited to see this game, and pretty much pulling for the Skins the rest of the year.

 I would love to see us score 30 on anyone. But to say that D. Hall and Jimmy Williams are too young for a...ah...rookie QB that's making his 3 start to expose is a little over the top, don't you think?

I just figured that because he was taken off the injury list that he's healthy enough to have a big impact.

I hope so, but Im not going to agree with you only because when I say stuff like that, its haunts me in a very bad way for example the Minnesota. I said we would score 45+ pts because I was so excited about Saunders in charge of the offense, and the success he had in KC.
I dont have big expectation for tomorrow game or the rest of the season, and in the future except that we win. I still make predictations but dont think about blowing teams out or beating them badly, but I hope they will seeing I have a lot of Fal..err Michael Vick fans around me.

Actually, the Falcon fans are thinking this game could be a potentially devestating game for their entire organization, like heads are gonna roll after this one...
Here's hoping for a return of the glory days! Atleast for a day!

Yeah, their team is self destructing, lots of rumors of Vick going bye-bye, Mora going Bye-Bye, and the Redskins game being the "perfect storm"...

One thing is for certain..you never know what the Skins will do. We could dominate, or we could capitulate..all depends upon what team shows up. But Vick will rack up the running yards. Strange part is that I never see Vick as a QB. I always picture him as a RB.

It is fun to speculate and the way you did it leaves no doubt, you won't be viewed as a fool. You did not talk smack or brag, just posted a hunch and put some reasoning to it. Good, fun post, and TNewman, way to respond as a Cowboy fan you are one of the better ones here.
My gut feeling is a good strong win, but not by the margain you are suggesting. Of course the big factor is going to be the Defense. If the effort is there, then the Skins win by two scores, 24-14.

Your team just won and kept their dwindling playoff hopes alive and the best thing you can think to do is come onto the opposition's board and troll...
"YA'LL" need to get a life...rubbing it in is very unbecomming, even for a Ron Mexico fan.
