As cornerbackers get older in the NFL, teams usually change them to safeties.
Do you think that this will be an option that we take next season for Springs? We can then go after another cornerback to start for us.

could be...but i just don't see it happening...we should try out the rook (doughty) there for the rest of the season...springs still has a couple years left in him at cb...as long as he can keep that hammy fine

He's still our best CB...no way that happens...why move your best and most reliable CB to Safety?

I think so too. His being out so long has cost us BIG TIME this year. I don't think they want to take a chance of this happening again next year. Better to get someone (FA probably) who is at least close to his talent, than have no one at all.

yeah, i also think that this whole "tom friend" ordeal will have something to do with it. Supposedly Sean is the leak, and if this is true, I cant see GW keeping him awound next year after saying stuff like that

Springs is good when he is on the field, but he is injury prone. How many games has he started in this year? 4 or 5? I wouldn't be surprised if he is gone next year.

I'd like to see him be blended into being a nickel CB. - I heard him say on that Monday night Live show last year that he wouldn't mind moving to saftey if could lengthen his career.
I believe he wants to get into broadcasting after he's done playing, and he certainly seems to have a future in it. - I would think it'd be ideal for him to do it in this area since this is where he grew up, so it would probably be in his best interest to stay here a few years.

If we get Nate Clements next yr...I would move Shawn Springs to FS...He's definately smart enough, big enough(205lbs), and tackles well enough to be a FS...

SS has spent his entire career in the training room. He still has the ability, so the only reason to switch to safety would be to reduce injuries. Maybe it would work, but I doubt it. I don't see him being anything but a starter at his salary.

NO no no no no
Either he finds a way to stay healthy all year or trade him.
Even the best shutdown corner is pretty useless when he can only play 5 or so games a year.

Rumph and Wright absolutely need to go.
If we sign a high priced guy then Springs might have to move positions, otherwise we could again sign Smoot and then have Springs, Smoot, and Rogers fight it out for pt...If Springs loses out then he can play begin the transiton to safety. A rotation of him and Fox wouldn't be bad at all.

And what about Taylor?
He would be an awesome SS, heck he hovers close to the line of scrimmage anyways might as well make it official....imho.

Move Shawn Springs to the nearest retirement home, this guy is always injured. Our record has a lot to do with him. We lost a lot of winnable games relying on the play of subpar corners like Kenny Wright, Mike Rumph, and Ade Jimoh

He is a soft bum. We need to move him to another team or on the street. He don't play when we need him.
