Everyone on the board was in love with Fox for his one good game. Yesterday shows why no one heard of him before. We paid all this money to AA we might as well play him now because the season is over.

He has played pretty solidly and made the most of the opportunities he's been given. For once, the front office finds a diamond in the rough.

its cause no springs. When we were healthy Fox was a huge upgrade at safety than what we had. He still played good. He had that punch out at the goal line to force a field goal.
Don't blame just one person. If your going to step up and blame someone blame Gibbs, the playcalling has been terrible and just disgusting.

cause Archuleta has played soo much better??? Where does one even conceive of something like that. Fox got beat yes, but Archuleta got beat in numerous games before. Archuleta also screwed up by falling on that Jerious Norwood run. I question Archuleta's desire to stay with the team at this point. I would rather play Reed Doughty if you want to replace Fox, or re-sign Curry Burns, at least it'd be a funny name.

Not blaming Fox for the lost, but I would like to see Double A play. We paid him the money the season is over, lets see if he learned anything these past couple of weeks on the bench. I would like to see Rocky get in the game also. It also would be nice if we open the offense up to see what Campbell can do, **** were not making the playoffs. Damn what a waste of a season. You get your hopes up and the Redskins just crush it.

Yeah he was out of position on the Crumpler TD but Washington didn't even attempt to bump Crumpler off the line to give Fox a chance to get over there.

He is a 3rd string player and that is what you get from a third stringer. Shawn Springs is so soft it isn't funny. He is the one to blame. We definately need to cut his stinkin butt.

Yeah he was out of position on the Crumpler TD but Washington didn't even attempt to bump Crumpler off the line to give Fox a chance to get over there.I agree that was a great play in the endzone. Then on the Crumpler TD it looked like a mix up in coverage and fox got hung out to dry. Fox wasnt the only one of defense that broke his ankles on the Norwood run. I still think he played a solid game. Our whole defense ****ing sucks.

Don't even get me started on Carlos Roger's Pirouette near the end zone on that Norwood run

Some of you have to be kidding me? You want to play AA just because we are paying him more. So Fox had a bad game, so did a lot of players. Holdman didn't look to great. Jansen and Thomas weren't playing that well.
How about talking about what did look right?
- Golston is playing some great ball right now.
- Dockery is playing better.
- Andre Carter is playing better. He had a great game against Atlanta.
- Betts seems to be getting better every game.
- Rock is playing awesome on special teams.
Yeah it stinks we lost and mathematically out of the playoff now, but the best thing we can do now is find out what are guys are really made of. Find out who the ball players are and keep if they make the team better and get rid of the athletes just acquiring a pay check. :2cents:

The main problem is not just one player on defense. It's the defense as a whole. Our defense is not playing bad all game, but the problem is, we seem to give up the big play at the wrong time. We've just given up too many big plays this year.
SKINZ33
December-4th-2006, 09:20 AM
Look, we can all blame fox, AA, Springs being injured, whatever for our weak secondary but the fact of the matter is that we have created such a turnstyle on the defensive side of the ball that we should have seen this coming at some point.
You can't just go scraping guys off of the street and expect them to be difference makers. Yeah, every now and then Fox migh produce a good game or whoever, but until this organization realizes that stability and smart personnel moves are the way to go, we could be witnessing poor play for some time.
C'mon FO, get things straight.

golston looked great, much better than salavea does. he was getting great penetration, and its not DT jobs to make tackles. he plugs up the hole and gets enough penetration for a LB or sean taylor to come up and make the tackle at the line. golston should start, end of story.

Fox had great safety play when he ran over and knocked away that pass in the end zone to force FG. Blaming him for the long run is the same type of dumb thinking that caused us to get rid of solid Ryan Clark when LT torched him last year.
I'm not saying he's amazing or anything, but he's doing fine right now. Our defense played the best game of the season (by far) with him in the game. I say let's continue to see what he can do.

we must not have watched the same guy yesterday, because imo his performance was pretty bad like some other players. I deff dont think hes doing fine, and he forced them to make a fg the second time around, after he cost us the first td. The run wasnt his fault but he could have stopped it right there if he hadnt tripped. Him and many other players looked bad out there yesterday. I dont see how anyone could say vernon fox played a fine solid game yesterday.

20 mill cap hit? some are speculating that it will only cost us 3 1/2 mill because 5 mill of it was to be a next year bonus or something. Not sure of the details but they were talkng about it on espn radio, about how the arch deal may only cost the skins 3.5 mill. unless i misunderstood kevin..

what else did he do? the bad outweighs the good man, no one expects him to be amazing he played like expected, but it wasnt good. Shawn Springs is so soft it isn't funny. He is the one to blame.
With all the coaches this team has, you would think we would have one in charge of stretching. Injured hamstrings are caused by one thing - poor flexibility. The way to prevent these injuries is simple. Stretch regularly and properly. The number of hammy injuries this team has had speaks volumes for its mentality.

Sorry that youre in love with AA, but Fox has proven he is worthy to play at SS and AA (whom I was excited about acquiring) has proven he is great at warming the bench up. Playing him wouldn't be that bad of a thing, but I still think Fox deserves this opportunity. And, he wasn't at all entirely at fault for our loss... our team played strong 1st quarter then sucked for the rest of the game.

I know Fox fell down against Norwood, but earlier someone else had fallen too who I thought was Archuleta. If it wasn't him, then my mistake. At least Fox tried to crawl back, whoever fell first just laid there.
The thing is, we've had great chances at other safeties. Im glad for Troy Vincent, but Artrell Hawkins last season? How about keeping Antuan Edwards, though Im not sure what he's doing now. Fox did not get burned on the Crumpler TD, he has to cover 1 man through his zone then make it over to cover Crumpler. Washington had the zone under Fox's and did nothing, no bump, no cover. He let Crumpler run unabated to the endzone and Fox had to recover from midway across the field AND he almost made the play.
Bottom line Washington engages Crumpler or at least attempts to redirect the route and Fox makes a deflection if not a pick.

Better look up some stats because Gates is the best TE in Football right now. Gonzalez can turn it on when he wants to and the kid Watson in NE is starting to make a name for himself. I'd put Crumpler in the top 10, maybe top 5, but not the best. You have no case counselor. I move to dismiss.

It was embarrassing, but no where near as embarrassing as paying a guy to be the highest paid safety in the league to miss blocking assignments on punts and warm the bench up for all the other players and lose his job to two players that came into the system and team later than him. And, repeatedly get absolutely burnt to a crisp every play. He didn't even hit hard like we all had hoped when he was playing. It is not all his fault, but he surely didn't contribute.
I think we should resign Fox... what do you all think?
