View Full Version : Message to Daniel Snyder (merge if necessary with "I HATE FedEx...")

For someone who was raised a Redskins fan, and has supposedly loved them his entire life, he has lost touch with the fans. You would think that he would make FedEx field more accessible to the fans . . . but rather, he has made it more accessible to money. I have been fortunate enough to go to almost every home game for the last 4-5 years, and each one (regardless of the outcome of the game) gets harder and harder. The amount of opposing team fans is laughable . . . Does Snyder care? Absolutely not, because he is still getting money.
The cost of food is ridiculous. The parking costs are ridiculous. The fact that we have to pay 5 dollars a person just to ride a damn bus to the stadium is a joke.
Snyder, you have bred corporate fans for "your" team. A large number of the people who show up at the game are not even fans . . . they just go there to act like them. How can you complain about people standing up? How can you not cheer your ass off for a team you supposedly love? You sold out bad . . . and somewhere, JKC must be pissed.
The feel of this message board is that there a lot of people who have contemplated selling their tickets (if they haven't already). Well, it doesn't matter to Snyder . . . because again, he is getting his money.
Snyder is testing the loyalty of Redskins fans . . . He is in a bet that he knows he can win, because people (regardless of what uniform they wear) will still show up to games.
But sooner or later, this will catch up to him . . . And I would not be surprised to see many of our "fans" turn to Baltimore in a few years. The stadium is accessible . . . EVERYONE wears purple . . . and more importantly, the team is a contender virtually every year (except last).
I for one will NEVER do such a thing . . . I bleed burgundy and gold, and will do so till the day I die . . . But I have realized that people like me and the loyal fans on this message board are of a dying breed . . . and watch out, because we will soon see Maryland, D.C., and Virginia turn to the Ravens. . . That is the nature of what Snyder has created - a joke of an organization, and the people are just fed up.

I've been a season-ticket holder since the new stadium open. But, right now, given the mediocrity on the field, the below-average, game-day experience, the dysfunction of the organization and the ever-escalating ticket prices, I'm seriously considering not renewing my seats. I can't justify the cost any more.

Opposing fans come in large numbers whenever the home team is crap, that's just the way it is. People get angry that they paid so much money to watch the team lose all the time so they sell their tickets. Other times people simply can't make it and give the tickets away to friends and family who happen to like the wrong team, for example my traitor Cowboy fan sister who went to that game this year. We ballanced it out this year by getting my other sister and her fiance to at least pretend to be good Redskins fans. (she reportedly sang Hail to the Redskins every time, more than I can say for a lot of real fans)

If you would like to respond to the contents of a particular post, simply quote the sentence or idea that you're commenting upon, not necessarily the entire post. It wastes space on the database and unnecessarily extends and clutters threads.
Can someone seriously let me know if Synder is aware of any of this? Or if he ever hears how bad the fans think he is? Or if he ever comes around this board?
Can any tell me something?

I'm sure he does care, but I am not sure what can be done about this. What I DO know is there is a **** load of opposing fans. And I also DO know that the percentage of opposing fans is ridiculously high at FedEx compared to other stadiums. I'm not really sure why. I'm not sure if we can blame Snyder for this or not. People already have gone to purple. I know people who have done it, and they are asking me to join them. I won't, I can't, I just can't. Redskins is in my blood. But abandoning my season ticket contract in favor or cheaper and better seats on eBay is a very real possibility.

Come on you think fed ex field is bad. I am a huge redskins fan and go to fed ex field whenever I am able to. I am from Michigan, detroit area...
Coming from Ford field and going to Fed Ex Field is like going from Gary Indiana to Maui.
I have lions season tickets and we pay 300.00 for each ticket in the club section. And all we get is a room with a $10.00 hot dog station. Thats for one hot dog. I can go on and on about Ford Field, the customer service sucks. We wont talk about how bad the team is. At least the redskins have a nice tailgate party, and cheerleaders..
We have a stupid lion and high school bands...
And we have matt millen I mean come on,

Fedex holds about 30,000 more seats than the average NFL stadium. That's alot of seats to be filled and more and more will be filled by opposing teams fans as we lose more and more. With a 90k capacity there will ALWAYS be seats available. Plus this is D.C where people come from around the country to work who still support the team they grew up with. But I agree, the majority of Snyders years here have been losing ones and the LEAST he could do is give the fans a good experience. I got a 70" HDTV and havent gone back to fedex since.

Wait till Sunday, when 20,000 Beagle fans show up for the slaughter. I stopped going after the Titans debacle, I let my sister buy the rest of my tics. I will root like hell for the B&G, but Dick Snyder gets no more of my money. I also will not buy anymore more memorobilia. I can't believe some of you are talking about buying $300.00 authentic jerseys. Crazy

opposing fans show up at Fedex field b/c they know their team is going to kick the crap out of us. They have no fear. It's an easy win for their team.
It's a joke. Snyder needs to build a winning team and he will never do this. He wants your money. So be a fool and give it to him.

My only complaint about my dad's club level seats is the loud, drunk opposing fans who always appear one row down to our right and the occasional group of Redskins fans who appear to be completely silent and motionless all game. We seriously thought this one person in front of us was dead at the Panthers game. Ive never experienced those horror stories of being surrounded by opposing fans nor am I ever the only one who is into the game. Maybe 336 is the exception, I dont know.
Anyway, I may be easy to please but I love the stadium. Tailgating is great, food is good and at the average NFL price, seats are nice, love our announcer, and the afterparty for the Panthers game was awesome.

I'm a displaced skins fan in Iggles country (which sucks bad enough), but damn, I miss the days at RFK when we were the majority and the whole stadium was rocking, and ushers weren't telling you to shut up and sit down.
I miss my season tickets which my husband insisted we sell before we moved, since he didn't think we'd get back enough to make them worth it, and after reading so much about the new stadium and everything...yanno, I'm pretty much agreeing with him that it wasn't that bad of an idea.
But at the same time, I wish I could come home and watch a game once in a while. :(

If you have the time or inclination I suggest reading parts of a recent book (came out in 2005 actually) which sheds some light upon our owner, Daniel Snyder and more broadly, life in and around the NFL. It's titled Next Man Up: A Year Behind the Lines in Today's NFL (Hardcover)
by John Feinstein (http://www.amazon.com/s/104-7256843-7131153?ie=UTF8&index=books&rank=-relevance%2C%2Bavailability%2C-daterank&field-author-exact=Feinstein%2C%20John) "FROM A DISTANCEIt was written with the Baltimore Ravens centrally but shows life behind the scenes in the NFL. I had some conceptions about what Snyder was like in business and these "suspicions" were (sadly) confirmed. The guy is one class "A" jerk. It is no surprise that he has turned the proud Redskins franchise into a complete JOKE within a matter of only a few years (OK, it only feels like a lifetime). I've included a link below and I'm not trying to plug the book but I'd recommend just reading some of it to get an impression of what others in the NFL (players/coaches/broadcasters) think of Snyder and, by extension, the organization. Whew! It AIN'T easy being a Skins fan these days!

Last year I went with some buddies to the Linc in Philly for the reg season finale (the win that got us into the paloffs). Even with a sorry season, the Philly fans represented and the stadium, compared to FedEx, was a day at the spa. Acoustically loud crowd noise (real- not the kind that we pump through the audio system), digital video jumbotrons, digital audio, constantly scrolling scores from around the league, fireworks on top of the stadium, excellent food, lots of restrooms and plenty of parking. Most of the fans sang the Philly fight song (which is pretty gay, but I digress), while many of our own will not sing HTTR at FedEx. Oh yeah and the fans were not bad at all, we were decked out in burgundy & gold jerseys, hats, jackets etc and no one tried to start anything with us.

You left out the fans which I respect the most. The Cleveland Browns fans. Their fans have been put through hell with the whole Baltimore thing. They waited for their team to come back and even though they havent been good since their return, that place is always going crazy everytime I see them on TV.
I wish that the Redskins could develop something like that.

Are you seriously saying that you would rather our house be like Seattle and Denvers house? Apparently you have never been to a game at either stadium. Just recently it has started to get a more of an intimidating atmosphere. I grew up in Seattle. I could go to any game that I wanted because they sucked. It was never a reall loud place to play. The reason that Quest field is so loud is because it is below sea level and the way that the standium is designed, it amplifies the noise. In Denver I used to be able to get a ticket anytime that I wanted, and it really wasn't that much of an intimidating place, UNTIL they started winning. The bottom line is when you field a team that can play with the best, and when you field a team that cares whether they win or lose, you will have an intimidating atmosphere.

It's true, they got quiet last Sunday because we dominated for ten minutes, then did absolutely nothing. I overslept and got to my parent's house (big screen and the ticket) just in time to miss the 2nd TD. I sat there for three hours screaming at the TV and all I got was a missed field goal.
I was at the Panthers game and that crowd seemed pretty good considering that we were minus 15,000 fans in addition to a lot of people whose teams were not playing but decided to crash our stadium anyway. It was a nice day, a holiday weekend, and we were 3-7. My point is, we had a crowd that was good enough under the circumstances because we were actually in contention the whole way and somehow pulled off the win.

Face it. The Washington Redskins are a lower echelon team. Amongst the Lions, Browns, Saints and Bengals of old. 15 years of this is horrible. The game experience sucks. The fans suck. The team sucks. Daniel Snyder sucks. I'll always be a Redskins fan. But I'm actually JEALOUS of Ravens fans. Better stadium, better franchise, better fans, easier access to games, cheaper parking. I'm getting sick now.

The term "lower echelon" got to me.
I just did some quick research. I didn't bother with the AFC, but I counted all the teams in the NFC who went to the playoffs between 2000 and 2005, which is the period Mr. Snyder has had ownership of the team for complete years.
Two teams had zero post seasons in those six years: Lions and Cardinals.
Three teams had one post season: Redskins, Saints, Cowboys.
The OTHER eleven NFC teams have all made the playoffs multiple times during that period, and many of them are going to make it again this year.
And I think it's a pretty safe bet that the Saints and the Cowboys are going to have a post season this year -- which leaves the Lions, Cardinals, and Redskins as the perenial losers of the NFC while under Mr. Snyder's watch.

Excellent point ... quality on the field will result to quality in the stands. As long as the Redskins put a dismal product on the field. How can any rational intelligent person expect the fans to be loud and really into the games?
Every team has rough patches and the fan base follows the trends. One of the primary reasons that RFK was awesome was because the team was awesome (or at least not an embarrassment like we have become).

To those of you are saying... the team sucks, the stadium sucks, there are too many opposing fans in attendance and therefore, I'm not going to go to the game, I'm going to put my tickets for sale on Stubhub, EBay and get some of my money back. You are the reason why opposing fans are getting tickets. Your luke warm enthusiasm and decision to give up on your team is the reason that the stadium is so quiet.
I've attended only four Redskins games live, three at RFK and the Carolina game this year at Fed Ex. I will agree that the food is overpriced. Guess what? The Redskins aren't a not for profit charity. Hot dogs cost too much at Disneyland and Kings Dominion too. I remember standing almost the whole game at RFK, but everyone else was standing too. In all four games, I left with a hoarse voice. If you don't, you are part of the problem. What you decide to do is 75% of your experiece at Fed-Ex.
If you don't enjoy the game, don't go. If you go to the game enjoy it. You're lucky that you are able too. You could be living in Iraq or Sudan and have some real problems.

You are totally wrong. I was at the Redskins vs Eagles game last year at the Linc, and the amount of Redskins fans was unbelieveable. It all boils down to how the team is doing on the field. The Eagles were doing terrible so the home fans sold their tickets. Thats what our fans are doing now.

Dan Snyder doesn't care about the fans. He only cares about his pockets, that short bastard. He's got that Napolean complex, a quintessential geek/dork in highschool. Now that he has money, he thinks he has power. No no my friend, the only thing people give power to is RESPECT. And that is something that Snyder's money can never buy.
Maybe he should invest some of thay money and get a pair of medicated shoes with 2 inch heels. Then maybe he'll be able to watch the game and see what the heck is going.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Denver has been a contending team pretty much every year since, like, 1977.
Also, I just checked. They sold out every single game at Mile High from 1970 to 2004.

Dan snyder knows about the problems about the stadium and he also does not like it. It has been mentioned on local radio stations and on this message board as well that Danny boy is in the beginning stages of moving the team back to DC. Rumor is they are going to demolish RFK and build a new stadium in the same area. Danny boy wants a stadium built to his specifications and also the rumor is that since fedex was built too quickly the work is shoddy and wouldn't last the amount of time a stadium should last.

I made the decision during the TB game to sell my tickets for the last two games of the season.....No way am I putting more money into Danny's pocket......I had my fun at FEDEX this season but no way do i want to be around when the stadium is overrun by ugly eagle and giant fans.....As usual the skin fans keep quite while the opposing teams run their mouths and treat it like their home field. I tried to stand up to them but when no other skins fans are willing to do the same its a lost cause........It bothers me like hell to see that but Im not goin to deal with it this year........I will still tailgate and watch the game but instead of driving to Fedex i will do it at my house........hey atleast I made a good profit from sellin my tickets for the last two games..........

Danny boy wants a stadium built to his specifications and also the rumor is that since fedex was built too quickly the work is shoddy and wouldn't last the amount of time a stadium should last.
Some council members are grandstanding on this a bit and have created an issue out of thin air. I think we are at a minimum of ten years away from a stadium in the district.
But I do know this: Snyder is very young and is going to get to build his own sandbox at some point.
And God help us all when that happens.
It's going to seat 120,00 people and have the Mall of America attached to it.

man, is anyone even going to the game sunday? this is really gonna suck, I wish I didn't buy tickets for this game. Who would have thought back in April we would be 4-8? Ill still be there, loud and proud. However, I will think twice before buying tickets for next season, unless the Dallas game is for sale.

The team sucks so bad each year I contemplate not renewing my "NFL Sunday Ticket" package. That's only 240$. You guys spending more on season tickets are insane. Let it go. Save your money, buy a nice TV, and reclaim 8 hours of you life each week.
If the team sucks, I just go do housework and leave it on in the background. I'm not wasting my precious time watching junk football.

At least the quite Skins fans will show up.
I'll take comfort that you've got our backs from home.

Oh one more thing in your letter to Dan tell him ENOUGH OF THE FUNKY 4!
Yes please. They do the same dance every week and that same stupid ad for them every week. They also always seem to be brought out after the opposing team scores a TD. Not their fault, but whoever is in charge of that should wait until we score.

Well, should Danny actually read this..
Recipe to make money:
WIN.
If you win, you'll make so much more money than you do by ripping people off for outrageous parking fees and unbelievable concession costs..
If you win, you could cut those prices, still make an absolute KILLING on those items, and make fans happy to boot.
You'd be able to PRINT your own money if the team would win.
You've got us. We're here anyway thru thick and thin. (mostly)
Win and we'll make you a king.

I don't see how it is possible to have this waiting list for season tickets. The Seahawks went to the superbowl last year and people are still getting season tickets. I know there is more tradition in Redskins football, but with 90,000 plus seats, something smell fishy Dan. If the stub hub thing is true and all I keep getting are invitations for Dream seat season tickets, I'm going to soon completely loose my patience with this franchise and Daniel Snyder.
I don't care WHO you want to blame for this teams poor performance, I still hate Dan Snyder, never have trusted the little piece of ****.

The waiting list numbers these days are mostly artificial. In the old days, they didn't advertise the waiting list. You had to call them, then they made you write a letter requesting to be added, and then you had to address an envelope and mail it via first class mail to get added to the list.
These days you just click the link.
My first time on the list was Jan 1988. I wrote the letter and mailed it in. I was number 16,536 or something like that. My name came up in 1999. I accepted.
My second time on the list was around the year 2000. I got a free liter of pepsi if I signed a form with tons of other names on it. I was like 100,000 something. My name came up last month. I declined.

328 is a little bit better, but not by much. Skinsfan44 and I are always cheering the team on (about 1/2 of the section cheers), but many just sit there silently like bumps on a log. There are usually quite a few opposing team fans in there, too. We also used to have a lot of corporate seat holders directly behind us who were always from the opposing teams -- some said they were given the seats as rewards for good work, so you never knew who would be there.
As to the stadium, tailgating is great (it's truly wonderful!!! ), seats are pretty good, but I sure do wish they weren't quite so expensive!! For the folks who get them as gifts from their company, it's fine, but for us working folks, they are not easy to afford by any means. We just love our Redskins so much that we just sacrifice and save to attend.

Synder,
You are a the typical sterotype of a money hungary, greedy, ***. I don't have a problem with the moves you made in the off season. I have a problem with how you handle FEDEX and how people will be tossed out for cheering on 3 and long and the ushers tell people to sit down. WTF man, you really are a greedy SOB. Losses for our beloved team continue to rise and so do the prices. You have left the real fans of this team (which you claim to be you lying greedy ****) behind and I hope you realize it before you get hurt by some angry fan when you're out on the public.
HTTR!!!

I'm sorry but I'm ready to rant. I know he loves this team and tries to build a winner but I strongly feel the bottom line $$$ is more important to him. Also his mancrush for Gibbs is hurting the team. It's about time for him to hire a freakin' GM. Between worrying about turning a profit and idolizing Gibbs the man just can't see the forest for the trees.

My whole section was full of Eagle fans. I know all the words to their "fight song."
Very good post runClintonRun26. Snyder has wrecked this team over and over with personel decions, now he is messing with the fanbase.
It sucks to be a skins fan, yet I keep comming back for more. I must be a diehard or a battered puppy dog.

This is for the guy who said that Seattle was not that great of a football base:
I'm surprised to hear that. Growing up in the 80's I always thought Seattle had a great bunch of fans. Very knowledgable fans. They kept quiet when the offense was on the field and cheered loudly when the D was on the field. They had some success with Dave Krieg and Steve Largent and company. In the 90's they hit some lean years but every team suffers that sometimes.
As far as the Redskins go, our lean years have been going on since '93, and this is the 14th season of this garbage. 1 division title in '99 (Snyders first year and hadn't had a chance to mess with the roster yet), a 6th seed last year (pretty much achieved by strong defense), and the rest of the years have been a joke. It's only been amplified by Snyder and his money grubbing nature and his micromanagment.
I had a chance to get season tickets in 2005 (after 5 years on the list) and I turned it down. I wish I hadn't, because I love the Redskins. I've put my name back on the list this year, so we'll see how long it takes me to get my name called. I'm still iffy on whether or not I want to take them when that happens.

YEAH!!! And paying 4 dollars for some hot water and chocolate syrup is horrible!!! I can't believe they even call that "Hot Chocolate". It had to be the worst tasting thing I've ever had.
The peanuts that come with the value meal (which does not include a drink) are the most heavily salted peanuts I have ever eaten...make that TRIED to eat.
Also, the stadium originally held about 78,000 and now it seats 91,000 - were ANY additional bathrooms added? The lines are insane, especially on the lower level behind the visiting bench. I guess adding 6,000 obstructed view seats didn't help matters.

I too was going to put some money down this season on NFL Sunday Ticket but I decided against it and now I'm glad I didn't sign up. Being in CA the games come on at 10am which conflicts with my church service. No doubt, in the future I'll probably sign up for the Ticket and use a DVR.
I CANNOT possibly imagine being in FedEx and cheering and having an usher tell me to sit down and be quiet. It sickens me to think of what Snyder has done to this franchise.
I don't mind and NFL owner being smart and shrewd when it comes to making money but he doesn't have to bastardize and disrespect the game by overcharging on consessions and blaring commercials during the game.
There's a saying I don't know the origin of that goes:
It'll get worse before it will get better.
