I saw Bunkley played a few downs - was curious if anyone had an opinion on how he did. One good play I saw he had was when Brown got his sack - he had a real good push up the middle. Should have TIVO'd it - but I forgot.

I think if you looked at the whole season the consensus would be he sucks.

I remember the play, I think. He got a good push, and was ridden to his left, out of the play, but he created enough movement. I thought it showed his strength. I can't say anything about his technique, because I didn't see him enough, but it was a Bunkley sighting.

Bunkley has been in the last two weeks in goaline and short yardage situations. We've been significantly better in both of those situations the last two weeks, but I'm certainly not trying to suggest that should be attributed to Bunkley. On one of the goaline plays in which Barber was stuffed at the line of scrimmage Bunkley was absolutely blown up by Rivera. Regardless, he seems to hold the point of attack pretty well most of the time that he's on the field.

Bunkley will be a beast next year, mark it down...
I watched him in college and he is the truth.

I watched Jermiah Trotter as a rookie and he barely touched the field.
I watched Lito Sheppard as a rookie and he barely touched the field.

Just because Westbrook36 likes to look at shirtless pics of him does NOT mean he is any good. So far, Kedric Golston, our 6th round pick, is looking better than him :)

I think a better parallel would be Simon. Simon was a malcontent; a holdout. But he still played his rookie year- all 16 games. I know Bunkley was a problem child to start, but there's no reason for him not to be playing. I said before it's too early to call on Bunkley, but there have been DTs that start their rookie year for Johnson. And we're talking about beating out Sam Rayburn here.
BTW, I watched Matt McCoy barely touch the field as a rookie, and everyone in Philly was moaning about him not getting a chance to prove himself in 2005. He began 2006 as a starter and he still blows. And I think they traded up for him. Now Gaither gets the nod over him. So it's not like this staff hits on every pick.

By no means do they hit on every pick. They miss probably at the same rate as most teams, but they do so with more picks and thus have a higher total number of hits. All I meant with Lito and Trotter was that plenty of high picks make little to no impact as rookies and go on to have good careers.
As for Simon, look how things turned out for him. He had his best season as a rookie and did nothing but regress for the rest of his career, culminating with this season when he was essentially put on IR because he was unable to get into shape.

So far, Omar Gaither, our 6th round pick, has been better than Rocky Macintosh.
I know Macintosh was a 2nd round pick and Bunkley was a first rounder. Based on the value of pick(s?) that the Skins gave up for Macintosh though essentially made him a mid-late first rounder.
That's just the nature of the draft, and somehow, come April, people on this and other boards around the net will assume that every high draft pick will be better than every player taken at his position in lower rounds. It's silly, but such is the reality with something that is dominated entirely by groupthink.
What would have happened if the Texans drafted Marcus McNeil? For all the complaints about Vince Young and Reggie Bush, McNeil actually would have been the best pick for that team.
We'll see where Bunkley is in three years. Until then, I'll remain dissapointed, but obviously I won't write him off.
