Two years ago, we traded our first pick outright for the rights to Jason Campbell who looks like he's progressing to be a fine prospect at qb. This year, we gave up pick # 26 to the Broncos. This year, we didn't give up our first. Could you imagine if we gave up this year's first for the Duckett and/or Campbell trades. At least our trading timing is okay.

I'm glad we kept our first round pick, but that trade is still going to cost us, and we might have to give it up. I get the impression, though, that Gibbs wants to keep Duckett around.
Some other things:
Everytime we have a bad season, and we have the oppourtunity to get a high draft pick, the NFL hits us with a label of having a tough schedule and our pick slides behind the other teams with the same record as us :)
Now that everyone but us in our division made the playoffs, we've played 3 playoff teams twice a year in our division alone, we have to have one of the toughest schedules in the league.
How far could our pick slide?

I think our first can be as high as no. 3 and as low as no. 8, but I'm really not sure. I will agree that the trade for Duckett, especially in hindsight was a waste. I think Nemo probably could have been used with equal effectiveness as a short yardage back, especially with how rarely he was utilized. On the other hand, I like the fact the fact that the no.1 we traded (which turned out to be a low no. 1) for Campbell seems like a good investment.

We still may yet depending on whether or not we go after any restricted free agents like Jared Allen...
I think so anyway...

There's ertainly no regrets here for trading anything to Denver for Campbell or Portis. The Duckett trade, on the other hand, will hinder our abilities to upgrade the defense in the offseason via first day draft picks. There's nothing that Duckett did this season that Rock couldn't have easily done for us as well. It was a wasted trade.
Lets see if Gibbs hires a GM. It's going to be interesting to watch.

I thought our pick was the #22 pick that the Broncos traded to the 9ers.
I hope we get the highest pick possible and trade down for more picks.

I'm glad we have a first rounder... but that trade and those lost picks are still going to smack us in the face.
