View Full Version : The "9 and 1 with Haywood starting" phenomenon

Please discuss. Does he just fit better with the offense as a starter? Is Eddie Jordan a genius for motivating him with the early bench? Would the wiz still be this hot with Etan, with Gil and Caron's emergence being the sole factor behind the hot streak?
I've notice Haywood hating diminishing...

haywood is playing well right now..if he keeps it up i say let him start unless Etan comes back on another level.

He's played with a chip on his shoulder and has had a sense of urgency about him. He is more forceful on offense and is benefiting from teams scrambling to stop 4 good shooters. I think he is more effective as the starter because he has a slightly better offensive game than Etan. I think Etan is the perfect energy guy off the bench.

I think teams are genuinely intimidated when Haywood throws down those two-handers. His steps in the lane are so ugly, but he gets to the hoop and throws it down.
Etan can dunk too, but I think his one-handed dredi-knight steez just isn't quite the same as Haywood's massive two-handers. Maybe they need to brawl again.

The 9 and 1 comes with Etan injured so it's not a good comparison. Still you can't teach height and he's got that advantage over Etan.

The team defense is 10x better with Haywood in. He challenges shots and does a lot of the dirty clean up. He just has to stop racking up stupid fouls.

Uhhhhh....Haywood did almost lose the game for us last night...If Andray wasn't so tired Jordan would have kept him in...Haywood came in missed an easy "and 1" and he missed both free throws...Etan is much more of a pressence than Haywood, which is just retarded since Haywood has the size...He did have his moments yesterday we he actually realized he's a 7-footer...He came in and had two monster dunks...soooo I don't know, we'll see...

He is beginning to realize he is a big man.
I thought this would happen last year but hey, better late than never. Lets hope this continues!!!!

The Woodman found a heart. He followed the yellowbrick road and paid attention to the wrinkly man behind the curtain, only to find he really had a heart all along!
I have been afraid to post nice things about brendan for fear I would jinx it.
He has endeared me finally, I'm a fan of the Woodman once again. I'm lost in Oz and I don't want to go home.
Oh he burned me last year... I along wit Eddie Jordan bought into the Brendan hype after 2004, but he bitched out. Bottom line, he's a different player and teammate it seems like.
Like the the foreman at a Cuban cigarillo factory, EJ - let it roll brutha, let it roll....

We'll have to see. I was at the game last night, and Gadzuric had a few throw downs that posterized most of our defense. And Haywood doesn't look very pretty in the lane. But he has been getting the job done as of late. It's early to say how much he has improved, but I like the thought of Thomas and Songalia coming off the bench to bring energy and a defensive presence.

Haywood was pretty hurt last night, otherwise EJ doesn't stick with Andray for the first 10 minutes, so that Dray could get beastin in the 2nd 10 minutes of the twenty he played.
Haywood will be okay, a twisted ankle for a big man is much, much worse than for a guard.

Plus it was the Blatche-Booth-Jamison triumverate that was the recipient of most of those dunks.
