Grunfeld's plan is starting to unfold right before our very eyes. Stockpile with young talent and get some good young european players rights so they can be a possible asset to our team or trade bait.
Next years starting 5 considering we give Deshawn a modest contract
Arenas
stevenson
butler
Jamison
Haywood
Now look at the bench we could have
Daniels
Juan Carlos Navarro
Andre Blatche (might even swap with Jamison in the starting 5)
Pecherov
Thomas
We can package Navarros rights and a draft pick for a defensive big man or we can keep him and have another scorer. Either way we have a ton of options. Two athletic 7 footers coming off the bench, a possible sharp shooter in Navarro and the usual veteren presence of AD. Just when you think were getting good, the future looks even brighter. I'm very exicted about our future prospects. Add in Vermeenko at some point in the future and you have a very deep roster top to bottom.

You might want to throw Songalia into the mix as well. We paid him good money, and we haven't seen any returns yet. I think he'll be a part of the rotation as well.

I think right now Navarro coming to D.C. is a pipe dream and I don't really want him. From the articles I've read he doesn't sound like he really wants to come to the NBA for anything more than a hefty paycheck. Not to mention he's just a scoring combo guard and we already have a couple of those. He'll cost our entire MLE to boot. No thanks.
Re. Pecherov he's just a question mark at this point. I'd put Songaila over him if healthy of course. I'm really high on Blatche though.

Trust me, once OP fills out he is going to be a freak. Great basketball IQ and is a tough, tough rebounder. As far as Navaro, someone in the NBA will want him. He can be a big peice to a trade package.

I'm pretty sure he signed a one year deal for not a lot.

Stevenson signed a 2 yr deal. But he has a player option on the 2nd yr. So i'm sure he'll want a little more $$$ cause we got him on the cheap (very cheap).

I'm looking forward to Jamison's contract expiring and the wiz singing him to a good deal....Like 8 or 9 mil a year. How much of a possibility is that?

Livestrongs initial post is a good one. We're in a good position for the next few years.
Shame that Navarro might not work out.

What does everone think about possibly trading Jamison for a legit POWER forward who can actually play defense?
