Turntablist here!! Although I have a 5 and 3 year old that put me into semi retirement so I haven't bought any records in about 3 years and having gone to a music store for the 1st time in years it looks like my 1200's and Vestax mixer are a little behind the times.
Good luck finding someone to throwdown with!

Heh...shoulda caught me 10 years ago. All my friends that spin or used to spin are elsewhere. I tried for awhile, but didn't have the money for my own set (or records, for that matter), or the time to get good at it.

I used to spin drum and bass. Some chick has all my records and the 1200s are long gone, though.

Most of my friends started on D&B beat matching, and that's where I tried to start. Just didn't have the patience/time to master it. Now all my friends that spin (except one who still spins/produces D&B) are onto hip hop.

Yeah, all my records were 99-01 era D&B, i did it for about 2-3 years when I was into that scene. I never really did hip hop because I never learned how to scratch much. I could beatmatch and carry it forever, though. I was pretty damn good with D&B, I just grew out of it, I guess. I prefer music with real instruments and/or lyrics these days :)

Yeah...I was into D&B for a couple years towards the end of high school...I grew out of it as well (pretty much). I still have friends who listen to it, but I don't.
