...thanks to the Hornets!!! They just took down the Magic!!! :applause:

Maybe beating us gave them the confidence they needed to beat Orlando. ;)

We have to face the Knicks tomorrow. The Magic's next game is on Friday against us in Orlando. It should be a good game much like the last time we played them.

Sweet, but doesn't mean anything until they've both played the same amount of games IMO.

No thanks... If we do win the division, we'd likely play either Indiana, Miami or Chicago. I think this team should position itself down the stretch to get the 5th seed and end up likely playing the leader of the Atlantic Division. That way, we'd be guaranteed to get past the first round.

Win as much as we can and let the chips fall where they may. Do teams intentionally lose to position themselves in the playoffs?

I mean I want to win as many games as possible and get the best seed possible, but I do like this idea. It would be much easier playing the Atlantic Divison winner in the 1st round, which will more than likely pave the way for the Wiz to at least make it to the 2nd round easier.

And yes, it will be a big game on Friday against the Magic, but let's not overlook the Knicks (Yes, I know the Knicks, I said it  ). One game at a time.

Strongly disagree. It is important for this team to validate its self by winning the division. Who cares who they play. We can beat anyone at Verizon Center.

definitely we do not play to ease our way through the playoffs.

Hey mad4comp... you don't ever "position yourself for the 5 seed." ARE YOU SERIOUS? That right there just tells me everything I need to know about your basketball knowledge.

Every team, ALWAYS tries to get the highest seed possible. The Wizards need at least one, preferably two home playoff series seeing as how they're 15-3 at home so far this season. I don't care what the matchup is the Wizards are extremely tough to beat at home.

"Position yourself for the 5 seed".... Where the hell do you get off?

division lead means absolutely nothing at this point in the season

So True.

There are so many teams within 2 games of us in the playoff standings.

If we can beat Orlando on Friday that would be huge because we''d be 6-1 in the division with 2 left vs them, 2 left vs. the Bobcats, 3 left vs. Miami & 2 left vs. Atlanta.

The division mark could be the tie-breaker if things stay tight between us and Orlando and especially when the Heat make their run...we all know they will at some point. Just not sure how good of a run they will make.

I'd like to play the pacers, Mad...who do you want to play in round one? and why dont you want us to haev home field advantage? We play much better at the phonebooth

Heres my opinion. The first Four seeds will goto 3 division winners and one non division winner with a good record. Now heres how I see it working out. (hypothetically)

1.) Pistons/Cavs*
2.) Cavs/Pistons*
3.) Bulls
4.) New Jersey/Toronto*
5.) Washington
6.) Miami
7.) Orlando
8.) Indiana

Now in that scenario, we get to play the winner of the putrid Atlantic division. And most probably we will end up with a better record than the winner of that division. So according to the new rules, Home court is based upon records and not seeding. So even though we would be 5th seed, we'd still have home court advantage if we had a better record than NJ/Tor, which I'm betting we will.

Question is, Would Washington rather do that, or end up with one of the higher seeds and play Miami, Orlando, or Indiana, all teams with good to very good defenses.

I'd think playing the winner of the Atlantic division will guarantee the Wiz a second round berth.

Just my opinion though. You make feel differently.

That is truly a ridiculous statement mad. You can't be serious.

Are you implying that we throw games?

damn, don't need to be an ***hole. And stop questioning my basketball knowledge, it's getting just as tiring as questioning my loyalty to the wiz.....

I'm always of the belief that you win as many games as you can and you play who you play. If we win the division we'd be in better shape to make a deep playoff run.

Either way right now it's still a moot point. Still a lot of games left to be played.

not throw games, but in the end when it comes down to the division or the 5th seed, I'd take the fifth if this team wants to get past the first round. And if that means resting starters for an extra game or two, all the better.

Hey thats your opinion....

We probably would lose home court after the first round and that wouldnt be good.

The only thing that really confuses me if your love for the Pacers. You seem to be really high on them and I'm not going to ask why because i know your response "go back and read my other posts" :silly:

I agree, alot of games left to play, but if we do get in the situation where we can position ourselves for a better match-up, i'd take it.

mad4comp.... how can I NOT questioon your basketball knowledge when you continually prove that you have none?

Have you even noticed that this "scenario" you conjured up isn't even possible?!

SOMEONE is going to win the Southeast division, and whoever does is going to be one of the top four seeds. You can't have Washington, Miami and Orlando as 5, 6, and 7!

Damn dude, just more proof that everything you say doesn't come out your mouth, but the other end...
