(Jan. 16, 2007) -- Playing with two broken left fingers was the least of Matt Hasselbeck's painful problems this season.
NFL sources confirmed Hasselbeck suspects he has played the past season with a torn labrum in his left shoulder that could sideline him up to and through training camp.
Hasselbeck underwent an MRI, from which he was hoping to learn he might be able to avoid shoulder surgery, but now surgery seems inevitable. Surgery on what is thought to be his torn labrum -- and MRI results were not available as of tonight -- would sideline him for six months.
If Hasselbeck opts against the surgery -- and that would be his preference, though he might not have any choice -- he would be forced to undergo an intense rehabilitation to try to mend his shoulder the best he could.
Either way, it would be a blow to Hasselbeck and the Seahawks and it would leave them with questions at the quarterback position heading into training camp.
