Can we show big Brendan some love?

Last night, another solid performance with 5-6 11 points, 9 boards, 2 blocks in 29 minutes. He is a bigger body in the paint than previously, has stepped it up on both ends of the court, and is looking less and less oafy with every game. If his offensive game continues to develop, this could get real interesting. He has consistently improved throughout the year and deserves some credit.

Let's give it up for the big man!!!!

I'm onboard. He's becoming a big time impact center. I love his effort this season.

He's made some pretty big strides.

The team is SIGNIFICANTLY better with Woodman in. He was grabbing offensive boards over the entire Celtics team last night. He was posting up Sheed Wallace on Friday and served as their best post defender. He continues to make the right decisions with the ball and is rarely in foul trouble. When he plays well, the wiz win. Mad love for wood.

It's true! He is a changed player and an integral part of the success we are having this year.

he drew a charge on Gomes taht was key last night too. That step around on Wallace Friday was (sort of) pretty!

Its nice to see production from the inside on the Wiz...something we've been LONGING for.

And yes, SIX of his 9 boards were offensive....

Last night's game wasn't televised for me. But judging from the other 43 games, Brendan is a whole new player. His play this season has been INSANE and it started way before Etan went down. He was playing huge off the bench but it was overshadowed by Etan's strong play in the starting lineup. With him in the starting lineup, we are like 20-6 or something crazy like that. If this is the real Brendan Haywood then we are set at center for a long time. He is becoming one of my favorite players.

Haywood rocks.

Oh man. I still feel like the second we praise him, its bye-bye Brendan and hello brenda! It's obvious how much he means to this team. We dont lose when he plays like a legit big man. He's been a beast down low, keep making strides Brendan:applause:

Brendan has been playing well this season. He was Pissed @ Coach Jordan for a while for the benching last year & losing the starting job to the POET. He just needed his ego stroked a little. Now that's he back in the line-up, he's playing better. A little competition is the spark all some folks need to play to their potential. I like Haywood. I just wish he would get more touches in the paint and MAKE STRONG MOVES TO THE BASKET & STOP MISSING LAYUPS, PLEASE!!!

BTW, the WIZ are in :1stplace:

We're in first place in the East. What's not to like at this point?

Well considering he usd to play awfuk, it's nice to see him stepping up his game and performing the way we all had hoped, like a 7 ft beast at center!

He's completely changed his game. The biggest improvment seems to be that he's confident. He's not settling for that wimpy hook as much, rather he's taking it straight to the hoop and either getting fouled or slamming it in.

I've been hard on Brendan at times too for being soft and always getting the ball poked away by guards. It still happens at times, but hes gotten alot better at keeping the ball high and attacking the rim. When he is on, it is tough to beat us. He is making his contract look incredibly cheap. We need to free up some space in a few years to keep him here again. With EG here, I have no worries.

He's even been making his free throws recently - what was he 6/6 in the Detroit game?

His improved play this year has definitely been an unexpected bonus.

Its just nice to see us hang on to one of our Big men and watch them develop into a good player. I'm so used to saying, "wow, that All Star used to be a wizard?"

I've seen stretches from him before, but in big games he's taken out of the equation way too easily. IMO he's just not a very good player. He's got size and that's about it. Sometimes he flashes athleticism that makes you say whoa.

If he can continue to contribute I'll be happy, but I hope Ernie always has a plan in mind about grabbing a center of the future. Plus Eddie doens't like him very much, probably for playing too soft. Collins started Brendan every game, and when Eddie came in Brenden would only start by default.

He doesn't seal off his man in the post and has virtually no post game for a center. Not good when you need an inside presence in the playoffs. Just my :2cents:

You'll are so funny. You act like you just discovered America.

Some ( few ) of us having been talking about what he was becoming for several year. This didnt happen over night. He has been getting better for a while. Bigs just take longer and this team wasnt ( still mostly isnt ) set up to give the bigs the ball.

I went insane during our playoff run when the game got tighter and our offense slowed down, we didnt get our bigs the ball enough. I posted the stats several times. The bigs were productive but didnt get enough shots.

BIGS need feed the ball.

Brendan has been playing very well lately. It is nice to see him playing strong inside instead of trying to take those ridiculous fade away jumpers.

Props to #33.

Sorry for giving the guy props. I'll be sure to preface any future posts with "hands11 was on top of this already, BUT..."

This is the wiz forum, but sometimes I need to be reminded it IS still a part of extremeskins.......

I must have forgotten it was an extension. I was counting 5 seasons from when he signed it and thought that was over in 2 seasons. Thats something I'm glad im wrong about...

Its a sweetheart deal. Thats why some of us defended it so much when so many every year called to get ride of him. So many complained how we needed a center and some of us stood by the position that we have one or 2, just give it time.

Well, time has happened and its looking better and better.

Is he Shaq, nooo but few are. Haywood is pretty good and he is getting better.

Do you need someone to hold your hand on every post you make and tell you how you know everything and no one else knows a thing, and how you knew it first while the whole world knew it last? I love your enthusiasm for the wiz baby, but this gets reaaaaaaally old :)

And yes, another solid performance from Brendan, love seeing more offensive boards than defensive!
