I can't find the thread from around a month ago. My dad has a Time Warner HD box and I am trying to help him sync up the sound. It's driving him crazy.

Use an optic cable for the audio. I think that's what the other thread said and that's how I have mine set up. Works fine.

Yeah go with the optical cable from www.monoprice.com. I don't like having to use a reciever for ALL TV viewing though.

Go from the HD cable box with an optical cable straight to the surround sound. For the video, go from the cable box with an HDMI, straight to the tv and you should be good to go. Most people have problems with sound lag when they don't go straight from the box to the surround sound.

Is it that bad??? Help me out here, electronics wiz's. My TV sound is on mute. I get my sound from a Sony DVD Home Theater System, and it's fine in terms of synching the audio. How could your father's be any worse?
