"Taint of Spurrier" is all I have said and ever will say about Grossman.

Grossman will improve. It might be with a different team, but he will improve. I think he'll always have really good games and really, really, REALLY bad games, but in time the good games will start to really outnumber the bad ones. Keep in mind that this was his first full season of action.

I've been saying all week that if the Bears were gonna fall it would be because of him and he didn't let me down.

Grossman for player of the decade!
A guy in my fantasy football league had a sizeable lead going into week 17. If Grossman would've sat the entire game, this guy would've won. But no, he went out there and made a fool of himself against the Packers and got him -8 points, and cost him the fantasy football and $100.

Grossman royally sucked tonight. He single-handedly ruined what could have otherwise been a much better game. Definitely one of, if not the worst QB performance in a superbowl in recent history. It's almost a shame that there was a football team out there good enough to carry a crappy player like him all the way to the superbowl, and equally shameful that he couldn't perform a fraction of what they needed to win.

It seemed like the bear's defense played FOREVER, and still they were only down by like 5 with a lot of time to play. Rex had the chance to drive and put some points up and really make this a game and prove to everyone he deserved to start.... 2 picks later he owes the people of Chicago and his teammates an appology. Brunell would have played better ( haha  )

I said from the start, the Bears best hope was to take a hint from SB XXII and let Griese start.

i decided the bears would not win the superbowl when they got crushed by the packers in week 17

Grossman was awful today.
It is a shame because this game would have been so much better had he not sucked royally. The Bears defense/Hester kick return kept them in it despite the poor play of Rex.
Oh well, I was pulling for Manning/Harrison and the Colts anyway.

Grossman is fundamentally flawed. I don't know for sure, but I suspect he has small hands, judging by passes. He puts WAYYYYYY too much air under the ball. I remember thinking that everytime I got a chance to watch him during the season, and it was confirmed last night. He throws like a college QB, which means he will always throw a high percentage of INTs in the NFL. In another year or two, he will fade into obscurity as a backup somewhere, along the lines of O'Donnell and Woodley.

Cedric Benson, going out cost him and his team.
I don't know why they didn't run it more with that Peterson fella.

Actually I thought he threw like a girl. Granted it was wet and all,but damn, All those picks came when he threw the ball a mile in the air.
We were saying towards the end that if Payton really wanted to be a good sport, he'd have gone to the Bears sideline and offerd to play QB for a few snaps

i'm willing to bet that while the bears will allow rex one more season as a full starter before labeling him as a bust, they'll bring in another young guy to compete for the starting spot (thinking someone along the lines of matt schaub or seneca wallace or even david garrad/byron leftwich).

Even in dry weather, I've seen lots of times where he's thrown up wounded ducks. Quite honestly, the guy is a taller tougher version of Danny Wuerffel. He has Favre's gunslinger mentality (and I don't mean that in a good way), but he doesn't have an NFL arm. My suspicion is he has small hands which prevent him from getting a good enough grip on the pro ball (which is bigger than the college football) to control it. If I'm right, such a handicap becomes even more exacerbated by wet weather. This is not something that is correctable by coaching, it's a physical limitation, like speed.

This could very well be true. As a huge UT fan (and I dont meant the Longhorns either) I saw alot of Gross-man in college. He doesnt play well in bad weather. If it gets real cold or wet he always seems to have problems. Waht is really odd is that he played his high school ball in Ill. and his college ball in Fla., so he should have been able to make adjustments to playing in bad weather, regardless. But he never seems to. So small hands and not realizing his limitations. Peyton tryed going deep twice (1 pick, one td) and decided with the weather the way it was to throw short and run the hell out of hte ball. He made the adjustment to the weather. Grossman didnt.

I say again, Grossman came out of the lousy Spurrier system. I might also add that he allowed that man to refer to him as "Rexy."

After looking back over the game, Rexy had some moments, but he didn't play a horrible game as many claim.
He was 20-28 a TD and two picks
the first pick was a great read by the CB, Rex threw the ball before Muhammad made his move, if the CB hadn't sat in coverage, it might have been a TD for the bears. Plus it was great runback.
The second Int, was short, that was all him. The two fumbles snaps... come on new balls in a downpour??? Romo got a million excuses saying the "new ball was slick" in perfect conditions.
Can't blame Rex that the run game stalled, the one big run lead to a TD pass. The rest of the night Jones was like 15 for 59 yards. Rex hit Clark on 4th down,it wasn't his fault the receiver dropped it after a big hit, Nor was it his fault the colts covered the WR excellently all night, I mean he hit almost 70% with a couple drops.
The problem was the miscues happened at the worst possible times, and only they are being remembered, instead of the fact the defense couldn't get off the field, or the line couldn't block, or the run game stalled.

I agree with some of your points, but totally disagree with others. Grossman completed 5 throws straight to end the game with two minutes left, the colts played prevent with everyone deep and let rexy do his dink and dunk. Rex played with nick harper out, and marlin jackson was hurt for a few plays at least (maybe more). Freeney and company weren't sniffing rex for much of the game, and at the end the announcers stated the colts had 4 backup dlinemen in the game. The two interceptions were horrible imo. The one the receiver had already beat sanders and the cornerback and the ball went 5 yards behind where it should have, easy pick. The other, the cb had stopped and waited, he was man to man with the receiver and waited for about 1 second for the ball to reach him (it seemed like it anyways, everyone in the room saw it coming). The two fumbles and drops i agree with you on. Rex also had 2 passes where they could of been picked, one that i can't believe wasn't. The defense lost the game more than rex, but the offense never ever got it going, even with good field position a few times. Thomas jones averaged 4 yards a carry if you take away the 50 yard gain he had, so Rex did have some help there. At half time rex was 8 for 11 for 55 yards, the coaches never trusted him to begin with or he didn't trust himself, and when he aired the ball out he had 1 pick, 1 that could of been picked, and i only remember the one real deep completion, there was a 20+ yarder to muhammed but it was a 10 yard pass. I totally agree with your point about his miscues being at the worst possible times.

My big observation is that Lovie doesn't seem to trust Rex. That doesn't surprise me, but they really should have been going after Indy more than they were, particularly since they seemed content early on to just dink and dunk. Frankly, it looked like our offense at its worst. Two runs for short gains, then a pass that either was incomplete, or thrown short of a first down.
Once Benson went down for the game, they should have been throwing it more often. It was pretty obvious that other than that one run, that Jones wasn't going to do much.

Without question the WORST 20-28 performance in QB history!

I think alot of the blame will fall on Rex, because he is the qb.. which is typical.
But lets be real here. The bears defense, and the offensive play calling kept the bears defense on the field for most the first half.
The defense played soft, and could not stop any 3rd downs.
grossman was 8-10 in the first half.
Ron Turner called an awful, awful offensive game. when its 2nd and 1 at the 50 in the 3rd qrt he calls for a pass, and from there on the game went down hill.
Rex will be fine. He had some really great games, and really bad games. That will correct itself with time.

I'll be surprised if Griese isn't the starting QB for the Bears next year and/or they move down the draft board to select a QB to groom due to how King Grossman "performed" in the SB.

I bet Grossman will be the starter next year but they won't do as well as they did this year so then we will be gone.
Can't wait for the Skins to beat the Bears at Fed Ex next year
