Starting at 9 I believe they will be airing one of those recap episodes that will bring you up to date from the beginning of the season to this point, I don't know if it will cover the entire show up to this point or if it will just be the current season up to this point...
As for the time change, yeah, it sucks big time....

If you don't have the last few episodes you can download them from the itunes store for about one $ each. You can download the software for free from www.itunes.com (http://www.itunes.com).
The reason why they stopped airing the repeated episodes was because the veiewership dropped to nothing on those episodes. The production times are so slow for Lost that they couldn't keep up with the full season of shows. So they would show repeats in the middle of the season. This dragged the entire ABC networks ratings down people were so pissed.
I'm glad lost is back too. I also heard they were already negotiating the end of the series. It won't be like Giligan's Island where they never get off. They've already told the network when they're ending the series.. I think one more season.

Here is the details from TV Guide on the recap at 9.
A recap of the series prior to the resumption of it's third season. Included: a look at how life on the Island has changed and shaped the characters, as well as a review of their backstories. Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse host.

I am souring on LOST a little. I mean "the others" were all concerned about Aaron & kept trying to kidnap him & now they don't even care that he is there. The whole thing has just gotten to out of control, hopefully they fix it in the 2nd half of this season.

They need to copy what 24 does and just start the season in January.
The way it ended was Jack told the "others" that he will kill the main bad guy (let him bleed to death during surgery) or they had to let Kate get leave. The only problem is there is no way off the island they are on right now and Jack does not know this. The other problem is Sawyer is about to be killed by the husband of the lady that they killed.

Ho-hum.
They've found every way possible to kill people's interest in this show. Relentless repeats last year, interminable hiatus this year, plodding storylines that go nowhere, that insane ARG, moving timeslots, etc etc. I barely care enough to keep watching.

I personally like the time change cause now I can watch criminal minds at 9 with my girlfriend and LOST at 10. I love the show, only missed one episode in the first season.
It was a research station on antarctica that had the red phone that rang and desmon's girl answered.
My sisters b/f is a huge LOST fan also, he has notebooks filled with notes and has the box sets, he has a lot of stuff written down that is insane if you only watch the show on TV.
One epsode there was a man in the clouds and on the episode with the shark swimming with mike and sawyer, the shark had the ( I can't for the life of me remember the companys name) logo on it (whichever company has all the cameras in the hold).

[The scene suddenly switches to a landscape of snowy peaks in blizzard conditions. The camera pulls back to reveal that it's a shot through a window. We see the inside of a fairly small shelter filled with equipment and laundry hanging from lines. One man is getting coffee while another man waits at a chess board.]

Well, Lets see, to address your(and everyone elses) complaints of relentless repeats of last year they this year decided to have the long hiatus this year, and have stated already that next year will be straight through like 24.
If the show wasn't still "so good" then it wouldn't have been a "interminable hiatus" as you put it but simply a time gap between episodes. That being said, there will be no more missing weeks before the season finalie and no more missing weeks next season, so I would say that they are addressing the concerns of the viewership nicely.
I do hate the time switch, I will have to adjust my viewing time to the night after the show by watching on my tivo most nights, but other than that I love the show and am happier with a hiatus than I am incessant reruns for 3 weeks when you are waiting for a new episode, just to get 2 new episodes and then 3 more reruns....

First thing I thought of was clockwork orange.
I am excited to see what this whole thing is. The woman (I forget her name) was only suppose to be there six months. I think she said she has been there for over 3 years because Henry wouldn't let her go.

When he was "fake handcuffed" and they walked up on that guy with the gun that was guarding the area where Alex's boyfriend was being held, after they beat him down, he said something along the lines of "You fell for the Wookie prisoner trick".
The reason I enjoyed it as a top 3 episode is because we saw how Juliet ended up on the island, her ex husband getting killed the way he did was awesome and really makes you question how much power dharma has and the end was just amazing.

Where did you get that from? It's fascinating.
It does seem odd that neither Desmond nor Michael, Jin, or Sawyer noticed any of the other islands during their departure/returns. Two miles is really not that far at all.
What we really should all be talking about is The Anagram, the major clue that was revealed in last night's episode, as per the producers.
Mittelos = "Lost Time"
Let's discuss.
Just a coincedence that on the pre-show they aired the clip with Hurley's comment to Sayid about the radio transmission possibly coming from "any time"? I think not.

She is Rousseau's daughter, and if Ben was really the father it's pretty certain she would have recognized him when she caught him in the net.

Maybe all the "others" are sterile, because of Juliet's experiments? Or maybe that is why she is there, to unsterilze them (the 80 year old womb in the 26 year old's body) Maybe that is a side-effect of their research on the island or something? They steal kids to repopulate themselves until they can do so themselves...or maybe her experiments involve extracting DNA from children or something along those lines...

Best line of the show - maybe the best Lost line ever.
Another great Sawyer line - "The boss's daughter, huh? Didn't see that one coming."
Great episode. Carl was kept in room 23 - not only one of the numbers, but evidently the number of the Devil. Also, another book reference - the guard that fell for the 'wookie prisoner trick' was reading Hawking's 'A Brief History of Time'.
23 is the number for synchronicity.

Based on what I've read, IMO, it makes sense to me, that time on the island is moving at a different speed than from the real world.

Yes, the Big One is where they started. The control island is where Jack, Sawyer, and Kate were taken.
We have seen or heard nothing about the "Observation Island" unless that was where the community was located where the Others actually lived. We have no way of knowing. Perhaps that's where Jacob/Radzinsky/EyePatch guy lives...

Yes, the north small island is the one jack is on now, the small one to the west, well, we haven't seen that one yet. This was the first hint of a third island.
From reading at the lost forum, the producers hinted about a third island in a pod cast and supposedly, that may be the direction that Michael and Walt headed, but that wasn't a definate.
Not sure the eye patch guy would be on the observation island, because if he was, why would the hatch have a camera linked to the observation island?
But I have no clue, just throwing stuff out there...

Well, the ? station had been vacant for quite awhile, and they had to rig up the cameras to work again, so maybe it had some purpose originally and never got shut down. Maybe he needed to communicate with the people in that hatch for some reason.
I tell you what, the first damn thing everybody better do is all get together and pump that Karl kid for every single detail he knows about the island, the others, and everything else. It's maddening the way they don't share information.
Think about it - if Sayid had bothered to tell Kate about Rousseau's daughter Alex, Kate could have made the connection and said something when they were on the beach. "Oh by the way, Ben's not your father...he stole you from your mother when you were an infant and now she lives in the jungle like some half-crazy animal. Yep, maybe Juliet can explain it all to you...gotta go!"
They really need to start screwing with the Others' heads for a change.

I dunno, I mean, im sure they could have just sent Michael on a wild goose chase, but they guaranteed him if he went at 38 degrees or whatever, he would reach the mainland.
Of course that was before the hatch explosion. If they think the world was gone before, then they could not have received any broadcasts such as the Red Sox winning the penant. So if they knew how to get off, they could have sent Ben already cause they already sent Michael.
I guess this still leaves open lots of possibilities, including that they believe the outisde world ended because of the purple sky thing.

Were they? The "a spinal surgeon fell out of the sky" comment made it seem serendipitous to me. I think they could have easily found out who was on the plane once the news that it was lost broke in the real world. Then they could have known everything about the passengers.

what if the explosion of the hatch connected desmond to all his alternitive realities and he experiences them all at once but they are not all happening at the same time, kind of living in a perpetual ground hog day(day break) that doesnt end.
For instance saving charlie, in one reality that is further along than the others he discovers charlie dies drowning cause charlie stays on the beach while claire goes for a swim. So in order to stop charlie from dying he gets charlie off the beach thinking that claire wont drown, in the jungle while desi is looking arround in a panic maybe hes checking in on the other alternate realities and sees claire dies cause charlie was the only one who noticed her in trouble so he has to dash back to save her since her.

I think it is related to this:
http://www.valenzettifoundation.org/photos.html
http://www.valenzettifoundation.org/wikipedia.html
EDIT: This also has to do with the possible orgin of the numbers and the Valenzetti Equation.
That is the possible device or the orgin of the EM device which was in the Hatch - this device, or a descendent of that that device, could have brought down both Flight 815 and could have created a black hole, an event horizon, or a temporary time-space distortation of some type, whatever was the anamoly (which also made the sky turn color). This is one of the Lost tie-in websites and, I believe, explains one element of the Dharma experiements in electromagnetism.
In connection with Mr. Widmore, the father of Desmond's love, here is a website for Widmore Laboratories:

I just have to mention again those websites are just insane, definitely adding to the insanity of the show. People always tell me Lost is a buncha crap and 24 is better, to which I say "does 24, or other dramas, involve soo much thought compared to what Lost does? Brining in soo many different spiritual, philosophical, scientific, and social references that however small they seem, can suddenly explode into a major component of the show?"
This show is pure awesomeness.

The above article contains a theory that tries to explain the mystery behind the island.
You want smart? How about this:
Many of the key characters share the names of great thinkers and philosophers - Locke, Rousseau, etc.
And Desmond's namesake is David Hume, who put forth a theory called compatibilism which posits that free will and determinism both exist, and that what we do with our lives is essentially the result of these two concepts butting against each other. (I'm paraphrasing this morning's EW article but you can check it all out on Wikipedia too)
If it doesn't matter what you do, if the universe is "self-correcting" then why does it matter so much for Desmond to go back and push the button? Seems like a contradiction.
If it was all a concussion induced fantasy, then there's still no explanation for his precognitive abilities.
If it wasn't all a fantasy, you'd have to assume his consciousness has somehow become unfixed, unstuck in time somehow.
Anyone got an advanced degree in quantum physics?

Im not sure about the limo thing, but he does meet Jack right before he is about to do his world race. It would have been after he was in the military though, so definitely some time had passed between the time frame in last nights episode because it was Penelope's father who meets Desmond after he is released from the military. He later decides to the world race and does run into Penelope at the stadium before meeting Jack. Not sure where his meeting with Libby for the boat falls in but probably around that time.

At the rate they're introducing characters, one of these people is eventually going to have to be a DeGroot or a Hanso.

The mark didnt make much sense to me since its concealed, should have slapped that sucker on her forehead.
Im begining to believe that some of the others have been on the islands for their whole lives, when sawyer made the brady bunch ref the clockwork orange kid had no idea what he was talking about. Even if youve never seen the brady bunch you know the name.
I found it funny that jack didnt figure out the machine in sawyers old cage, but also didnt get shocked. The only reason sawyer tried to figure out the machine was cause it shocked him and he wasnt gonna let it get the best of him.

Yeah - I thought there was going to be some parallel with the flashback - like the Asian chick getting marked really badly because she gave Jack the tatoo, which would explain why Jack seemed upset when they said Juliet was to be marked. Oh well...

we dont know what the mark means, tonight was the first mention of it we have heard. I said earlier I dont understand why they would put it on the back where its concealed. perhaps it means those marked can not leave the island? They keep it concealed as not to pyschologically damage them, but that part of the body is searched for anybody trying to leave? Other than that it makes no sense where it is.

That was Locke who was in the sweat lodge doing a hallucinogenic introspective. Locke was intent on entering the hatch he found, and when he was finally able to blast it open hurley was the only one who actively tried to prevent it. I think he holds a grudge against hurley, and that vision is foreshadowing to an eventual show down between the two.
Locke has announced he is going to get Jack, sawyer, and kate back. Even though sawyer and kate will arrive soon, jack is still out there and Locke will go after him. Hurley knowing the power of the others will be the voice against him, justifying Lockes vision as correct and suspecting Hurley as the enemy he always knew he was.
Hurley is not an other, he is just a speed bump on Lockes road and Locke saw it in his vision.

I agree. This episode wasn't all that. I really was hoping for some explainations. But, as usual, they brought up more question than they answered...
What's the deal with thie Isobel lady?
Why mark Jules any way, and why where no one really sees the mark?
What is going on with all the "abducts" ?
It makes me mad how people don't seem to talk to each other and ask the most obvious of questions. Sawyer and Carl are talking and he says "we gave them a better life" Oh yeah? and all Sawyers has to say is "you have back yards?" Really now?
Where? Where do you live? Where are your houses? Where the hell are we? What the heck are you guys doing here? What is with you people, are you some kind of cult? Why were they giving you the Clockwork Orange brainwashing treatment? Never heard of the Brady Bunch? Have you lived here your whole life or what? Why aren't you and Alex allowed to be together? WTF IS GOING ON?!?!

Some of the Lost mystique is slipping away from me. I've enjoyed the last 3 episodes, but I can't shake the feeling I had during the first 2 seasons. I think mainly it's due to 2 things.
1) How the characters never really discuss any of these weird things that happen.
And 2) NO Questions get answered.
Why are the others on the island?
How did they get there?
Why did they bring in people from the mainland?
Why are there Polar bears on a tropical island?
What the hell is that smoke monster?
How did a rather large ship end up in the middle of the island?
How do the others have contact with the outside world?
What do the numbers represent? And why do bad things seem to revolve around them?
What exactly was Dharma trying to do?
Are the others employees of Dharma?
Why has most of the cast had glimpses of people that have passed away, or in Hurley's case, someone from his past?
Why didn't the Smoke monster kill Eko the first time they were face to face?
Why were the others originally wearing disguises?
Why are they so concerned over the well-being of Claire's child?
Why was Walt so special to them?
Why did they let Walt go if he was so special?
Why do dead bodies mysteriously disappear? (Eko's brother, Jack's father, or did Jack really not ever get his fathers body on the plane?)
In fact, the only questions I recall being answered are; what was in the hatch, what happens when you don't push the button (which is still debatable on exactly what happened), and why do the others want Jack? But that leads to another question, they had another oppurtunity to capture Jack, but they didn't, why?
I have my own theories for most of them, some of which revolve around other theories presented at http://4815162342.com
It's just getting damn frustrating that a good portion of these questions have been going on since the first season and none of them have been answered. I'm not even totally convinced that everything will be explained by the time they do end the show. I can easily see them never explaining the Polar Bears:silly:
The most famous theory is probably "The Ultimate Theory" Which I think holds water in a lot of places, but a few things have been proven false since the start of season 3. It's worth a read though. And I think the writer's theory on the smoke monster would show why it did not kill Eko the first time they met, but why it chose to during their second encounter.

I dunno man. Seemed like Karl's brainwashing was more of a punishment or something. Plus, I think he's lived there his whole life so I'm not sure he would really "need" it. He didn't know who the Brady Bunch were. Even if you've never seen it you would recognize the name and he didn't have a clue.
I took the "we're here to watch" to mean they were going to watch the trial. But, because they never freaking explain anything we can't be sure.
"Hey it's great to see you are alive Jack! Nope, I don't notice that you are in a cage at all!"

Well, its obvious that Karl and Alex are rebelling from the others for one reason or another - so maybe Karl is being brainwashed to quell that stuff. 3 Mysteries:
1) Cindy and the kids
2) Meaning of Jack's tattoos
3) Where the Others live (The Big Island)
What a letdown. This was just like watching the episodes from the first part of this season. Did anything actually happen? Wow…Jack’s tattoos means he is a great leader, but lonely and angry. Like that wasn’t completely obvious since the first season.
Nothing came out of the scene with Cindy, or any of the scenes with Diana Scarwid. (“The Sheriff”) Ho-hum.
Next week – Hurley finds a car!
Glad to see they’re working so hard on explaining the bigger plot arcs…not.
BTW, Karl is a tool and deserves to be killed. After all the insane torture he's still SO convinced that the children are better off with those psychopaths than with the Losties. Stick your Helsinki syndrome up your arse and pull your head out, idiot.

I swear we've seen her before. I can't remember where for the life of me, but if I have time, I'm going to rewatch the first and second seasons. She's in there somewhere, I'm 92% sure.
I kept thinking she looked familiar but realized it was because I had seen her in an episode of Prison Break when they found the money buried inside her garage.

So Jack's tattoo translates to "he who walks with others but isn't one of them"...or something like that.
But it doesn't "mean" that according to Jack. Any guesses as to what it actually means?
She told him. She sees who people are and then marks them accordingly.
Jack's mean he is a great leader, but lonely and angry, yadda yadda yadda.
And for all of you speculating, Diana Scarwid has NEVER been on Lost before.
You have not seen "The Sheriff" previously. This is a new character.
I think Cindy and the kids were there to watch the execution, not the trial.
When they asked about Ana-Lucia, I was praying Jack was going to scream "How's she doing?!?! Your pals forced one of our people to pump her full of bullets! THAT'S how she's doing!"
Anyone else think that scene of Henry lying prone on the boat was awfully reminiscent of the Arthurian legend? Like at the end of Excalibur when Arthur's body is being borne out to sea by the women in the boat. Odd.

Did the Losties ever find that out for sure? I thought they still blamed Henry for killing Libby and Anna...damn I need to rewatch seasons one and two! :(

Yeah, Jack and Hurley and Kate and Sawyer all found out on their excursion to get Walt at the end of last season.
I would assume Hurley told the rest of the Losties, but given the way they stubbornly refuse to share information on this show, who knows?
I'm still trying to figure out Mr. Friendly's comment to Jack about the stones and the glass house. What was he trying to say? That struck me as significant.

I think he was just implying that they had control over him, and he shouldn't throw stones (or resist or make demands) because he had no power (or lived in a glass house). Its an expression..."Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones." I don't think there was any deeper meaning. :whoknows:

The tattoo really means "Tai Whore was here".
:paranoid:  from the flashback, I figured that it said "I slept with your sister so please beat the crap out of me."
or maybe "I went to Thailand and all I got was Herpes."

Thanks for the insight. Of course I'm familiar with the expression, but the context was curious. He says something like "let's get you some stones" or something like that.
Tom is an interesting guy. Seems like just yesterday we all thought he was the bad-ass leader of the Others. Now's he's practically comic relief.

Another question would be why was a Thai Mystic giving Jack a tattoo in Chinese?

we dont know what the mark means, tonight was the first mention of it we have heard. I said earlier I dont understand why they would put it on the back where its concealed. perhaps it means those marked can not leave the island? They keep it concealed as not to pyschologically damage them, but that part of the body is searched for anybody trying to leave? Other than that it makes no sense where it is.
My only guess would be that it means she is no longer "pure". She is now one of the ones, like Jack, Kate, and Sawyer, that has sinned, however the others define what a sin is. We know that Hurley and Locke are not the marked ones that they wanted to kidnap. Maybe they test theories on how to fix the wrong-doers.
I'm expecting Isabel (the Sheriff) to scream "No Wire Hangers" at any moment.

Also, technically they only explained HALF of Jack's tattoo - the lettering. The symbols were not explained.

about the "lets get you some stones" comment from the big gay dude, I think what hes talking about is punishing Jack like they did to kate and sawyer by making him break rocks. That guy isnt exactly happy with Jack for all his extra slicing and dicing on Ben, and pretty much causing Jules to kill one of their own.

Actually, I disagree. And soon, I bet we will see them (Jack and fake leader beard guy whose name I can't remember) with a false sense of friendship. Trust me on that. ;)
As for the stones/glass comments. It was a reference to Jack's people who have done bad things (as seen from the others point of view) also. It's kind of like a, "STFU because you (the survivors) too have done bad things i.e. torturing Ben, torturing your own guy Sawyer, killing Ethan (no matter how unstable he was), etc.".

worst episode yet. It seems like they've totally forgotten how to weave multiple storylines together this season much less make them compelling. But it was nice seeing Jack getting pounded on, chinese tattoos on non-asians = not cool.

You're talking about the football scene, you spoiler. :)
I actually think the more literal rock-breaking explanation seems to make sense given how he said it, although clearly this never materialized. But it certainly fits in a metaphorical sense as well.
I don't think Tom dislikes Jack. I think he's more like a big dumb dog, loyal, but not too bright.

I kinda like Tom, he is loyal to the others, but seems relatively level-headed. He doens't know the full story of anything, but he tries to make sense of what he knows. Yeah, it is funny how only last season we thought of him as Zeke, leader of the others and "Henry Gale" as some dumb Other who came to the camp.
The episode was pretty poor on the whole, and they advertise next weeks episode similarily to this one, meaning I think it may suck as well.

at first I thought it was a literal rock-breaking thing too, because of they way he said it. It was a clumsy way of saying those in glass houses shouldnt throw stones, but watching it again on the abc site I think that was big gay al's dumb way of saying the saying.

I was a bit pre-occupied with being in the ER lastnight, so I didn't catch the whole episode, I missed the part about the rocks. But, didn't someone earlier in the thread mention something about sinners? Is it possible he was saying lets get you some rocks as in "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone?"
Just throwing it out there, gonna have to watch the episode fully when I get home tonight.

good point about casting out the first stone, maybe big gay al was just mixing the two sayings into one clumsy one.

At the beginning they made it sound like they were one - the Sheriff said something about 'a 5 and chinese symbols'. But on the beach the 5 and the rest above the 5 were not on his arm. That way they can make a whole other episode - hell maybe a spinoff - about the rest of his gay ass tats.
