JPM in 4th palce in his 1st Qualifying was very impressive. I'm a big Juan Pable fan and hope he does well. the wind during the session screwd up a few people who should have finished higher. Boris said was impressive as well.

Must have been an interesting day. THREE cars disqualified. One in pre-qualifying inspection and two afterwards. Seems like it's going to be a very interesting speed week.

I'm going to start watching NASCAR closely now because of Pablo "the mad Colombian". He was an absolute loon in F1, just imagine in a race series where shunts are a norm. Can't wait. :D

NASCAR's an interesting sport. What other sport STARTS the season with it's biggest event?

As usual Tony qualifies in the middle of the pack, but we will see him dominate the race once again. Jr and DEI may know restrictor plate racing, but Tony is quickly becoming the new King of the Super speedways; now he just needs to get the Daytona 500 monkey off his back.

Tony will end up finishing well in the Duels on thursday and find himself in the top ten grid come next sunday. He had a fast car in the Bud Shootout and pretty much was just waitin behind Ky. Busch until the end. He could have lead the most laps but why push the car that hard when he knew he could win in the last 20 laps.

You know he still may start at the back of the pack. Only the first 2 spots are secured.

It's hardly a sport.

 Here we go again. Why wouldn't you consider it a sport?

Because I'm contentious and hate watching cars go in circles for 3 hours.

Yeah, it would be that boring if it wasn't all taking place at 180 miles per hour with 32 other cars each about 2 feet from one another, all while balancing each car on the knife's edge of performance and being completely out of control.

There are a lot of people with some pretty hostile feelings towards NASCAR. I used to be one of them. Then I actually started WATCHING it and APPRECIATING it. It is beautiful. These cars are engineering and aerodynamic wonders. You can really gain an appreciation of physics by watching these cars race around a track.
Then, you can factor in the human element. Since these cars are all similar with the exception of the engines, aerodynamic bodywork, tires, and so on, there is really something that can be said for having a driver that can consistently run with the best of them like Tony Stewart (my favorite:)).
Especially during the night races, I like to imagine what aliens in a spacecraft must be thinking about our human race as it hovers above a racetrack all lit up at night with hundreds of thousands of people watching these mechanical wonders utilizing drafting and physics to race against each other in long, single file lines. It just seems like it would be quite a sight for an alien with the roar of the engines.

It's going to be fun watching Juan and Menard go after Rookie honors this year. All the disqualifications have ALOT to do with NASCAR REALLY cracking down this year, so we'll see if they stay as strict during pre-race/post-race inspections. At Daytona, and Talledega, it's not always where you start, as it is when you make "your move". I think as always Jr, and Tony will be racing together. Plus I wouldn't rule out seeing Jr., and Harvick start helping each other out more due to they may be teammates next season. Can't wait for the Duals, and the 500 on Sunday. A good way to pass the time before football again :)

If anything is taken logically, it's absurd.
American Football: Guy throws an egg shaped ball at another guy. Guy catches ball. Or doesn't. Some big guys try to stop this happening.
European Football: Kick a ball into a net.
Baseball: Hit a ball with a stick.
Sex: in.....out in......out in......out in...out in..out in..out in out in-out in-out inoutinoutinout UGGHHHHHHHHH!
Marriage: Marry a pretty girl just so you can watch her get ugly
Kids: Keep you awake at night, break the bank, make your hair fall out and then when they finally become responsible adults they sod off and don't know if you exist

I've been watching with the sole hope that James Hylton, the 72 year old man, somehow finds a way into the Daytona 500. For some reason, i just want to cheer for him.
