Im allowed to post it now right? Anyway we should win this game at home, hopefully we can stop KG somewhat..I think if we get a good game out of our bench and Blatche we should be alright..And we get Etan back for tonight..
Go Wizards!!

Of course, I mean at this point any time on game day is acceptable (lol last month  ).
Arenas is historically better in Part II of the season (see last year 31 PPG 7 APG) so let's hope history continues! Go Wizards!

Gilbert's got alot of his distractions out of the way now....the predictions, the all-star game, the arguments with coach.....I expect him to get back to normal and out of this slump, starting tonight.

I think we can win this one. I like the KG vs. Blatche matchup, as they are pretty much identical in terms of size and stature. Obviously KG will get the best of Blatche, but I think he could give KG a little bit of trouble at times too. Gil tears it up tonight and we have a comfortable win

With Blatche and Haywood in the middle you got two guys who really disrupt shots and make it tough to score on the paint.
If we could add a serious perimeter defender along with those two, we could legitimately have one of the best Defenses in the game. I know, shocking but we COULD.

The Wizards can win basketball games without Jamison in the lineup if they get:
1. 50% shooting and good shot selection from Arenas
2. Rebounding inside from Blatche, Haywood and any combination of Butler/Songaila/Thomas
3. A third scorer (ie Stevenson or Songaila) to step up and post 12-15 to support Butler and Arenas.
Arenas' shot selection was horrible in the last games before the all-star break. He was pressing and it was painful to watch at times.
Blatche has only recently gotten the minutes and I think has shown that while he is a work in progress on offense and at times in transition defense, he can rebound the basketball and present the difficult mismatch of an athletic 6'11 body for opponents to check.
Stevenson needed to step up offensively. He showed last year he could put up points when called upon, I think this year it took awhile for him to readjust from being in a supporting role to being a guy who looks for his shot.
Good win, though coming off the break. Got to beak the 76ers, Twolves and teams like the Knicks and NO to keep pace before Jamison returns.

A veteran post from an extremeskin pro. I would add that those stipulations should still prove hard to meet for the rest of THIS season. The Wizards are a growing team and inconsistency has not been proven a thing of the past yet. If this team stays healthy, we can expect these things on a nightly basis next year.

Blatche gave you the rebounds. Gil and Deshawn gave you the points. Everybody else did alittle of everything else. Its all about holding down the fort until Jamison gets back. Then you've got a much deeper bench even if he's only 1 guy.

Great game by DeShawn. 9 of 11 is no joke. Love when he can hit that looping fade. Etan also had some nice minutes. You could tell Eddie kept him out there for a while to build his confidence and he put in some work down low. I am getting more and more excited about Songaila's playmaking, as was Phil, who gushed about some of those quick rips to Etan down low. This guy linking up with a finisher (Jamison anyone?) is going to be nice in the half-court driven playoffs. You would look at 2 pts, 1 board and a couple of assists and think, so what, but there was some nice work put in by the Lithuanian. Can't say much more about Andray that hasnt already been said and re-quoted by hands11. He played great and continues to take Jarvis's minutes away (hooray!). I think coach is shelving AD for the playoffs. It will pay off in the end. Caron is in a bit of a slump, seemingly hung over ever since the all-star selection. Maybe his chef needs to cut some more sodium out of his egg whites or whatever. Another 11-man rotation game, people can't complain about Eddie's lineups anymore. Maybe Jamison's injury is just what the bench needed. hmmmm. I'm like this after every win I guess.
oh and Gilbert had 38 (!!!!!!)

February-21st-2007, 09:45 AM
the biggest questions about this team with playoff time approaching is 1) whether the club will get consistent rebounding and 2) does the front court have enough quality fouls to give in games with the better centers and PFs in the conference............
the addition of Blatche, Songaila to the rotation up front and the return of a hopefully more focused Thomas should provide these wildcards.
one has to believe that Arenas and Butler will make it all the way back from their mini-slumps and that Jamison is still a 18 ppg/8 rebound upon his return.
Jarvis Hayes was 4-8 last night and scored 8 points but has been a clear disappointment since he was drafted. I think you are seeing the last of him in a Washington uniform barring some unforseen circumstances.
DeShawn Stevenson and Blatche have made their case for new contracts, DS because of his consistent play in 2007 and Blatche because of his lottery pick talent which is just starting to be tapped.
