I don't care what you say...this instantly makes them the favorites to rep the AFC in the superbowl. That defense is going to be disgusting yet again. If they get Brady some receivers, they might go undefeated.

Doesn't surprise me at all. The Pats LOVE versatility and Adalius Thomas basically defines the term. Good signing for them.

wow, a good defense just became nasty. plus a receiver heavy draft + NE's two 1st round picks means they are the front runners to win it all next year

Yep. They are an organization to envy.
Then again it doesn't hurt to luck into drafting a franchise QB in the 6th round.

Lets hope our streak against them doesnt end next season. The Pats havent beaten the Redskins since Joey T was QB. Yes we have beaten the "great" Tom Brady

SportsNite on Comcast SportsNet has reported that Thomas will be heading up to New England tomorrow for a physical and contract signing. Don’t hold me to it, but I believe they said that Thomas should be receiving something along the lines of $15 million in “up-front money.” (Sorry for the lack of a link, but it’s a TV show.)

I take it by your lame eyeroll and use of quotation marks that you don't think 3 time Superbowl champ and 2 time Superbowl MVP Tom Brady is great? In that case, you need to look the word up...but then again, I guess Skins fans aren't used to seeing it lately.

Whats with the Patriot hate? I mean they're a great team in the opposite conference. They don't have any TO type guys either. I've got nothing but respect for the Pats.

But I can see how a fan could hate Belichick's attitude and style.

I think Thomas was the best FA this year - he's gonna have a bright future in New England.

I'm surprised they signed him, they normally sign older LB's who are smart and not as athletic anymore. Thomas is definitely gonna improve that LB corps like none other.

Gonna be interesting to see how that plays out in the locker room. Very few players on that team get paid what they are worth.

They should be the favorite to win the superbowl. Last year they played without Harrison and Eugene Wilson for the entire year basically and now are getting a young Willie McGinnest to their nucleus. Maroney should get better and the Pats will invest in WR this offseason

I respect them also. Quite possibly the best run organization in sports and not just the NFL.

60 million...

PATS LAND THOMAS
The New England Patriots reportedly have reached an agreement in principle with free-agent linebacker Adalius Thomas. He generally was regarded as the second-best available talent in a relatively week field, behind cornerback Nate Clements.
Initial, albeit equivocal, reports of the deal broke on Friday night, primarily from John Tomase of the Boston Herald and Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe. We're also told that Tom Curran of NBCSports.com has reported that the deal is expected to be worth $60 million over six years.
Thomas, 29, is slated to take a physical before the agreement is finalized.
He was a versatile defensive contributor in Baltimore, but was overshadowed by the likes of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed and Chris McAlister and Terrell Suggs.
The Ravens could have kept Thomas by slapping the franchise tag on him, or could have applied the tag and then traded him to a team like, say, the Patriots. If New England is willing to give a guy $60 million to get him on the team, the Pats also likely would have considered coughing up a second-round or third-round draft pick.
But the Ravens have a borderline goofy approach when it comes to using the franchise tag. The team has apparently bought into the notion that the use of the tag is in some way disrespectful to the player. As if a one-year guaranteed salary in excess of $7 million is a sign of contempt.
The irony, as a reader pointed out to us on Saturday morning, is that the team with which Thomas is signing has zero qualms about using any arrow in the quiver when it comes to managing the business side of the sport.

Actually, Shefter is reporting 5 years at 37.5 million, with 24 million in the first three years.

But I definitely agree it was THE signing of the year.

Honestly, it's jealously. The Patriots are like that neighbor that, no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, they always seem to have better things and do better then you without even trying. Hell I hate them because I wish to god our FO was half as good as theirs.
And on that note ... GRRR I HATE THOSE PATRIOTS!!!
