Jets consider acquiring Lions pick
The Journal News is reporting there were unconfirmed rumors that the Jets were thinking of swapping their first pick, 25th overall, and a defensive starter, to the Lions for the second overall pick.

We have to assume the 'defensive starter' is linebacker Jonathan Vilma as his name has been the subject of many trade rumors the last few weeks.

Who do they want?

I imagine the Jets either want a shot at Calvin Johnson or maybe Joe thomas to go on the other side of Ferguson.

i heard yesterday that they want Calvin Johnson.

or Adrian Peterson, but now they have Jones, so there is only one left. Source escapes me, maybe it was during a Greg Burton interview on 950AM?

Wow. If they offered the Skins this deal I'd be awfully tempted to do it. Bring in the guy from the U and pick later in the draft for a d-lineman. We may be able to get another pick out of the Jets as well.

the guys they want won't be around when we pick.

Moving to the sixth is a lot better then sticking to the 25th

Vilma makes no sense now that we have Fletcher. I'd want a D-lineman from them and at least 2 more picks to go along with their 25th.

that totally depends on what you are giving up to get the pick and if the player/position you are targeting is far superior to what you would get at 25. they aren't gonna trade for ****s and giggles-- they are targeting someone... if they aren't there then what is the point?

Vilma and the 25th is worth the #2 overall? That would be the biggest swindle since the Skins took the Saints entire draft.

Wouldn't a QB make more sense for the Jets? Pennington isn't exactly a model healthy QB and they have no depth. I was thinking that they are trying to get Quinn or Russell.

Only one player in this draft is worth moving that high up to get, its Calvin.

You really see someone giving up Vilma and the #25 pick for a tackle?

C'mon boys, put your thinking caps on. Its Calvin, Calvin, Calvin.

Well at that number 6 the person they are targeting could still very well be there. Who would have thought that Leinart would drop to the 10th overall pick. Saying the person they want won't be there is a pretty bold statement and Im sure there are a few players they are looking at in the top five that they feel won't be there in the 25th.

they've got Kellen Clemens who they are pretty high on. - It's gotta be CJ.
