DENVER -- The Broncos have heard cornerback Dre' Bly is bitter about being traded to Denver, and that he'd prefer to play for Washington.

The team, though, wants to give him some time to warm up to the deal. It's only been a few days since the 29-year-old Bly was acquired from Detroit -- along with a sixth-round pick -- for running back Tatum Bell, offensive lineman George Foster and a fifth-round pick.

Tell Bly he can come over if he plays for the league minimum.

I wouldn't say I'm praying. He won't make or break this Redskin team. But he can certainly help.

I got a feeling Bly is going to be a skin no matter what Denver says. How many times have we heard Gibbs say something just like it...

Denver's Press is notorious for working hand in hand with Shanahan and the Bronco's FO - sounds like a response to the WP article.

This along with Shefter saying that the Broncos want Betts for Bly both sound like an attempt to make Wash nervous.

I would be pissed off to if I had to play for denver instead of the REdskins

So what Denver wants Betts. It seems like the Skins aren't willing to part with him. Anyway the biggest part of the proposed trade is not the players but all of the picks. Also, I can't imagine that Denver wants Betts as much as they used to after just paying big money to Travis Henry.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Redskins, but with the current state our FO and the organizaion is in, I'd probably prefer to play in Denver over Washington as a player.

Now if I was a given a chance to play for any NFL team, I'd pick the Skins in a heartbeat!

I read that article earlier this afternoon. it came out long before the WP article.

This makes me think it is more likely that we trade Springs in this deal. Denver wants to come out of this with a corner opposite Bailey and a stud rookie DE.

The man wants to come to Washington badly, probably for a pay-day but, I'll give him the benfit of the doubt and say BRING HIM TO WASHINGTON! The guy WANTS to be here, so I figure he'd try harder and play better because he's in a situation he likes.

There is no hurry to make any deal. It is all gamesmanship. They have over a month to think on it.

I think t would be crazy not to take this trade.I mean if we can switch 1st round picks and then get Bly.Then on top of that get there 2nd or 3rd maybe both. Then we could turn around and trade Springs to another team like Detroit for a 3rd or 2nd round pick.I mean Detroit has been getting a lot of picks the last few weeks. We could come out of this with 2 or 3 more picks then what we have. Then we could get a CB doesn't get hurt as much.

Maybe we are not willing to take it DEEP this time , and Denver is trying to pull their pants back up.

Yeah, thank god we don't need a stud rookie DE or anything.

The thought of giving up potential high impact D linemen like Anderson, Okoye, or Branch for a couple of likely space fillers just kills me. Oh and don't forget we get an undersized corner who isn't interested in playing run support, misses open field tackles, and obviously just wants a pay day. Sweet deal!

I dont want to trade springs.. Point BLANK!

^ What he said. Springs is a solid #1 corner. With out him and with Bly, we would have NO #1 corner. Bly is a #2 at best!

We would be trading Springs to put ourselves back into the exact same finantial situation as we were in (in a year or 2) only we wouldn't have the same quality of talent. Plus they both are injury prone. At least with Springs we get a Redskin locker room leader, #1 CB, and if he gets hurt we still got Smoot to hold the fort!

I'd need Champ Baily and 3/4 of all Denvers picks before I took Bly over Smoot or traded Betts.

Trade Carlos Rogers for Bly!

This is a ploy, saying to the Skins we want to keep him, when they know that the Redskins will get impatient and give up more for less. Denver will rape us if we do the Bly deal, you watch!

Dre Bly does not fit with our D scheme. Dre Bly is not good in run support and is not a good tackler. Smoot isnt great in either, but he throws his body around and plays with fire and passion.

I like Bly, but I'm wary. CB's are hot right now in the NFL. Let's just hope the 'Skins don't fumble and give up too much if they're seriously considering Bly's services. Standing pat with a maturing Rogers, a reunited Smoot, a healthy Springs, and a nasty Taylor wouldn't be the worst thing for our secondary.

It may be a ploy, but the 'Skins have been supposedly discussing trades with Denver for over a month, and have kept saying no. I don't sense the usual aggressive stance this time. I would guess it will be the boatload of picks as proposed in the WP or nothing.

He wants to play for Washington because he had already worked out a contract extension with the Redskins, giving him a big payday. Denver is not going to renogotiate his contract at this time and Bly is gripping over it.

While I might be not as enthusiastic about getting Bly to the point of praying, I'd certainly want him here, mostly because I really respect the fact that he wants to come to Washington. Perhaps its because he expects a large contract, or perhaps its because he genuinely wants to live close to home, since he's form Virginia, but I still really like that in a guy.

I'm so confused. But this is normal I guess, and I guess thats why I'm so confused. Stuff is usually done a lot quicker here in Skins Country.

If we can turn our #6 and Springs into:

Late #1, #2, #3, #3 and Bly - pull the trigger!

One of the 3rd rounders could come from any team willing to trade for Springs, the rest come from Denver.

I know that alot of folks would then want to trade up in the 1st, but I would only be willing to dangle one of the 3rd rounders as trade bait. We should keep the #2 if we get it...

I'm not sold on letting Springs go. It seems like he's had some differences with the coaching staff, lately, but I really like him and I think he belongs here in Washington. Now if we could get Bly without getting rid of Springs--well, the more the merrier, I say. Anything's better than our situation last season.

This sounds an awful lot like Denver Broncos spin. Wouldn't it enhance your bargaining power to say to the Redskins (or anyone else), "we really have no intention of trading him anytime soon." ???

I don't think for a minute we'd be giving up a potential high impact lineman. They Redskins if they do this could look to trade up to anywhere between 12 and 14. They are supposedly targeting Okoye. If you can give me 2 teams that want Okoye before the 14th pick that'd be great, but I think he'll still be there unless somebody wants to trade up in front of us. The Redskins want picks, this would give them picks. If Springs doesn't want to be here, this gives them enough leway to trade Springs.

I don't know what they're going to do and I'm still holding out hope that Springs will be here, but hey, if they can get picks like they want I'm not going to try and stop it. Everyone complains that they have no draft picks, this gives them draft picks. They also will be in the running for guys like Okoye, Adam Carriker(if they want him), Patrick Willis from Ole Miss and others.

I would not give up Betts. He is too valuable to us. If Clinton gets hurt again? If Betts gets hurt. We need TWO great RBs.

When does his contract end? He could play out his current one, then sign with Skins as a FA.

I want Springs to be here; he's the best CB we currently have. But, if we can get a chunk of picks and an other CB for him, I think we have to consider the offer. In all honesty, I'm not completely sold one way or another on Bly, yet.

I would like to pick him up it would make for some great compitition at the cb position.
I have no interest in trading betts though I think that would be a big mistake.

Our first round pick is worth more than Denver's first, second, and two third round pics combined. Our first rounder equals 1600 points, denvers four picks together equal 1550 points. Now if Denver wanted to cough up Bly, their 1st, 2nd, and two 3rds for our 1st and 5th. I'd think about it. That way if we could move Springs to safety or possibly trade him for an additional pick (Maybe 3rd rounder). That would give us a lot of flexibility, it would give us enough picks to trade back up to a higher spot in the first round, while still having multiple first day picks.

I am with you. What can Bly do that Smoot or Springs cant? I know Springs is injury prone but when healthy he is really good. So get Springs healthy in the offseason and there is no need for Bly.
