Droughns latest tailback on trade market
By Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com

In an active tailback market, where three starters have already changed teams via trades in the past week, there figure to be even more deals in coming days.

And the player most likely to be traded next is Reuben Droughns of Clevelend, who has been made expendable by the Browns' signing of unrestricted free agent Jamal Lewis to a one-year contract Wednesday night.

League and team sources confirmed to ESPN.com that the Browns are actively shopping Droughns, their starter the past two seasons, in trade talks.

If Cleveland is unable to reach a trade accommodation, Droughns could be released.

I can not imagine he is going to drum up a lot of interest. He did not have a good year last year at all and seeing what other RBs have gone for, I can not see more that a late round pick heading to the Browns for 'ol Reuben.

I originally thought the combo of Droughns and Jamal Lewis might be pretty decent, but just Lewis would be a little risky. Why not just keep him.

It's a buyer's market for RB's. Droughns is in the discount bin.

Can't see much action on him at all. Probably be picked up after he is released.

Because Adrian Petersen is on the way.

Sure sign pointing towards the Browns drafting A Peterson.

Droughns played with a bum shoulder last year. Infact he hurt his shoulder on the same collision that broke David Pollack's neck. Droughns would be a decent pickup for some team. Maybe Green Bay.

Over the last three years, Ruben Droughns has put numbers comparable to the numbers of Clinton Portis and Willis McGahee.

2004-2006 combined stats
W. McGahee 3,365 yds; 24 TDs
C. Portis 3,354 yds; 23 TDs
R. Droughns 3,230 yds; 12 TDs

I would suspect his value is a little less than what McGahee's value was: maybe just a 3rd and a 7th (without the extra 3rd that McGahee demanded).
