In Demarcus Russell. http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/10060470
This makes no sense at all.

I think thats what were all wondering, JaMarcus is a great athelete but we already used a first on Campbell 2 years ago, and weve just started to see what he can do.
BTW, theres a thread about this just a few down.

no big deal, it pretty much says every team in the top 10 of the draft met with him.
It's Jemarcus, not demarcus

Confusing. If this is some sort of trick so that no one gets a read on us then thatd be great.

If I were Jason this would confuse me...but there is so much politicking involved here, who knows? I would be super pist if this goes down.

Already a thread about our "alledged" interest in Russell around four threads below... :)

I think our FO is doing a great job in FA, but this would completely blow me out of the water.

Russle has the talents of the Tom Bradys and Peyton Manning according to scouts.
Campbell has the talent to a decent to good QB. I was not very impressed with him aftera year and a half sitting. I did not like his accuracy. But he showed a lot of potential with the deep ball.

Not saying its going to happen, but our 1st, JC, and any assortment of picks over the next two years for the #1 to get Russell wouldnt surprise me.
Again, NOT saying its going to happen. Just saying a deal like that would not surprise me. Wouldnt surprise me if Springs was thrown in there somehow too.

JaMarcus Russel wasn't the only LSU Tiger that worked out today. :)
Just because a pro-day is headlined by one player, doesn't mean a team is looking only at the headlining player.

Russell is going to be a huge bust. Quinn is the best QB in this draft. He reminds me of Tom Brady.

We are not interested in him. It's all part of the draft. Just in case he falls to 6 we want teams thinking we might take him, so other teams will trade up to get him.

so what are you suggesting we trade someone to New Orleans for their picK?

Yeah right, and Quinn is an even more likely bust if he ends up in the wrong system.

it's almost guaranteed that Russel will be drafted in the top 5. why do the Redskins want to force other teams to stew about trading up? if this were to happen...does this improve, reduce or have no effect on the value of the Skins' pick sitting at #6? A positive scenario may be there...I just don't see it.

JC has a big wind up when he passes the ball. The bigger the wind up the longer the pass will take. The longer the pass take gives the defender a chance to make a play on the ball. If you compare JC's stats to MB stats. You will clearly see that MB had a better season. JC didnt impress me at all to be honest. JC is now exposed to the league and once your weakness gets exposed teams will attack your weakness. If he can get rid of the big wind up and pass from the cheast he will be ok. I will not be shocked if the skins brought in another QB.

Why. He is stronger, faster, has a better arm than Russell. Why would he be a bust?

I agree. Campbell doesn't impress me. Hopefully he can perform this year, or we will be terrible.

It also gives the coaches time to coach him up. And a quarterback doesn't throw from his chest. That would be like shotputting the ball. A quarterback should throw the ball like a baseball catcher. As a matter of fact, there have been quite a few guys I've known who have played both positions. The only one I know of who plays in either of the major pro leagues is Joe Mauer, but the throwing motion should be similar.

Actually, I'd be interested in him... He has a rocket for an arm. The guy has potential beyond Jason Campbell's, but the Redskins probably don't want to draft him.

Quinn doesn't have near the arm of Russell... I doubt he's faster or stronger (though his bench work was surprising)...

If its going to take a year or two for JC to develop better mechanics. Then drafting a qb might not be a bad idea.

He "IS" going to be a bust? LOL. I guess you knew Leaf & A.SMith were gonna be busts too?
Brady was a 6th round pick, how can someone remind you of a 6th round pick?
Regardless, no way the Skins will trade for Russell, dosn't make sense.

Maybe they want Landry and think they can get him if they drop to the 10-12 area, but don't want other teams to trade up and get him (if they trade back). Just a thought.

this is probably just a way for us to
1. Keep our cards out of sight (not that it really makes a difference)
and
2. Possibly put pressure on one of the teams drafting above us to push them to want to draft him...further giving us a chance to get who we want

I remember the written rumors of us being interested in Robert Gallery, Charles Rogers and Joey Harrington (and for that fact Barry Sanders). None ever became a 'Skin.
