The Denver Broncos signed cornerback Dre Bly to a five-year, $33 million contract Wednesday. The deal includes $18 million in bonus money, $16 million guaranteed.
Is it safe to say Springs will definately not be traded or released now? Also does this mean we draft CB in the draft?

yea i would seriously doubt springs would be gone under any circumstances. we need him to be back, and Gibbs has stated multiple times the team wants him back, so i think he'll be here. we need him back there badly. i just hope he can stay healthy

He has to be back with Bly committing to the Broncos. For development puposed it would make sense to draft a couple of corners in the mid-late rounds with the hopes of finding a 4th corner there....

We have no other choice. He's the best we have right now.

And that's sad, because all things considered, he's simply not worth what we pay him right now.

with carlos rogers and getting smoot back, and if the briggs trade goes through, I wouldn't be surprised to see us get a CB at 31, if there is one there of value, and move springs to FS and taylor to SS this year. There have been articles on redskins.com since we got him about how he'd probably transition to safety at some point. Archuleta's gone, vincent's out, and we need a starting safety who can actually cover. with briggs and washington and mcintosh at LB we'll be better on the run defense, this plan seems to make sense to me. I'd be quite happy with a secondary of Rogers and Smoot at DB, and Springs and Taylor at safety, because I'd imagine that then we could play 7 guys in the box against most all teams in the league. Otherwise it seems to me like we're wasting talent by sitting rogers or smoot on the bench at all.

I think in third and long situations it's a good bet you will see Springs as a safety. I don't know about drafting CB 1st round though. I was thinking a second day pick unless we trade down and aquire a 3rd rounder. This season we have three starting caliber CB's, but after that nothing. Draft a project this year where he would at most, be forced into the nickle role in event of an injury to our top 3.

Well Gibbs sounded like he would be here and for all its worth so did Smoot at his press conference after he signed.
Although it wouldn't bother me either way because he doesn't seem like a CORE Redskins and with his injuries he's a real liability to the team.

How come that picture of the Capitol Building looks odd to me? The one in your sig, it has the same shape obviously, but for some reason it doesn't look like the same building?
Oh yeah back to the topic, I'm glad Springs is seemingly coming back. At this point, I think losingh him and having to get another corner (or worse, sticking with the ones we have) would hurt the defense. I know he's injury-prone but its good to keep SOME of the same personnel. Fletcher- new MLB obviously, might take little time to gel with teammates, or more likely more time for his teammates to gel with him. And if we get Briggs, another change. So at least our best corner (when he's playing) looks like he can provide some continuity.

i think Carlos Rogers will have a breakout season this year.
Did any of you hear that he is training with loudmouth Deion Sanders, and Mr Redskin himself Darrell Green!!!!
i hate Deion, but to be able to train with Deion and Darrell (2 future hof's) he will only get better.
So hopefully he earns alot
and lets not forget about Smooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot

So how would we fill the void at CB if we traded Springs? I'm sorry Smoot, Rogers and Jimoh:doh: just isn't good enough.
