Need a topic for my 5 minute persuasive speech

So yeah, I have to deliver a 5 minute persuasive speech on Tuesday(or Thursday). I'm having trouble finding a topic to talk about. I was thinking about online gambling or the NBA age limit but I don't know if I could fill up 5 minutes talking about that...

This topic is so easy to research and filling 5 minutes is cake. Argue for or against their effectivness, there is plenty of research for both sides.

From time to time, I really enjoy those papers or speeches that are somewhat dumb, but really creative.

Like, my girlfriend once wrote a paper for her technical writing class. It was a process paper. She wrote a page or so on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

But, now that I think of it, encouraging creativity doesn't make much sense in this situation...since...you asked for a topic.

But I will say...if you want to impress, pick a topic and do the persuasion on the side you don't agree with. Finish the speech, and interject afterwards that "I personally do not believe anything I just said". ;)

i remember a friend of mine once telling me about a time he had to do something like that. he was going to give a speech on photography or something but when he got to the front of the class he ripped up his notes (of which he had very little) and went into this huge speech about "what are we doing with our lives" and how pointless it was to be sitting in class. he ended up getting a standing ovation. haha.

Both of my parents are college professors (if fact, if you go fo NOVA, my pop may be your teacher); and rule number one for these kind of speeches is...DON'T do something everyone in the universe does. No abortion, Gun control, flag burning, pro war, anti war, etc etc etc.

I'm taking Public Speaking right now and we had to do Persuasive Speeches a few weeks ago- almost everyone did Darfur, HIV/STD's, global warming, why exercise is important, etc. So boring. I think they all got good grades though.

I did "Why You Should Join Scientology." My teacher loved it and while I took it seriously and presented only factual material about their beliefs, it was also funny at the same time purely because of its absurdity, and I made a pretty good Power Point to go along with it.

Warhead, I'm going to make this much easier for you. As someone said, what are you passionate about? Not what do you enjoy so much, like sports and music, but what really pisses you off? Is there a law policy that you think is unfair? What's happening today that makes you pissed?
