Why for Minny?
They get a "defensive presence" (hopefully Etan has that perception around the league) to split time with the finesse Blount.

Why for us?
Jaric, although a marginal offensive player, is a very good defender who can play all 3 backcourt positions.

It could happen. We need to clear up space in our front court. I don't like Jaric as a player at all, and his contract is just as bad as Etan's, but we have too many big men under contract.
I'd much rather give up Etan Thomas than Brendan Haywood. If this trade was Haywood for Jaric, I'd never do it.

Etan stinks. He hurts us on the floor with his turnovers and crappy defense. I know Jaric isn't very good either but we don't have any depth in the backcourt outside Daniels.

We only have 3 legit NBA players at guard and 4 if you count SF Jarvis Hayes (who is probably gone). If anything, we are too deep with bigs. With Etan there, how are Blatche and Pecherov going to get any playing time?
