Wow. Chicago's offense is so much more simple then ours.

Its based on mismatches. Who would have though.

They run a high screen and roll. Hinie drives and dishes to an open shooter.

Why cant we run a pro offense like this?

Miami has no chance at all.

Chicago is MUCH more balanced in every position...that doesn't mean they have better players (obviously dwade > everyone on chicago and same as shaq) but they have more heart and don't rely on their talent.

Hopefully the Bulls sweep but 4-2 is more likely. Go Chicago!!

Miami is no more. The Bullets will win the division next year and Miami will be beat in the 1st round. If the Wizards don't win the SE next year...fark me!

Regarding your post...I think their head coach makes a BIG difference. I mean the guy looks tough and the Bulls follow his example. Their D is crazy good and they have solid players who can shoot/drive. The biggest thing is they actually run their offense and find the open man. We just jack up shot after shot. I mean we do run the offense but it just doesn't offer any open looks. Who is to blame I don't know but if the Wizards don't win the Division and advance to the 2nd round/ECF EJ must go. We haven't done squat since he's been except make the playoffs. That shouldn't be a goal and he shouldn't be praised just because of that. He sucks...so I blame it on him :)

i was looking at the stats good scorers against chicago and arenas was the only player to have good games against them.

It got me wondering arenas is a pretty rare scorer he can drive in well as anyone and hes a great shooter. Only other person that can do that is ummm kobe : )

I see the difference every time we play the Bulls. When we beat them it's because we out run them and have an almost perfect shooting night, NOT because we executed a structured game and took them out of their own. I sweat Chicago more than any NBAE opponent except Miami. Skiles is an amazing coach.

Finally we can agree.

I don't think the Heat are done but they look old and slow compared to the younger Bulls. We'll see though, the Heat have two games upcoming at home. They've gotta win both. The Bulls tend to succumb when adversity hits them in the playoffs(last year, year before...)

TNT talks about the game while espn tries to make a small issue into something big.. their broadcasting is much better.. no wonder reggie, kerr and barkley go with TNT instead of espn

Once again I ask...

If Ben Gordon can play the 2, why can't Gilbert Arenas? Does anyone else see how deadly Arenas can be in Gordon's role?

In fact, if there is any player in the league that comes close to emulating the "swag" and big-shot scoring ability of Gil, it's Gordon. Seriously, both are artists - cold, relentless, and dedicated. Would any coach play Gordon at the point more than 6-8 minutes a game? The answer is no, and Gil should not be forced to play, and defend, the point.

If Gil is clutch now, just imagine how clutch he will be when he doesn't have to feed the post for 44 minutes, but just run off screens and spit daggers!

Why be a hater. They play excellent ball. I can appreciate that.

They have a great coach. You know I appreciate that.

Charlotte is another team I will be watching. The Wiz get what they get because of the decision they have made.

We made a lot of good ones for a while so we were on the rise. Now we have reached a ceiling because we don't have a good coach. That sucks because I'm not sitting around for 3 more years being frustrated by this crap.

Something needs to happen. We are not out of the woods yet. Seems our only hope is that EJ changes. As I have long said. He does, but its like grass gorwing. Its just so painful to watch.

I see it. We could learn a lot from Chicago.

Again, this is on EJ. AD should be our PG. Gil the 2. That would fix a lot of things with this team. AD is a leader which you need at the PG. He has playoff experience.

So you have AD and Gil, then what? Well CB has to be the SF.

AD, Gil, CB. Now you need a PF. That isnt AJ. He isnt a complete one. And given if you can get one that plays good offense and no D vs one who can play great D and grow his offense, I would take the D player first.

Our most athletic PF is Blatche. Songaila is the best shorter with average to below average D. Etan is the best balance. Good D and shot blocking with an inside game.

AD, Gil, CB, Blatche/Etan. Then you need a center. We have Haywood or Booth. Pick one

AD, Gil, CB, Blatche/Etan, Haywood/Booth

Did we see any of these line ups start all year. NO. EJ is a complete fool.

This is why we are were we are now. We didn't invest time the best line ups.

We could have had a bench of Mason, DS, Hayes, AJ, Songaila, Blatche/Etan, Haywood/Booth. Thats a very good bench.

We could have won the title if we did it differently. We could have had a team that played great D and scored more then the opponents. Thats what wins playoff games. EJ failed as a head coach this session.

I hate Chicago because... well we have a rivalry with them, don't we? And I hate about a third of their roster because of punkitude, flopping, and that sort of stuff. Chicago is fool's gold. They have a great offense for the players they have... but they have no closer. They are a jump-shooting team JUST like we are, with a better defense and worse individual talent. Unlike the Big 3, they have the big 5 (all their starters sans Wallace) but their distribution and reliance on open looks is also their achilles heel: they do not have any player that can consistently win a one on one or a two on one matchup and sink in clutch shots. In the NBA, lets just say it helps to have one of those guys. If they face a team that can defend the perimeter, they are screwed. They have no post game and they have no isolation game. They are scrappy though, which makes them always fun to watch.

As for Skiles... I kind of put him in the same league as EJ. Except EJ has beaten him in a playoff series. They both rely on the talent on their roster, clash with big men (the Chicago bigs that left are not quite the bums I thought they were) and are known for emphasizing one aspect of play (D for Skiles, O for EJ). Their fans loathe a particlar team tendancy that stems from the coaching, in the Bulls case it is their famous scoring drouts. Scotty has coached 7 years total and compiled a respectable 272 wins and 237 losses thanks in no small part to his stint in Pheonix, with a WPT of .534, though in the postseason has 10 wins to 16 losses. EJ has coached for 6 years with a sub-par 186 to 239 record, or a .438 PCT. 6 wins and 11 losses in the playoffs. As a Washington coach EJ matches up better, with 153 wins and advancing to the second round of the playoffs versus SS' 156 wins (in less games I might add) but a 2 and done playoff track record. Both have had their teams rebound from losing skids. But Skiles teaches defense, the be-all end-all to coaching! If defense is all you needed, Skiles woulda won the championship two years ago or at least knocked out Miami last year. Defense is overrated in and of itself. Defense does not win championships. Complete teams win championships. Teams with playoff experience win championships. Now, in Skiles' defense (no pun intended) teaching ball-movement and spacing and all that stuff is great for basketball fundamentals, but I have seen enough of the Wiz to realize that it is because of Gibby we will never play that way. If given an identical team to run, Skiles and EJ would have identical records, because they both prefer a running/passing/jump shooting team. EJ has had better teams in the past, which is why he is a better coach when they match up against each other. And believe it or not, Skiles is no master substitution wizard himself. Better than EJ perhaps, but because of the strong Bulls bench he pulls out starters real quick. Maybe if we had a strong bench Eddie would make better substitutions perhaps? Do not pine for Skiles guys, we would still be just as far away from championship contention as we are now.

Of course EJ is a "complete fool". All he's done is get the wizards to the playoffs 3 consecutive years. If only we had hands11 as the wizards coach...oh he has no NBA coaching experience? Well that doesn't matter. Everybody knows it's all about coming up with the best rotation on paper.

Excellent post. My feelings exactly.

Skiles and the Bulls are playing excellent ball right now, but don't get too jealous...their ceiling is about the same ours was...ECF...but they can't win it. They've been very fortunate to not have any key injuries this season as well.

I like how you point out the similarities between EJ and Skiles. Bulls fans, in the offseason and the beginning of this season, complained about Skiles emphasizing defense TOO MUCH, and hated on his college-style, inconsistent, relying-on-jump-shooting offense.

Chicago fans were calling for Skiles job the first couple months of this season when they played like garbage. They hated on him feuding with Ben Wallace. They hated on his lineups, and his love affair for certain players (Duhon).

It's just all too familiar.

Anyone watching tonights game? ROFL, Vintage Wade, Vintage refs for the last 2 mins.

Flops on a 3 point attempt and gets the call
Carries the ball on that turnaround jump shot, and Dick Bavetta is standing there staring him down and doesn't blow the whistle...LOL
And then Gordon gets plowed by a moving walker and gets no call...

So many things I could say to this but I'm not cause I know you're just trying to set me up to get suspended again. That's just what you do. And that's some real mature man stuff there huh?

Next time mind your business and when I quote you and respond to you then you can say something to me. For now you're going on my ignore list. Not just because of this but also because I'm so tired of your whining and moaning about how horrible and evil EJ is.

As far as the post of mine that you quoted, sf2k knows I'm just messing with him. How does he know? Cause I talk to him on AIM sometimes. It's nothing but trash talk. So you grow up and mind your damn business. Stick to bitching about EJ and how he's the anti-christ. That seems to be the only thing you're good for (besides getting people suspended.)

Yeah dude, he's an absolute thread killer. We can have a thread about the draft or how much Brenda sucks or Gilbert's jersey giveaway and he'll come in with an eight-paragraph post about EJ and how much he sucks. Then he'll quote himself to expand on the same point he already has made 10,000 times. It's borderline obsessive and stalkerish. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the news being arrested for sending the man death threats or him showing up at a Wizards practive and kneecaping the dude with a lead pipe.

Sound familiar? Replace Scott Skiles with Eddie Jordan, offense with defense, and Tyrus Thomas with Andre Blatche in any post in that thread and you have your typical Washington Wizards thread after a loss. And everyone was gushing over Skiles in the Miami series. I guess the grass is always greener....
