You guys seriously need to stop sucking down this spoon-fed speculation from the media. Taylor has made it known since day 1 he prefers to work out in Miami. He has made it known that he doesnt believe in "voluntary" workouts with the team, as they are voluntary.

When he misses minicamp and comes out to tell us he wants a new deal or hes holding out, then start your complaining. Then start your posts about how he isnt that good. Then start your complaining.

Until then, ALL IT IS IS SPECULATION. Who really thought Sean Taylor would show up for voluntary workouts??? If you did, then I guess you arent too caught up with Redskins park since 2004.

Please, stop the madness, its a voluntary workout and he hasnt said a WORD about wanting a new deal and holding out because of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this should clear up some info on the contract. He recieved a 7.2 million dollar signing bonus. With escalators and incentives it could push his contract to:

$40 million over six years, while the seventh year can be voided.

The escalators are based on playing time, performance and Pro Bowl or All-Pro selections.

Hey, I'm in the camp that agrees a contract extension should at least be explored. I have no problem with his not showing up for the voluntary workouts either.

What I am really interested in seeing after the 2007-2008 season is how many Sean Taylor veiled call out threads there are.

"I love the guy BUT... :)

How many teams would be jumping all over themselves in an attempt to have Sean Taylor on their roster - all of them in a cocaine heartbeat...

The problem with ST is that he is not reaching his incentives and he wants more guaranteed money. I think we should hold firm for at least a year.

Dammit man if you want to get better and reach those incentives then come to the voluntary workouts (it is like what 3 dang days) and get better. Plain and simple in my opinion. Christ wish I got what 4 months off a year, I would gladly come in 3 days for that schedule required or just encouraged, doesn't matter to me.

BTW ST has said nothing publicly about this so I call this whole thing ESPN radio filling time with a speculative blog report they read on the Washington Posts website or heck maybe even on ES.

ST will leave. Joe will not be happy that he is not at practice and will not put up with him holding out for a new contract. he will trade him for some elite DL's and put his trust in Landry. lol haha ya right

I love Taylor but no one player is greater then the team. Taylor needs to shut up and play worthy of a bigger contract. His play last year certainily didn't convince me of that and with Landry he may be demanding a contract now because he's worried his importance on the Defense is lessened.

And, a pro bowl year on a dismal D isn't "Worthy of a bigger contract"?

You know, when it comes down to it, I think all First round rookies should have incentive laden contracts. These are players who have not played a down in the NFL, and as such, have not earned their money. So how do you make sure you get fair value for the guy you draft? You make his pay based on how well he plays. If he plays poorly, he gets little. If he plays great, he gets a lot.

This seems like a no-brainer to me, so why dont more teams do this(outside of the problem of the other agents)?

Get real! As others have pointed out, Sean has not said anything regarding his contract. Until then stop with all the threats of trading him to whomever because, as you say, Joe Gibbs doesn't put up with contractual dissent.

Remember John Riggins?

DUDE IT WAS A JOKE. thats why i said "ya right" at the bottom. i dont buy into any of this ST rumors. he may be unhappy with his contract, but if he is it will get resolved. ive said it b4, if they are spending all this time in money on their defense the are sure not to let one of their key elements walk out the door. the plan for landry is to be stong safety freeing up ST to run around more and stop big plays.

I agree with the thread starter. Maybe I don't understand the rules, but it seems fairly clear to me that these 3 threads should be merged, and I just looked at the front page
