The fact the Broncos didn't take an inside linebacker in the draft speaks volumes for how easily they think SLB D.J. Williams (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6776) will adapt to a switch to the middle to replace Al Wilson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4680). Previous middle linebackers in new defensive coordinator Jim Bates' system have thrived in terms of production, and Williams' skills have been underutilized to this point in Denver, according to our sources. Free-agent signee Warrick Holdman (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4756) is expected to have an edge for Williams' old spot on the strong side.

Are the Broncos that desperate?

Haha, good luck with that....

Watch him go there and actually be productive.

The course being Redskin fans were too stupid to realize the player was actually not terrible, and when he leaves and continues playing acceptably well, they pretend the problem was something other than themselves and their own idiocy?

Walt Harris was serviceable and displayed some athletic ability while he was here. Holdman did not. If Pierce could excel in our scheme, and Marshall, Holdman shoulda, but didn't. I bet he doesn't make it through training camp in Denver, or at least won't start. He' sonly listed as hving the edge cause he's probably their most experienced remaining LB.

LOL! You can't blame us for getting rid of him and Harris. Everyone who screams we should hae kept Harris, is only speaking in hindsight, because they were probably the same people who were saying to cut him.

actually, i thought harris should have stayed and was a decent player. however, holdman was god-awful. the worst linebacker starting in the nfl, by far. if he turns out to be good, then i'll say i was wrong. but i'm not losing sleep over that scenario

not sure whether youre referencing harris or holdman, but both suck. harris made the pro bowl this year by picking off awful QBs, most of his picks came against guys who dont even start. hes a weak CB.

holdman was downright awful, probably one of the worst starting LB in football. he got trucked constantly, horrid at blitzing, about the only thing he could do was sit in zone coverage.

i just have to say, i dont see how any of the skins problems could be the fault of the fans or the fans' idiocy...

Really. Blame us for horrible on the field play? Holdman was not that good. He was terrible at pass coverage and worse against the run. He was a better player with the Bears. He fit that defense, not ours.

Harris was actually a good player the first year he played with us. He was solid. Then in 2005, his play fell off. He was getting burned. Last year he made a good comback with SF, but he got alot of tips on INT's and terrible throws where he was the only player standing in that area.

But if course, us fans our stupid. What do we know about anything? It's not like we haven't actually watched the team every Sunday or Tivo-ed the games and reviewed them later. Yeah, we don't know a damn thing.

True, but none of them were Warrick "I wish I were a trashcan" Holdman. Holdman wouldnt thrive if the field was all rock face with a 2 foot gap he could stand in with the opposing team having to play uphill at a 45 degree angle. And you could give him a sword and he would still allow TD's.

As you can tell im not his biggest fan.

The point being, folks, Holdman and Harris before him, were not nearly as bad on the field as the fans here tended to make them out to be. So, when Harris then, and perhaps Holdman now, go off somewhere and play well, it's not a flaw in our team, but you, for not being able to recognize you were never correct about their bad play in the first place. That's the blame we have when we are so stupid as to avoid an understanding of this simple concept.

Not trying to be rude here, but do you think that any starters on the Redskins last season played bad enough to be replaced? If so who?

I'm sorry, but Holdman was terrible. The guy played like he was on roller skates.

I feel sorry for Donkey fans if he gets the starting job.

Well it seems the coaches think he was bad also, the fans thought he was terrible and he was also the only one cut from the starting linebacking core. You have to admit he was pretty bad. I bet GW would say the same if in a private conversation.

I still think Arch can play, I bet he will be perfect in Chicago's defense. I bet Holdman does not last long starting.

I was talking with a friend at work who is a Broncos fan and is excited about their D this year. I tried to warn him about Highway 57 and that he could be in for a long season. But he swears up and down Holdman is a beast, and all i could do was laugh.
