Hello,
I need some help with a helmet chinstrap...I have a high point chinstrap that will not stay snapped...I have tried changing both ends of the connection a few different times and always get the same result. I noticed that some players in the NFL have the high point setup but do not have a snap on the top part just a connection...does anyone know how I could do this? I actually use this helmet to play so I have to be something that is legal. Thanks in advance for any help.

Some people just can't wear it snapped there; usually cause of the shape of their head I guess. There's two more staps below that are a little more traditional. I usually just have my players switch to that.

Right, I tried that and the straps are not made to be put on those...I would have to order a new chinstrap and wait for it to get here...I was tring to figure out a way to make this one work....do you know anything about the semi-perm. attachments that some NFL players use?

while i am all for the technological advances of modern science and the uses of the internet, it might be easier to simply walk or drive to a modells or galyens and talk to a guy in the football section. they should be able to help you fix the attachments if you bring the helmet and strap in. if they can't they should be fired. jk

I'm impressed that you're 30 years old and still playing, which league?
Why not try the equipment manager or coach at WHS? Maybe CJ Dewitt could help you out.

Try all the different snap points.

It's probably a defect in the strap itself. You shouldn't have to speacial order a new strap but rather just go to you local Dickies or Sports World, and buy one of the many fine seletctions that they have to offer.

There is something about this thread that is creepy...
YOU have the helmet...YOU have the chin strap...although I played high school football and put my helmet on many times and I have an actual Redskin helmet, how am I supposed to know how to make YOUR chin strap work?
Also, are you a Redskin fan or a Dallas fan? Your name is BigD13 and since you only have 2 posts, I am wondering whats up. ? If you are a Cowboy fan, then you have my apologies...I CAN see how a Cowboy fan would have trouble connecting his chip strap.
Sorry if I am misinterpreting your motive...My rear view mirror won't seem to stay glued on my window, but I'm not going to go join the Dallas board and ask for help with it.

Dude don't know of any permanent fixes, I wear a Schutt DNA with a high hook up and the high snappers pop undone at least 3 or 4 times each game I play in which is a pain in the butt, usually one of my buddies on the o-line sorts it in the huddle. If you find a fix post it up !
The bottom snappers I have a bigger problem with,i have sheared 3 of those in half on the field all on plays where I get a running start on Mike backer in a counter.Ended up changing to metal to fix that one

You should try and get some of the plastic snaps, I used them in college a d they were great. You can also have the chin strap "bolted" up top, if you look at the fastners inside the helmet that hold the snap on there is a way to make do without the buckles, but you would need to get ahold of either the helmet maker or a professional equipment guy.
