Did anyone else get stuck in that awful traffic on 95 South between DC and Baltimore today? They're repaving the left two lanes, but apparently its necessary to close the lanes 3 miles before the actual paving is being done. It was an absolute nightmare. I need someone to commiserate with.

If it is any consolation, I drive 2 miles to school everyday and seem to hit all 7 red lights every morning. What should take me two or three minutes, ends up taking about 7 or 8.

That traffic is top three as the worst in the country. They should be paving at night. There is ABSOLTELY no reason to shut down any lanes during the day.
What's going to happen this afternoon?

I'm moving next year to Knoxville, TN to go back to school, and I certainly won't miss the traffic either. I'm gonna be able to walk to class as it is.

From what I've experienced, and this includes LA, this is THE worst traffic in the country.

Paving? On 95? On Memorial Day weekend?
Someone didn't think that one all the way through.

I say a small prayer every morning on my way to work that it's only a 4.4 my trip and I can weave my way through back roads to get there. I don't know how any of you deal with 495/95/270 traffic around here.

its probably more dangerous to do it at night...drunk drivers/speeders/sleepy drivers?

Your forgetting 66 for the NoVA people.

They used to have these wonderful signs that said "Prepare for Sudden Aggravation."
Now how exactly do you do that?

oh yea on mudder's day weekend i was driving home to va and i encountered a sign that said something like, "caution: high accident area, stay alert". as soon as i digested the sign, everyone was slamming on the brakes! fortunately, due to my aftermarket rotors and recent brake fluid change, i was able to stop comfortably. unfortunately there were AT least 4-5 accidents.
if they know its a high accident area, why not fix it?
fyi...i think the slowdown is caused by merging HOV folks onto I95.

That merge is insane! I hate it. Everytime I have to go there it's ****ed for miles, in both the regular and HOV lanes, up to where the HOV dumps back onto 95. Such a stupid design.
