"4) The receiver race. One of the top disappointments has been Donte' Stallworth starting on the physically unable to perform list. That has created more opportunity for Jabar Gaffney, who has taken advantage, often lining up alongside Randy Moss and Wes Welker. Gaffney has been one of the top surprises of camp."
And then...
http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/20070806_Eagles_Notes____Curtis_improving_and_impr essing.html
"Curtis, signed as a free agent after Donté Stallworth left for New England via the same route, made a sensational grab to start the Eagles' full contact scrimmage yesterday. With the team working on its red-zone offense, Curtis lined up on the left side of the field and went across the middle, making a diving catch in the end zone for a touchdown. He also slammed into the goalpost on the play.
Later in the practice, Curtis got behind cornerback Sheldon Brown and caught a 55-yard touchdown pass on a perfectly thrown ball by Donovan McNabb."

But from what the reports are saying and from what I have seen of him in camp, the Curtis vs. Stallworth debate might be a non-issue. The one thing that has stood out for me is the fact that Kevin has taken big time shots this camp from Brown, James, Considine, etc. and kept on trucking while Donte' can't even get on the field....
Cheap, stupid Eagles FO indeed, I think they found a gem and as GCOBB.com says, the Eagles have their best tandum since Mike Quick/Cris Carter.

I always liked Kevin Curtis. He's easily the best white receiver in the league. Best since Bill Schroeder even.....
Anyone who's shocked that Donte Stallworth is useless after getting paid is an idiot. It amazes me that New England is constantly praised for that signing.

The Eagles are loaded at several positions....
WR, OL, DL, and RB. There are going to be some preety good players cut by the Eagles. Keep an eye on Greg Lewis, Billy Sampy, and Michael Gasperson at WR....one of these guys will be cut and would be a nice 3rd or 4th WR for a team. Then again, Sampy could start for several teams because he reminds alot of people of a Santana Moss type because of his tremendous speed and lack of fear going over the middle. On the DL, look for McDougal and Reagor to get cut because of the numbers game, but don't be shocked if Darren Howard gets dropped too....though he has been playing lights out, his hefty salary isn't a plus for the "cheap" Eagles F.O.

Have to wait and see if the Birds finally got it right with the WR corps.
Why would the Bird FO drop Howard this late in the game? Money is already committed for the season and saving money now would be stupid and really earn them the cheap moniker.
Birds are going to be tough this year. Still have to wait on McNugget when it becomes live. The Oline is good and the defense should be as good as last year. Have to wait and see, and they need to avoid the injury bug.

I think that if anything, they will keep Howard, but for some odd reason, I keep hearing the name Marques Murrell as a stand out young DE. I agree that they will be tough, but so will everyone else in the NFC East. My biggest fear is that Campbell turns out to be advertised. His size and arm strength could be a problem if he gets time to find his WRs.

Hey man, I've stopped listening to WIP so I get all my info from the EMB. Those cats actually seem calm this season so my optimism is guarded a tad bit.

The pukes just need to finish below both are teams and of course the skins need to make the playoffs. :)

Yeah, he's is resting them. They have been hitting everyday since they got there. Plus when you factor in the 90+ days and the way the Eagles practice (full speed) then I guess they need rest. Plus, it allows guys like Hunt, Gaddis, Victor A. and some of the other young guys to get reps with the 1st and 2nd teams.

Sorry, not buying this "loaded" wr group you speak of.
Not sure any other than your starters would even make the Cowboys team.
Same with your RBs other than Westbrook.
Your OL is very good though. Your DL I will reserve judgement on until I see them play in the preseaosn. I think you should too after all of the hype your DL received last year....remember?

Keep hoping #5. The problem is that Stallworth has always had a history of injury...but when he plays, he's special.
If he plays eight games in NE, he'll have better numbers than Curtis.

no chance. In eight games with all the other weapons Brady has he will be lucky to get 30 rec 375-425 yds and 3 TD...thats if he is really good. Curtis on the otherhand if healthy could get close to 60 catches for 600-700 yds and 4-5 TD's........
Funny, i think if Stallworth was in Philly still there would be ZERO cahnce in you calling him "special"

with all do respect, and you may be right, but i think he was prolly supporting the Eagles to resign him only so he could see them playing 8 games without him and laughing about the waste of money........Stallworth, through all his talents, just isnt worth it. The Eagles now have a very under-rated and talented WR corp. they migght be the best in the division as far as overall depth.

So what you are saying is that these 2 might just catch a combined 61 balls like Quick/Carter did in 1988, or the 58 of 1989 or the 51 of 87? Because Carter didn't do **** in Philly and Quick sucked after 1987, Carters rookie year. Carter went to Minn in 1990 and Quick retired.
In comparison, Monk, Clark, and Sanders all caught more balls each than Quick and Carter did combined. Great Tandem, lol.

what fun would it be for him otherwise.

Please, I was down on Stallworth when you first signed him, because I didn't think he could stay healthy...but I was wrong. He played well. But what did that genius Eagles' FO do? They let him go...because they didn't want to pay the cash.
You've become confused...but most Eagle fans are.

They let him go because they didn't want to pay the cash. Yet, they pay Kevin Curtis more than New England pays Donte Stallworth. How are you going to distort this reality to make sense or your unfounded criticism?

I agree with OL, the rest you are out of your mind with camp overhype. The DL for the eagles was dreadful last year and reagor and scott (who lost his starting spot to tank) are cover 2 DTs, not run stuffers. Scott I like, but for some reason no team was really interested, i judged him as a good talent but apparently few teams did. Bunky is also not a run stuffer back at his college weight of 290, unless he suddenly becomes tommie harris. Patterson was average last year imo but he has potential and had a good rookie campaign.
Sampy could start for several teams??? Like who? This WR no one has heard of and who has no nfl experience is already a #3 wr? Greg lewis would be a great #4 wr and could compete for lots of #3 wr spots. With the way the eagles offense is i think you guys overhype wrs to much, it is wr friendly to certain wrs (great route runners). The same stuff was said about thrash, mitchell, and pinkston at one time believe it or not (i know no eagle fan will admit this). Westbrook will always be the #2 target, brown the #1, Smith the #4, and curtis the #3. Westy and Smith get split out often so i don't see why you are hyping up guys that will never see the field. What about avant and baskett? I was hearing eagles fans hyping them both as great wrs.
At RB, westy's knee is always a concern. Buckhalter is average and is injury prone, but i think tony hunt is the powerback the eagles have needed. Moats is good imo but will be cut because he can't pass block or can't catch passes or some reason he doesn't fit Andy Reid's offense. So if all healthy and then i would agree that it could be loaded.
The reports coming from giants camp have me thinking a lot of the same things man, and you have to learn to stop listening to fans and analysts about TC. If i believed the reports from the giants training camp i would say things like "the giants have 1 good #1, and 4 good #2s". I would be believing that the corners and safeties are all great and the depth is excellent. I would think that every pick the giants made except michael johnson was dead on and that william joseph will have a great year as well as michael jennings. I honestly have heard very little bad things coming from the camp reports.
Eli is inconsistent as usual but he goes from amazing touchdown tosses to dreadful interceptions, the rest seems to be a star studded line up according to these "unbiased" reports.
The eagles are loaded at OL, DE, secondary, and special teams, I am not seeing the light on the other areas just yet. Lets wait till they hit the field in regular season to start saying teams are loaded with talent.
Also, stallworth is much more talented than curtis but if you consider the health factor and route running i think that curtis is a better fit and will have a longer and better tenure than stallworth did. I don't expect either to break 600 yards this year though.

I have to agree with what a poster said earlier.
Jabar was studly at the end of the season, and I think he was one of the top wr's in the playoffs as well.
I won't be surprised if he is a starter for NE.
