So, I've been watching the Bullets/Wiz for the past 12 years....so I wasn't able to see some of the frachises' greats play. I would like to know who you all would put on an All Wizards team. BTW, no Michael Jordan! Here is my uneducated lineup.

PG Rod Strickland (one of my all time favorites)
SG Gilbert Arenas (put him at SG just for you Hands)
SF Caron Butler (didn't know who to put here, so i chose caron over J. howard
PF Elvin Hayes
c Wes Unseld

sixth man: Antawn Jamison

Why the hell, if Strickland was so good (and, according to his stats n NBA.com, he was), do I only remember him as a lazy cancer???

And Earl Monroe would have to be backup SG. Gus Johnson would be there too somewhere. And damn, Unseld was center at onlt 6-7?? Damn!

Walt Bellamy averaged 31 ppg and 19 rpg I think he gets the nod over Caron.
I'd take Earl the Pearl Monroe over Strickland.
Where is Gus Johnson and Bernard King?

Gil at the point
Jeff Malone at SG
Bernard King at SF
Elvin Hayes at PF
The Mighty Moses Malone at C

Gimme Gugliotta and Jamison off the bench. Maybe Webber too.

he was both at the same time. Vomits before tip-off, drops ten dimes during the game, and proceeds to punch a teammate in the face postgame.

He seemed to play a lazy type of game, always slowed the ball down, didnt run too many fast breaks, but he always seemed to drop 10 dimes with very few turnovers. I thought he was a solid part of our offense for those years.

We have had lots of great players on this team but sadly many times we had them past their prime or we let them go before their prime or they were not here very long. So who qualifies? Sure Moses Malone was the a great center but I hardly consider him a Bullet/Wizard. It is easier for me to consider players that were ours that we let go or they got injured over ones that came from somewhere else and played 2 years late in their careers.

It's probably easier to break these into groups by generation like some have done.

The Moses Malone deal was terrible for this franchise. I remember it happening and hated it. We had him 2 year then he was gone. I remember giving up a good deal to get him and paid him a boat load.

Dave Bing is another all time great but only played for us 2 yrs late in his career so I cant put him on my list. Same with.

Cliff Robinson 2 yrs
Gus Williams 2 yrs
Kevin Duckworth 2 yrs

Hot Plate Williams was a total shame. He was an amazing talent. No one could stop him when he was healthy and in shape. Complete mismatch problem. He was a unique type of player at that time. He had amazing handles for his size. Smooth as silk.

Jeff Ruland was another amazing talent but got slowed by injury. In his prime and healthy he was on of the best but his knees and back didnt hold up.

I struggle to find great PGs who I who played for us that I would consider Washington players. 1995-96 Robert Pack was one of my favorites but injuries did him in. Strickland was good but he was a nut case. Boggs. Micheal Adams. Mark Price to late in his career. Etc etc. We had some potential PGs in Brent Price and Blake but never developed them. Knight came and went. Etc. Etc. We just havent had great PGs who have lead this team with any consistancy.

PG-Kevin Porter but we missed out on some good years.
SG Phil Chenier/Jeff Malone/ Gil if he is moved here.
SF Bernard King 4 yrs here. HOF, Bobby Dandridge. Hopefully Tough Juice
PF-C Elvin Hayes 7 year here. Best player in the league that year. Won it all
PF-C Jeff Ruland/Chris Webber/Rasheed if he stayed.
C- Wes 13 season all with us. Wallace if he stayed

1995-96

Had this team been left alone, we could have won it all again but it was broken up because Rasheed was traded. There were lot of injuries this year but they came together to make a late season push. All they needed to do was come back with the same core. Lynam was coach. Nash was GM. We were so close to being great again. Then Nash was let go over the Howard contract and Lynam let go a season or so later and Wes took over for Nash, then back in the gutter we went. Gard Heard (sp) anyone :(

Amazing to click through the years and see ....

Who was the GM and Coach and what our records were.
Wes Unseld in charge was a long painful disaster.

If you look at " how to build an NBA championship team " in google you will see we arent going to win it all until we have a player like the ones listed in
SF/PF/Center. This is why what the Celtics did was a good gamble.

This is kind of strange. Look how many most improved players have played here. Way more then any other team. Again, we didnt always keep them or we got them late in their careers but this is just strange.

Sorry to go off topic, but when did Cliff Robinson play for the Bullets/Wizards?

I missed those two years. Someone refreash my memory please.

Nevermind, different Cliff Robinson. Still don't remember him for some reason.

As far as All Wizards Team, I'm partial to old time Bullets since that's when I started with the team.

Wes Unsled
Elvin Hayes
Kevin Porter
Phil Chenier
Kevin Grevey
Bobby Dandridge

Like Hands said, we always had good players at the end of their careers like Spencer Haywood and Austin Carr.
