Portis in madden

I know it might be argued that it doesn't belong here.. but EVERYONE needs to know about this.

So I bought madden 2008 last night.. great game.. I played with the redskins.. we're pretty beast this year.. until I found a glitch that ruins the game for me.


CLINTON PORTIS's Carry in the game is a 67 and they made his catch a 96

i'm guessing they got them backwards.. it's horrible.. everytime you run with portis he FUMBLES.. please let all the skins fans know, We must correct this problem!

Line him up as a receiver and put Ladell in as starting RB.

08 sucks currently. such a cartoonish piece of crap meant for 5 year old kids. im gonna give it one week, and then its back to 07.

08 is good for me on PS3. I noticed alot of fumbles for everyone. Make sure you press R1 (on PS3) to cover the ball when you go into traffic. It cut down on Portis' fumbles for me big time.

If u play online they will correct this error w/a roster update and u just save the roster and its all good.

for 360 the game is so herky jerky, theres way too many interceptions, all the stupid single player icons are so lame and distracting (its really cool looking at a dump truck under my olineman or a brickwall underneath my linebackers......) and theres way too big a difference between teams.

this game is way too cartoony and meant for little kids, 07 was much less child like.

^^ I'm pretty sure you can turn those icons off. I don't know if that will make you like the game any better though.

On a side note, since this thread already got started, does anyone know how to sub in and out players on the 360 version? Like if a player is fatigued or you want to spell your running back etc? In 07 it was one of the triggers but I don't think it is the same now.

So is this for every console? I played a game with him last night and he did not fumble once. I just have regular Xbox, also my defense gets a ton of interceptions I have never gotten this many before. So far the game is just ok to me. Just need to play it more and figure it out.

i would LOVE if if i could. i feel like im 11 playing mutant league football.

still though, the game play is very herky jerky, much less smooth than 07. its kinda cool that the game is so specific as to be able to set individual player assignments, but so many kids play so fast online theres not enough time to do it effectively.

You have to play the game on all madden that takes away the cartoony icons and stuff.... Its a pretty money game on the 360... the ps3 version is choppy but still good ..... But yeah if you want the cartoon feel to go away .. Man up and play on all madden level.

I actually really like 08. It's much more fun for me because you really have to be careful. You make a poor throw, as I did online this morning (threw off my back foot with Campbell), and you will pay for it. You gotta respect it, but it works in your favor too. Your opponent makes a bad throw, 9 times out of 10 it's a pick. I can't get mad at the game anymore because it really has balanced many things out. I used to get so frustrated at the game when the ball would go right to one of my defenders, and they would drop it! It really sucked when it was a close game and I was behind by just a little bit. Hey! There's spell check on here now! AWESOME! (sorry :))

Wow. Seems like all people do is complain. Complain about the Redskins, complain about a video game. It's kind of old.

Up the difficulty if you don't want as many picks when you're on D, be smarter on offense if you don't want to throw them. Cover the ball in traffic to reduce fumbles.

I've had alot of fun with it already. It's pretty damn realistic in my eyes, but it's all in the way YOU play it.

ill try taking off the stupid icons. its just soo annoying when im trying to see defenders and my receivers or make cuts with a running back and im looking at a dump truck, a brick wall, and a giant hand. insanely lame.

other than the icons and the tons of INTs, its similar to 07, although they changed some of the buttons around, but thats just something to get used to with time.

How is it herky jerky? I haven't played it yet, but I know it's supposed to be 60 fps which should make it smoother.

I heard the player icons are annoying when you play against a team like the Patriots, who supposedly are filled with those icons. Is that the only thing that makes it cartoony? It seems to me like it would make the game a little more realistic since it real football you'd be able to easily point out the playmakers.

Madden really needs to step up the commentary. I don't understand how the NHL games could have such great commentary but a franchise as popular as Madden could be so poor in that category.

Additionally...there BETTER be a way...of moving the controller config back to 2005...just like in 07 and 06...

That was one of the parts of '07 that I hated.

There's absolutely no reason my safety should be getting faked out by a play action when there's 5 seconds left and the opponent has 50 yards to go for a touchdown. I lost at least twice because the AI was so stupid to not realize that all it had to do was wait in the endzone.

BTW, do the icons actually stay on after a play has started? If so, that's pretty lame. Don't worry though, that's going to be an improvement they make for next year! :rolleyes:

The game on 360 is money .. Its smoothand way more real. Its by far the best madden on the next gen systems so far.... Maybe because i have th 65 processor on my xbox but even on the old xbox360 at my friends house it ran really smooth .. the game so much more responsive interms of player movement and thank god the mario running is gone when you get stuck behind your lineman.. I think a lot of people don't realize that this game is designed that you should not be holding down the speed trigger so much because your guys get way too tired and fatigued... Go figure they designed a football game where you have to actually wait for the play to be developed and your lineman to actually set up on the run blocks hmmm sounds like real life to me

Injuries are the best.....surely i wanna play some dude who runs mcnabb all day and i hit stick my weight yet he keeps getting up. McNabb is always getting injured...so what if he gets injured online...makes it realistic.

It's supposed to be better on the 360 according to every review site I've read. Since Microsoft changed the controller layout to put the two extra bumpers on top of the controller, there's pretty much no reason not to get the better version of Madden. I know it was frustrating to try the black and white buttons on the Xbox.

I have a few question for you guys: i just bought 08 last night for 360. I've literally played it once with a buddy. Anyway 2 questions hopefully you guys can answer.....1. In Franchise mode/Owner mode (whatever it is called) can you Fire the Coach or Create a new Coach from scratch? 2. Can you create a team? Im at work, and wont get a chance to play until later on tonight, but i have off tomorrow so im going to stay up for awhile playing it i just wanted to know, so i know what im getting into when i get home

I kind of guarded my optimism for the 360 version this year, but I must say, I really like the game - this coming from a cg player.

It's just a different game. I didn't notice this rating bug w/ Portis on the 360 version, but I know he gets injured a lot.

Its good. The graphics are barely better than PS2/XBox, but it runs smooth. Some images don't load fast enough, like when they show rushing yards or something, half the Skins and opponents logo are missing. :laugh:

The controller toss is sweet and responsive once you get the hang of it and juking with the nunchuck/ strafing with the remote is cool. London Fletcher is a monster in the game and DB's hang onto rec a lot better.

Portis rating is right on the PS3. PS3 version is great and runs smooth as silk.
